— Transliteration

Man kana AAaduwwan lillahiwamala-ikatihi warusulihi wajibreela wameekalafa-inna Allaha AAaduwwun lilkafireen

We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent?

اور مشرق و مغرب (سب) اللہ ہی کا ہے، پس تم جدھر بھی رخ کرو ادھر ہی اللہ کی توجہ ہے (یعنی ہر سمت ہی اللہ کی ذات جلوہ گر ہے)، بیشک اللہ بڑی وسعت والا سب کچھ جاننے والا ہے

And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah. Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.

اَب بیوقوف لوگ یہ کہیں گے کہ ان (مسلمانوں) کو اپنے اس قبلہ (بیت المقدس) سے کس نے پھیر دیا جس پر وہ (پہلے سے) تھے، آپ فرما دیں: مشرق و مغرب (سب) اﷲ ہی کے لئے ہے، وہ جسے چاہتا ہے سیدھی راہ پر ڈال دیتا ہے

The foolish among the people will say, "What has turned them away from their qiblah, which they used to face?" Say, "To Allah belongs the east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a straight path."

Laysa albirra an tuwalloo wujoohakum qibalaalmashriqi walmaghribi walakinna albirra man amanabillahi walyawmi al-akhiri walmala-ikatiwalkitabi wannabiyyeena waataalmala AAala hubbihi thawee alqurbawalyatama walmasakeena wabnaalssabeeli wassa-ileena wafee arriqabiwaaqama assalata waataazzakata walmoofoona biAAahdihim ithaAAahadoo wassabireena fee alba/sa-iwaddarra-i waheena alba/si ola-ikaallatheena sadaqoo waola-ika humualmuttaqoon

the wealth

مال کو

**in spite of his love (for it)

ḥubbihi

spite of his love (for it)

اس کی محبت۔ اس کی محبت کے باوجود

dhawī

**(to) the near relatives,

l-qur'bā

(of) the near relatives

رشتہ داروں کو

wal-yatāmā

and the orphans

اور یتیموں کو

wal-masākīna

and the needy

اور مسکینوں کو

wa-ib'na

and (of)

اور

l-sabīli

the wayfarer

مسافروں کو

wal-sāilīna

and those who ask

اور سوال کرنے والوں کو

wafī

and in

اور میں

l-riqābi

freeing the necks (slaves)

گردنیں (چھڑانے)

wa-aqāma

and (who) establish

اور قائم کرے

l-ṣalata

the prayer

نماز کو

waātā

and give

اور دے

l-zakata

the zakah

زکوۃ کو

wal-mūfūna

and those who fulfill

اور جو پورا کرنے والے ہیں

biʿahdihim

their covenant

اپنے عہد کو

idhā

when

جب

ʿāhadū

they make it

وہ عہد کریں

wal-ṣābirīna

and those who are patient

اور جو صبر کرنے والے ہیں

fī

**in [the] suffering

میں

l-basāi

تنگ دستی میں

wal-ḍarāi

and [the] hardship

اور تکلیف میں

waḥīna

and (the) time

اور وقت

جنگ میں

Those

یہی لوگ

alladhīna

(are) the ones who

وہ لوگ ہیں

ṣadaqū

are true

جنہوں نے سچ کہا

wa-ulāika

and those,

اور یہی لوگ

l-mutaqūna

(are) the righteous

جو متقی ہیں

نیکی صرف یہی نہیں کہ تم اپنے منہ مشرق اور مغرب کی طرف پھیر لو بلکہ اصل نیکی تو یہ ہے کہ کوئی شخص اﷲ پر اور قیامت کے دن پر اور فرشتوں پر اور (اﷲ کی) کتاب پر اور پیغمبروں پر ایمان لائے، اور اﷲ کی محبت میں (اپنا) مال قرابت داروں پر اور یتیموں پر اور محتاجوں پر اور مسافروں پر اور مانگنے والوں پر اور (غلاموں کی) گردنوں (کو آزاد کرانے) میں خرچ کرے، اور نماز قائم کرے اور زکوٰۃ دے اور جب کوئی وعدہ کریں تو اپنا وعدہ پورا کرنے والے ہوں، اور سختی (تنگدستی) میں اور مصیبت (بیماری) میں اور جنگ کی شدّت (جہاد) کے وقت صبر کرنے والے ہوں، یہی لوگ سچے ہیں اور یہی پرہیزگار ہیں

— English

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

— Transliteration

Allahu la ilaha illahuwa alhayyu alqayyoomu la ta/khuthuhusinatun wala nawmun lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi man tha allatheeyashfaAAu AAindahu illa bi-ithnihi yaAAlamu mabayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wala yuheetoonabishay-in min AAilmihi illa bima shaawasiAAa kursiyyuhu assamawati wal-ardawala yaooduhu hifthuhumawahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheem

Urdu —

اﷲ، اس کے سوا کوئی عبادت کے لائق نہیں، ہمیشہ زندہ رہنے والا ہے (سارے عالم کو اپنی تدبیر سے) قائم رکھنے والا ہے، نہ اس کو اُونگھ آتی ہے اور نہ نیند جو کچھ آسمانوں میں ہے اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے سب اسی کا ہے، کون ایسا شخص ہے جو اس کے حضور اس کے اِذن کے بغیر سفارش کر سکے، جو کچھ مخلوقات کے سامنے (ہو رہا ہے یا ہو چکا) ہے اور جو کچھ ان کے بعد (ہونے والا) ہے (وہ) سب جانتا ہے، اور وہ اس کی معلومات میں سے کسی چیز کا بھی احاطہ نہیں کر سکتے مگر جس قدر وہ چاہے، اس کی کرسیء (سلطنت و قدرت) تمام آسمانوں اور زمین کو محیط ہے، اور اس پر ان دونوں (یعنی زمین و آسمان) کی حفاظت ہرگز دشوار نہیں، وہی سب سے بلند رتبہ بڑی عظمت والا ہے

— English

Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

اَوۡ كَالَّذِىۡ مَرَّ عَلٰى قَرۡيَةٍ وَّهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلٰى عُرُوۡشِهَا‌ۚ قَالَ اَنّٰى يُحۡىٖ هٰذِهِ اللّٰهُ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَا‌ۚ فَاَمَاتَهُ اللّٰهُ مِائَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهٗ‌ؕ قَالَ كَمۡ لَبِثۡتَ‌ؕ قَالَ لَبِثۡتُ يَوۡمًا اَوۡ بَعۡضَ يَوۡمٍ‌ؕ قَالَ بَل لَّبِثۡتَ مِائَةَ عَامٍ فَانظُرۡ اِلٰى طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمۡ يَتَسَنَّهۡ‌ۚ وَانْظُرۡ اِلٰى حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجۡعَلَكَ اٰيَةً لِّلنَّاسِ‌ وَانْظُرۡ اِلَى الۡعِظَامِ كَيۡفَ نُـنۡشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكۡسُوۡهَا لَحۡمًا ‌ؕ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهٗ ۙ قَالَ اَعۡلَمُ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌ‏ 

— Transliteration

Aw kallathee marra AAalaqaryatin wahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshihaqala anna yuhyee hathihi AllahubaAAda mawtiha faamatahu Allahu mi-ata AAaminthumma baAAathahu qala kam labithta qala labithtuyawman aw baAAda yawmin qala bal labithta mi-ata AAaminfanthur ila taAAamikawasharabika lam yatasannah wanthurila himarika walinajAAalaka ayatan linnasiwanthur ila alAAithamikayfa nunshizuha thumma naksooha lahmanfalamma tabayyana lahu qala aAAlamu anna AllahaAAala kulli shay-in qadeer

Then look

پس دیکھ

اپنے کھانے کے

and your drink

اور اپنے پینے کے

(they did) not

نہیں

yatasannah

change with time

خراب ہوا وہ

wa-unẓur

and look

اور دیکھو

ilā

طرف

ḥimārika

your donkey

اپنے گدھے کے

walinajʿalaka

and We will make you

اور تاکہ ہم بنادیں تم کو

āyatan

a sign

ایک نشانی

lilnnāsi

for the people

لوگوں کے لیے

wa-unẓur

And look

اور دیکھو

ilā

طرف

l-ʿiẓāmi

the bones

ہڈیوں کے

kayfa

how

کس طرح

nunshizuhā

We raise them

ہم جوڑ دیتے ہیں ان کو۔ ہم حرکت دیتے ہیں ان کو۔ ہم الٹا دیتے ہیں ان کو

thumma

then

پھر

naksūhā

We cover them

ہم پہناتے ہیں

laḥman

(with) flesh

گوشت

falammā

Then when

پھر جب

tabayyana

became clear

واضح ہوگیا

lahu

to him,

واسطے اس کو

qāla

he said

کہا

aʿlamu

I know

میں جان گیا

anna

that

بیشک

l-laha

Allah

اللہ تعالیٰ

ʿalā

(is) on

اوپر

kulli

every

ہر

shayin

thing

چیز کے

qadīrun

All-Powerful

قادر ہے

Urdu —

یا اسی طرح اس شخص کو (نہیں دیکھا) جو ایک بستی پر سے گزرا جو اپنی چھتوں پر گری پڑی تھی تو اس نے کہا کہ اﷲ اس کی موت کے بعد اسے کیسے زندہ فرمائے گا، سو (اپنی قدرت کا مشاہدہ کرانے کے لئے) اﷲ نے اسے سو برس تک مُردہ رکھا پھر اُسے زندہ کیا، (بعد ازاں) پوچھا: تُو یہاں (مرنے کے بعد) کتنی دیر ٹھہرا رہا (ہے)؟ اس نے کہا: میں ایک دن یا ایک دن کا (بھی) کچھ حصہ ٹھہرا ہوں، فرمایا: (نہیں) بلکہ تُو سو برس پڑا رہا (ہے) پس (اب) تُو اپنے کھانے اور پینے (کی چیزوں) کو دیکھ (وہ) متغیّر (باسی) بھی نہیں ہوئیں اور (اب) اپنے گدھے کی طرف نظر کر (جس کی ہڈیاں بھی سلامت نہیں رہیں) اور یہ اس لئے کہ ہم تجھے لوگوں کے لئے (اپنی قدرت کی) نشانی بنا دیں اور (اب ان) ہڈیوں کی طرف دیکھ ہم انہیں کیسے جُنبش دیتے (اور اٹھاتے) ہیں پھر انہیں گوشت (کا لباس) پہناتے ہیں، جب یہ (معاملہ) اس پر خوب آشکار ہو گیا تو بول اٹھا: میں (مشاہداتی یقین سے) جان گیا ہوں کہ بیشک اﷲ ہر چیز پر خوب قادر ہے

— English

Or [consider such an example] as the one who passed by a township which had fallen into ruin. He said, "How will Allah bring this to life after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years; then He revived him. He said, "How long have you remained?" The man said, "I have remained a day or part of a day." He said, "Rather, you have remained one hundred years. Look at your food and your drink; it has not changed with time. And look at your donkey; and We will make you a sign for the people. And look at the bones [of this donkey] - how We raise them and then We cover them with flesh." And when it became clear to him, he said, "I know that Allah is over all things competent."

جو حکمت والا ہے

Urdu —

وہی ہے جو (ماؤں کے) رحموں میں تمہاری صورتیں جس طرح چاہتا ہے بناتا ہے، اس کے سوا کوئی لائقِ پرستش نہیں (وہ) بڑا غالب بڑی حکمت والا ہے

It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

قُلۡ يٰۤاَهۡلَ الۡكِتٰبِ تَعَالَوۡا اِلٰى كَلِمَةٍ سَوَآءٍۢ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ اَلَّا نَـعۡبُدَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهٖ شَيْئًا وَّلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا اَرۡبَابًا مِّنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ فَاِنۡ تَوَلَّوۡا فَقُوۡلُوۡا اشۡهَدُوۡا بِاَنَّا مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Qul ya ahla alkitabi taAAalawila kalimatin sawa-in baynana wabaynakum allanaAAbuda illa Allaha wala nushrika bihishay-an wala yattakhitha baAAdunabaAAdan arbaban min dooni Allahi fa-intawallaw faqooloo ishhadoo bi-anna muslimoon

پھر اگر

tawallaw

they turn away

وہ منہ موڑ جائیں

faqūlū

then say

تو کہہ دو

ish'hadū

Bear witness

گواہ رہو

bi-annā

that we

بوجہ اس کہ بیشک

mus'limūna

(are) Muslims

مسلمان ہیں

Urdu —

آپ فرما دیں: اے اہلِ کتاب! تم اس بات کی طرف آجاؤ جو ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان یکساں ہے، (وہ یہ) کہ ہم اﷲ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہیں کریں گے اور ہم اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہیں ٹھہرائیں گے اور ہم میں سے کوئی ایک دوسرے کو اﷲ کے سوا رب نہیں بنائے گا، پھر اگر وہ روگردانی کریں تو کہہ دو کہ گواہ ہو جاؤ کہ ہم تو اﷲ کے تابع فرمان (مسلمان) ہیں

— English

Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."

یہ اللہ کی آیتیں ہیں جنہیں ہم آپ پر حق کے ساتھ پڑھتے ہیں، اور اللہ جہان والوں پر ظلم نہیں چاہتا

These are the verses of Allah. We recite them to you, [O Muhammad], in truth; and Allah wants no injustice to the worlds.

and wretched

اور کتنا برا ہے

(is the) abode

ٹھکانہ

l-ẓālimīna

[of] the wrongdoers

ظالموں کا۔ ان کا جو ظالم ہیں

Urdu —

ہم عنقریب کافروں کے دلوں میں (تمہارا) رعب ڈال دیں گے اس وجہ سے کہ انہوں نے اس چیز کو اللہ کا شریک ٹھہرایا ہے جس کے لئے اللہ نے کوئی سند نہیں اتاری اور ان کا ٹھکانا دوزخ ہے اور ظالموں کا (وہ) ٹھکانا بہت ہی برا ہے

— English

We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve for what they have associated with Allah of which He had not sent down [any] authority. And their refuge will be the Fire, and wretched is the residence of the wrongdoers.

کیا جب تمہیں ایک مصیبت آپہنچی حالانکہ تم اس سے دو چند (دشمن کو) پہنچا چکے تھے تو تم کہنے لگے کہ یہ کہاں سے آپڑی؟ فرما دیں: یہ تمہاری اپنی ہی طرف سے ہے بیشک اللہ ہر چیز پر خوب قدرت رکھتا ہے

— English

Why [is it that] when a [single] disaster struck you [on the day of Uhud], although you had struck [the enemy in the battle of Badr] with one twice as great, you said, "From where is this?" Say, "It is from yourselves." Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

Allatheena yathkuroona Allahaqiyaman waquAAoodan waAAala junoobihimwayatafakkaroona fee khalqi assamawati wal-ardirabbana ma khalaqta hatha batilan subhanakafaqina AAathaba annar

(of) the heavens

آسمانوں کی

wal-arḍi

and the earth

اور زمین کی پیدائش میں (وہ کہہ اٹھتے ہیں)

rabbanā

Our Lord

اے ہمارے رب

نہیں

khalaqta

You have created

تو نے پیدا کیا

hādhā

this

یہ (سب)

bāṭilan

(in) vain

باطل۔ ناحق۔ بےفائدہ۔ بےمقصد

sub'ḥānaka

Glory be to You

پاک ہے تو

faqinā

so save us

پس بچا ہم کو

ʿadhāba

(from the) punishment

عذاب سے

l-nāri

(of) the Fire

آگ کے

Urdu —

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جو (سراپا نیاز بن کر) کھڑے اور (سراپا ادب بن کر) بیٹھے اور (ہجر میں تڑپتے ہوئے) اپنی کروٹوں پر (بھی) اللہ کو یاد کرتے رہتے ہیں اور آسمانوں اور زمین کی تخلیق (میں کارفرما اس کی عظمت اور حُسن کے جلووں) میں فکر کرتے رہتے ہیں، (پھر اس کی معرفت سے لذت آشنا ہو کر پکار اٹھتے ہیں:) اے ہمارے رب! تو نے یہ (سب کچھ) بے حکمت اور بے تدبیر نہیں بنایا، تو (سب کوتاہیوں اور مجبوریوں سے) پاک ہے پس ہمیں دوزخ کے عذاب سے بچا لے

— English

Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

Inna Allaha la yathlimumithqala tharratin wa-in taku hasanatan yudaAAifhawayu/ti min ladunhu ajran AAatheema

بڑا

Urdu —

بیشک اللہ ذرّہ برابر بھی ظلم نہیں کرتا، اور اگر کوئی نیکی ہو تو اسے دوگنا کر دیتا ہے اور اپنے پاس سے بڑا اجر عطا فرماتا ہے

Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom's weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.

Aynama takoonoo yudrikkumu almawtuwalaw kuntum fee buroojin mushayyadatin wa-in tusibhum hasanatunyaqooloo hathihi min AAindi Allahi wa-in tusibhumsayyi-atun yaqooloo hathihi min AAindika qul kullun minAAindi Allahi famali haola-i alqawmila yakadoona yafqahoona hadeetha

Urdu —

(اے موت کے ڈر سے جہاد سے گریز کرنے والو!) تم جہاں کہیں (بھی) ہوگے موت تمہیں (وہیں) آپکڑے گی خواہ تم مضبوط قلعوں میں (ہی) ہو، اور (ان کی ذہنیت یہ ہے کہ) اگر انہیں کوئی بھلائی (فائدہ) پہنچے توکہتے ہیں کہ یہ (تو) اللہ کی طرف سے ہے (اس میں رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی برکت اور واسطے کا کوئی دخل نہیں)، اور اگر انہیں کوئی برائی (نقصان) پہنچے تو کہتے ہیں: (اے رسول!) یہ آپ کی طرف سے (یعنی آپ کی وجہ سے) ہے۔ آپ فرما دیں: (حقیقۃً) سب کچھ اللہ کی طرف سے (ہوتا) ہے۔ پس اس قوم کو کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ یہ کوئی بات سمجھنے کے قریب ہی نہیں آتے

Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, "This is from Allah "; and if evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you." Say, "All [things] are from Allah." So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement?

فَاِذَا قَضَيۡتُمُ الصَّلٰوةَ فَاذۡكُرُوا اللّٰهَ قِيَامًا وَّقُعُوۡدًا وَّعَلٰى جُنُوۡبِكُمۡ ۚؕ فَاِذَا اطۡمَاۡنَنۡتُمۡ فَاَقِيۡمُوۡا الصَّلٰوةَ‌ ۚ اِنَّ الصَّلٰوةَ كَانَتۡ عَلَى الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ كِتٰبًا مَّوۡقُوۡتًا‏ 

— Transliteration

Fa-itha qadaytumu assalatafathkuroo Allaha qiyaman waquAAoodanwaAAala junoobikum fa-itha itma/nantumfaaqeemoo assalata inna assalatakanat AAala almu/mineena kitaban mawqoota

the believers

مومنوں پر

prescribed

فرض

mawqūtan

(at) fixed times

وقت کی پابندی کے ساتھ

Urdu —

پھر (اے مسلمانو!) جب تم نماز ادا کر چکو تو اللہ کو کھڑے اور بیٹھے اور اپنے پہلوؤں پر (لیٹے ہر حال میں) یاد کرتے رہو، پھر جب تم (حالتِ خوف سے نکل کر) اطمینان پالو تو نماز کو (حسبِ دستور) قائم کرو۔ بیشک نماز مومنوں پر مقررہ وقت کے حساب سے فرض ہے

— English

And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides. But when you become secure, re-establish [regular] prayer. Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.

Waman ahsanu deenan mimman aslamawajhahu lillahi wahuwa muhsinun wattabaAAamillata ibraheema haneefan wattakhathaAllahu ibraheema khaleela

And was taken

khalīlan

(as) a friend

دوست

Urdu —

اور دین اختیار کرنے کے اعتبار سے اُس شخص سے بہتر کون ہو سکتا ہے جس نے اپنا رُوئے نیاز اللہ کے لئے جھکا دیا اور وہ صاحبِ احسان بھی ہوا، اور وہ دینِ ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کی پیروی کرتا رہا جو (اللہ کے لئے) یک سُو (اور) راست رَو تھے، اور اللہ نے ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کو اپنا مخلص دوست بنا لیا تھا (سو وہ شخص بھی حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام کی نسبت سے اللہ کا دوست ہو گیا) o

— English

And who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.

اور (سب) اللہ ہی کا ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں میں اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے اور اللہ ہر چیز کا احاطہ فرمائے ہوئے ہےo

And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And ever is Allah, of all things, encompassing.

Urdu —

اے لوگو! اگر وہ چاہے تو تمہیں نابود کر دے اور (تمہاری جگہ) دوسروں کو لے آئے، اور اللہ اس پر بڑی قدرت والا ہےo

If He wills, He can do away with you, O people, and bring others [in your place]. And ever is Allah competent to do that.

Ya ahla alkitabi lataghloo fee deenikum wala taqooloo AAala Allahiilla alhaqqa innama almaseehu AAeesaibnu maryama rasoolu Allahi wakalimatuhu alqahaila maryama waroohun minhu faaminoo billahiwarusulihi wala taqooloo thalathatun intahookhayran lakum innama Allahu ilahun wahidunsubhanahu an yakoona lahu waladun lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakafa billahiwakeela

desist

باز آجاؤ۔ رک جاؤ

(it is) better

بہتر ہے

for you.

تمہارے لیے

innamā

Only

بیشک

Allah

اللہ تعالیٰ

(is) God

الہ ہے

One

ایک

sub'ḥānahu

Glory be to Him

پاک ہے وہ

That

کہ

He (should) have

ہو

lahu

for Him

اس کے لیے

a son

کوئی بیٹا

To Him (belongs)

اس کے لیے ہے

whatever

جو

the heavens

and whatever

(as) a Disposer of affairs

Urdu —

اے اہلِ کتاب! تم اپنے دین میں حد سے زائد نہ بڑھو اور اﷲ کی شان میں سچ کے سوا کچھ نہ کہو، حقیقت صرف یہ ہے کہ مسیح عیسٰی ابن مریم (علیہما السلام) اﷲ کا رسول اور اس کا کلمہ ہے جسے اس نے مریم کی طرف پہنچا دیا اور اس (کی طرف) سے ایک روح ہے۔ پس تم اﷲ اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لاؤ اور مت کہو کہ (معبود) تین ہیں، (اس عقیدہ سے) باز آجاؤ، (یہ) تمہارے لئے بہتر ہے۔ بیشک اﷲ ہی یکتا معبود ہے، وہ اس سے پاک ہے کہ اس کے لئے کوئی اولاد ہو، (سب کچھ) اسی کا ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں میں ہے اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے، اور اﷲ کا کارساز ہونا کافی ہےo

— English

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مَنۡ يَّرۡتَدَّ مِنۡكُمۡ عَنۡ دِيۡـنِهٖ فَسَوۡفَ يَاۡتِىۡ اللّٰهُ بِقَوۡمٍ يُّحِبُّهُمۡ وَيُحِبُّوۡنَهٗۤ ۙ اَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ اَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ يُجَاهِدُوۡنَ فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ وَلَا يَخَافُوۡنَ لَوۡمَةَ لَآٮِٕمٍ‌ؕ ذٰلِكَ فَضۡلُ اللّٰهِ يُؤۡتِيۡهِ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيۡمٌ‏ 

— Transliteration

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooman yartadda minkum AAan deenihi fasawfa ya/tee Allahubiqawmin yuhibbuhum wayuhibboonahu athillatinAAala almu/mineena aAAizzatin AAala alkafireenayujahidoona fee sabeeli Allahi wala yakhafoonalawmata la-imin thalika fadlu Allahiyu/teehi man yashao wallahu wasiAAunAAaleem

And Allah

(is) All-Encompassing

وسعت والا ہے

ʿalīmun

All-Knowing

علم والا ہے

Urdu —

اے ایمان والو! تم میں سے جو شخص اپنے دین سے پھر جائے گا تو عنقریب اﷲ (ان کی جگہ) ایسی قوم کو لائے گا جن سے وہ (خود) محبت فرماتا ہوگا اور وہ اس سے محبت کرتے ہوں گے وہ مومنوں پر نرم (اور) کافروں پر سخت ہوں گے اﷲ کی راہ میں (خوب) جہاد کریں گے اور کسی ملامت کرنے والے کی ملامت سے خوفزدہ نہیں ہوں گے۔ یہ (انقلابی کردار) اللہ کافضل ہے وہ جسے چاہتا ہے عطا فرماتا ہے اور اﷲ وسعت والا (ہے) خوب جاننے والا ہے

O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, powerful against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

wal-lahu

(is) Oft-Forgiving

بخشنے والا

ḥalīmun

All-Forbearing

مہربان ہے

Urdu —

اے ایمان والو! تم ایسی چیزوں کی نسبت سوال مت کیا کرو (جن پر قرآن خاموش ہو) کہ اگر وہ تمہارے لئے ظاہر کر دی جائیں تو تمہیں مشقت میں ڈال دیں (اور تمہیں بری لگیں)، اور اگر تم ان کے بارے میں اس وقت سوال کرو گے جبکہ قرآن نازل کیا جا رہا ہے تو وہ تم پر (نزولِ حکم کے ذریعے ظاہر (یعنی متعیّن) کر دی جائیں گی (جس سے تمہاری صواب دید ختم ہو جائے گی اور تم ایک ہی حکم کے پابند ہو جاؤ گے)۔ اللہ نے ان (باتوں اور سوالوں) سے (اب تک) درگزر فرمایا ہے، اور اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا بردبار ہے

O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you. But if you ask about them while the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be shown to you. Allah has pardoned that which is past; and Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.

وَعِنۡدَهٗ مَفَاتِحُ الۡغَيۡبِ لَا يَعۡلَمُهَاۤ اِلَّا هُوَ‌ؕ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا فِىۡ الۡبَرِّ وَالۡبَحۡرِ‌ؕ وَمَا تَسۡقُطُ مِنۡ وَّرَقَةٍ اِلَّا يَعۡلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِىۡ ظُلُمٰتِ الۡاَرۡضِ وَلَا رَطۡبٍ وَّلَا يَابِسٍ اِلَّا فِىۡ كِتٰبٍ مُّبِيۡنٍ‏ 

— Transliteration

WaAAindahu mafatihu alghaybi layaAAlamuha illa huwa wayaAAlamu ma feealbarri walbahri wama tasqutu minwaraqatin illa yaAAlamuha wala habbatinfee thulumati al-ardi wala ratbinwala yabisin illa fee kitabin mubeen

کتاب میں ہے

Clear

ایک روشن

Urdu —

اور غیب کی کُنجیاں (یعنی وہ راستے جس سے غیب کسی پر آشکار کیا جاتا ہے) اسی کے پاس (اس کی قدرت و ملکیت میں) ہیں، انہیں اس کے سوا (اَز خود) کوئی نہیں جانتا، اور وہ ہر اس چیز کو (بلاواسطہ) جانتا ہے جو خشکی میں اور دریاؤں میں ہے، اور کوئی پتّا نہیں گرتا مگر (یہ کہ) وہ اسے جانتا ہے اور نہ زمین کی تاریکیوں میں کوئی (ایسا) دانہ ہے اور نہ کوئی تر چیز ہے اور نہ کوئی خشک چیز مگر روشن کتاب میں (سب کچھ لکھ دیا گیا ہے)

And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.

وَهُوَ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ بِالۡحَـقِّ‌ؕ وَيَوۡمَ يَقُوۡلُ كُنۡ فَيَكُوۡنُ ؕ قَوۡلُهُ الۡحَـقُّ‌ ؕ وَلَهُ الۡمُلۡكُ يَوۡمَ يُنۡفَخُ فِىۡ الصُّوۡرِ‌ؕ عٰلِمُ الۡغَيۡبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ‌ؕ وَهُوَ الۡحَكِيۡمُ الۡخَبِيۡرُ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda bilhaqqi wayawma yaqoolukun fayakoonu qawluhu alhaqqu walahu almulku yawmayunfakhu fee assoori AAalimu alghaybi washshahadatiwahuwa alhakeemu alkhabeer

(is) the truth

سچ ہے

And for Him

اور اس کے لیے

l-mul'ku

(is) the Dominion

بادشاہی ہے

yawma

(on the) Day

جس دن

yunfakhu

will be blown

پھونکا جائے گا

fī

میں

l-ṣūri

the trumpet

صور

ʿālimu

(He is) All-Knower

جاننے والا ہے

l-ghaybi

(of) the unseen

غیب کا

wal-shahādati

and the seen

اور حاضر

wahuwa

And He

اور وہ

l-ḥakīmu

(is) the All-Wise

حکمت والا

l-khabīru

the All-Aware

خبر رکھنے والا ہے

Urdu —

اور وہی (اﷲ) ہے جس نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو حق (پر مبنی تدبیر) کے ساتھ پیدا فرمایا ہے اور جس دن وہ فرمائے گا: ہوجا، تو وہ (روزِ محشر بپا) ہو جائے گا۔ اس کا فرمان حق ہے، اور اس دن اسی کی بادشاہی ہوگی جب (اسرافیل کے ذریعے صور میں پھونک ماری جائے گے، (وہی) ہر پوشیدہ اور ظاہر کا جاننے والا ہے، اور وہی بڑا حکمت والا خبردار ہے

And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth. And the day He says, "Be," and it is, His word is the truth. And His is the dominion [on] the Day the Horn is blown. [He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed; and He is the Wise, the Acquainted.

قَدۡ خَسِرَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَتَلُوۡۤا اَوۡلَادَهُمۡ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍ وَّحَرَّمُوۡا مَا رَزَقَهُمُ اللّٰهُ افۡتِرَآءً عَلَى اللّٰهِ‌ؕ قَدۡ ضَلُّوۡا وَمَا كَانُوۡا مُهۡتَدِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Qad khasira allatheena qataloo awladahumsafahan bighayri AAilmin waharramoo ma razaqahumuAllahu iftiraan AAala Allahi qad dalloowama kanoo muhtadeen

Certainly,

تحقیق

they have ne astray

وہ بھٹک گئے

wamā

and not

اور نہ

kānū

they are

تھے

muh'tadīna

guided-ones

وہ ہدایت پانے والے

Urdu —

واقعی ایسے لوگ برباد ہوگئے جنہوں نے اپنی اولاد کو بغیر علمِ (صحیح) کے (محض) بیوقوفی سے قتل کر ڈالا اور ان (چیزوں) کو جو اﷲ نے انہیں (روزی کے طور پر) بخشی تھیں اﷲ پر بہتان باندھتے ہوئے حرام کر ڈالا، بیشک وہ گمراہ ہو گئے اور ہدایت یافتہ نہ ہو سکے

— English

Those will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allah had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allah. They have gone astray and were not [rightly] guided.

سَيَـقُوۡلُ الَّذِيۡنَ اَشۡرَكُوۡا لَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ مَاۤ اَشۡرَكۡنَا وَلَاۤ اٰبَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمۡنَا مِنۡ شَىۡءٍ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ الَّذِيۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِهِمۡ حَتّٰى ذَاقُوۡا بَاۡسَنَا‌ؕ قُلۡ هَلۡ عِنۡدَكُمۡ مِّنۡ عِلۡمٍ فَتُخۡرِجُوۡهُ لَـنَاؕ اِنۡ تَتَّبِعُوۡنَ اِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَاِنۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ اِلَّا تَخۡرُصُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Sayaqoolu allatheena ashrakoo law shaaAllahu ma ashrakna wala abaonawala harramna min shay-in kathalikakaththaba allatheena min qablihim hattathaqoo ba/sana qul hal AAindakum min AAilminfatukhrijoohu lana in tattabiAAoona illa aththannawa-in antum illa takhrusoon

the assumption

گمان کی

wa-in

and not

اور نہیں

antum

you (do)

تم

but

مگر

takhruṣūna

guess

تم قیاس آرائیاں کرتے ہو

Urdu —

جلد ہی مشرک لوگ کہیں گے کہ اگر اﷲ چاہتا تو نہ (ہی) ہم شرک کرتے اور نہ ہمارے آباء و اجداد اور نہ کسی چیز کو (بلا سند) حرام قرار دیتے۔ اسی طرح ان لوگوں نے بھی جھٹلایا تھا جو ان سے پہلے تھے حتٰی کہ انہوں نے ہمارا عذاب چکھ لیا۔ فرما دیجئے: کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی (قابلِ حجت) علم ہے کہ تم اسے ہمارے لئے نکال لاؤ (تو اسے پیش کرو)، تم (علمِ یقینی کو چھوڑ کر) صرف گمان ہی کی پیروی کرتے ہو اور تم محض (تخمینہ کی بنیاد پر) دروغ گوئی کرتے ہو

— English

Those who associated with Allah will say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have associated [anything] and neither would our fathers, nor would we have prohibited anything." Likewise did those before deny until they tasted Our punishment. Say, "Do you have any knowledge that you can produce for us? You follow not except assumption, and you are not but falsifying."

قُلۡ مَنۡ حَرَّمَ زِيۡنَةَ اللّٰهِ الَّتِىۡۤ اَخۡرَجَ لِعِبَادِهٖ وَالطَّيِّبٰتِ مِنَ الرِّزۡقِ‌ؕ قُلۡ هِىَ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا فِى الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا خَالِصَةً يَّوۡمَ الۡقِيٰمَةِ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الۡاٰيٰتِ لِقَوۡمٍ يَّعۡلَمُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Qul man harrama zeenata Allahiallatee akhraja liAAibadihi wattayyibatimina arrizqi qul hiya lillatheena amanoofee alhayati addunya khalisatanyawma alqiyamati kathalika nufassilu al-ayatiliqawmin yaAAlamoon

We explain

ہم تفصیلا بیان کرتے ہیں

the Signs

آیات

liqawmin

for (the) people

اس قوم کے لئے

yaʿlamūna

who know

جو علم رکھتی ہو

Urdu —

فرما دیجئے: اﷲ کی اس زینت (و آرائش) کو کس نے حرام کیا ہے جو اس نے اپنے بندوں کے لئے پیدا فرمائی ہے اور کھانے کی پاک ستھری چیزوں کو (بھی کس نے حرام کیا ہے)؟ فرما دیجئے: یہ (سب نعمتیں جو) اہلِ ایمان کی دنیا کی زندگی میں (بالعموم روا) ہیں قیامت کے دن بالخصوص (انہی کے لئے) ہوں گی۔ اس طرح ہم جاننے والوں کے لئے آیتیں تفصیل سے بیان کرتے ہیں

— English

Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the worldly life [but] exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection." Thus do We detail the verses for a people who know.

وَاِذۡ يَمۡكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا لِيُثۡبِتُوۡكَ اَوۡ يَقۡتُلُوۡكَ اَوۡ يُخۡرِجُوۡكَ‌ؕ وَيَمۡكُرُوۡنَ وَيَمۡكُرُ اللّٰهُ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ خَيۡرُ الۡمٰكِرِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wa-ith yamkuru bika allatheenakafaroo liyuthbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijooka wayamkuroonawayamkuru Allahu wallahu khayru almakireen

and (also) was planning

اور تدبیر کر رہا تھا

And Allah

اور اللہ

is (the) Best

سب سے بہتر

l-mākirīna

(of) the Planners

تدبیر کرنے والا ہے

Urdu —

اور جب کافر لوگ آپ کے خلاف خفیہ سازشیں کر رہے تھے کہ وہ آپ کو قید کر دیں یا آپ کو قتل کر ڈالیں یا آپ کو (وطن سے) نکال دیں، اور (اِدھر) وہ سازشی منصوبے بنا رہے تھے اور (اُدھر) اللہ (ان کے مکر کے ردّ کے لئے اپنی) تدبیر فرما رہا تھا، اور اللہ سب سے بہتر مخفی تدبیر فرمانے والا ہے

— English

And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners.

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا يُنۡفِقُوۡنَ اَمۡوَالَهُمۡ لِيَصُدُّوۡا عَنۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ فَسَيُنۡفِقُوۡنَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُوۡنُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَسۡرَةً ثُمَّ يُغۡلَبُوۡنَ ؕ وَالَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡۤا اِلٰى جَهَـنَّمَ يُحۡشَرُوۡنَۙ‏ 

— Transliteration

Inna allatheena kafaroo yunfiqoonaamwalahum liyasuddoo AAan sabeeli Allahifasayunfiqoonaha thumma takoonu AAalayhim hasratanthumma yughlaboona wallatheena kafaroo ilajahannama yuhsharoon

a regret

حسرت کا سبب

پھر

yugh'labūna

they will be overcome

وہ مغلوب کئے جائیں گے

wa-alladhīna

And those who

اور وہ لوگ

kafarū

disbelieve

جنہوں نے کفر کیا

ilā

طرف

jahannama

Hell

جہنم کے

yuḥ'sharūna

they will be gathered

وہ اکٹھے کیے جائیں گے

Urdu —

بیشک کافر لوگ اپنا مال و دولت (اس لئے) خرچ کرتے ہیں کہ (اس کے اثر سے) وہ (لوگوں کو) اللہ (کے دین) کی راہ سے روکیں، سو ابھی وہ اسے خرچ کرتے رہیں گے پھر (یہ خرچ کرنا) ان کے حق میں پچھتاوا (یعنی حسرت و ندامت) بن جائے گا پھر وہ (گرفتِ الٰہی کے ذریعے) مغلوب کر دیئے جائیں گے، اور جن لوگوں نے کفر اپنا لیا ہے وہ دوزخ کی طرف ہانکے جائیں گے

— English

Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allah. So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome. And those who have disbelieved - unto Hell they will be gathered.

وَاعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّمَا غَنِمۡتُمۡ مِّنۡ شَىۡءٍ فَاَنَّ لِلّٰهِ خُمُسَهٗ وَلِلرَّسُوۡلِ وَلِذِىۡ الۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَالۡيَتٰمٰى وَالۡمَسٰكِيۡنِ وَابۡنِ السَّبِيۡلِۙ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ اٰمَنۡتُمۡ بِاللّٰهِ وَمَاۤ اَنۡزَلۡنَا عَلٰى عَبۡدِنَا يَوۡمَ الۡفُرۡقَانِ يَوۡمَ الۡتَقَى الۡجَمۡعٰنِ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌ‏ 

— Transliteration

WaAAlamoo annama ghanimtummin shay-in faanna lillahi khumusahu walirrasooliwalithee alqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwabni assabeeli in kuntum amantum billahiwama anzalna AAala AAabdina yawmaalfurqani yawma iltaqa aljamAAani wallahuAAala kulli shay-in qadeer

and the needy

اور مسکینوں کے لیے

wayfarer

اور مسافروں کے لیے

اگر

kuntum

you

ہو تم

believe

ایمان لائے تم

bil-lahi

in Allah

اللہ پر

wamā

and (in) what

اور جو

We sent down

نازل کیا ہم نے

(of) the criterion

فیصلے کے (دن)

All-Powerful

قدرت رکھنے والا ہے

Urdu —

اور جان لو کہ جو کچھ مالِ غنیمت تم نے پایا ہو تو اس کا پانچواں حصہ اللہ کے لئے اور رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے لئے اور (رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے) قرابت داروں کے لئے (ہے) اور یتیموں اور محتاجوں اور مسافروں کے لئے ہے۔ اگر تم اللہ پر اور اس (وحی) پر ایمان لائے ہو جو ہم نے اپنے (برگزیدہ) بندے پر (حق و باطل کے درمیان) فیصلے کے دن نازل فرمائی وہ دن (جب میدانِ بدر میں مومنوں اور کافروں کے) دونوں لشکر باہم مقابل ہوئے تھے، اور اللہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے

— English

And know that anything you obtain of war booty - then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our Servant on the day of criterion - the day when the two armies met. And Allah, over all things, is competent.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ قُلْ لِّمَنۡ فِىۡۤ اَيۡدِيۡكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡاَسۡرٰٓىۙ اِنۡ يَّعۡلَمِ اللّٰهُ فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِكُمۡ خَيۡرًا يُّؤۡتِكُمۡ خَيۡرًا مِّمَّاۤ اُخِذَ مِنۡكُمۡ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَـكُمۡ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ‏ 

— Transliteration

Ya ayyuha annabiyyuqul liman fee aydeekum mina al-asra in yaAAlami Allahufee quloobikum khayran yu/tikum khayran mimma okhithaminkum wayaghfir lakum wallahu ghafoorun raheem

And Allah

(is) Oft-Forgiving

Most Merciful

Urdu —

اے نبی! آپ ان سے جو آپ کے ہاتھوں میں قیدی ہیں فرما دیجئے: اگر اللہ نے تمہارے دلوں میں بھلائی جان لی تو تمہیں اس (مال) سے بہتر عطا فرمائے گا جو (فدیہ میں) تم سے لیا جا چکا ہے اور تمہیں بخش دے گا، اور اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے

— English

O Prophet, say to whoever is in your hands of the captives, "If Allah knows [any] good in your hearts, He will give you [something] better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

— Transliteration

YaAAtathiroona ilaykum itharajaAAtum ilayhim qul la taAAtathiroo lan nu/minalakum qad nabbaana Allahu min akhbarikumwasayara Allahu AAamalakum warasooluhu thummaturaddoona ila AAalimi alghaybi washshahadatifayunabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloon

Urdu —

(اے مسلمانو!) وہ تم سے عذر خواہی کریں گے جب تم ان کی طرف (اس سفرِ تبوک سے) پلٹ کر جاؤ گے، (اے حبیب!) آپ فرما دیجئے: بہانے مت بناؤ ہم ہرگز تمہاری بات پر یقین نہیں کریں گے، ہمیں اﷲ نے تمہارے حالات سے باخبر کردیا ہے، اور اب (آئندہ) تمہارا عمل (دنیا میں بھی) اﷲ دیکھے گا اور اس کا رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) بھی (دیکھے گا) پھر تم (آخرت میں بھی) ہر پوشیدہ اور ظاہر کو جاننے والے (رب) کی طرف لوٹائے جاؤ گے تو وہ تمہیں ان تمام (اعمال) سے خبردار فرما دے گا جو تم کیا کرتے تھے

— English

They will make excuses to you when you have returned to them. Say, "Make no excuse - never will we believe you. Allah has already informed us of your news. And Allah will observe your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger; then you will be taken back to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do."

— English

And say, "Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so, will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do."

Urdu —

بیشک اللہ ہی کے لئے آسمانوں اور زمین کی ساری بادشاہی ہے، (وہی) جِلاتا اور مارتا ہے، اور تمہارے لئے اﷲ کے سوا نہ کوئی دوست ہے اور نہ کوئی مددگار (جو اَمرِ الہٰی کے خلاف تمہاری حمایت کر سکے

— English

Indeed, to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death. And you have not besides Allah any protector or any helper.

— Transliteration

Ma kana li-ahli almadeenatiwaman hawlahum mina al-aAArabi an yatakhallafooAAan rasooli Allahi wala yarghaboo bi-anfusihimAAan nafsihi thalika bi-annahum la yuseebuhumthamaon wala nasabun walamakhmasatun fee sabeeli Allahi wala yataoonamawti-an yagheethu alkuffara walayanaloona min AAaduwwin naylan illa kutiba lahumbihi AAamalun salihun inna Allaha layudeeAAu ajra almuhsineen

اہلِ مدینہ اور ان کے گرد و نواح کے (رہنے والے) دیہاتی لوگوں کے لئے مناسب نہ تھا کہ وہ رسول اﷲ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے (الگ ہو کر) پیچھے رہ جائیں اور نہ یہ کہ ان کی جانِ (مبارک) سے زیادہ اپنی جانوں سے رغبت رکھیں، یہ (حکم) اس لئے ہے کہ انہیں اﷲ کی راہ میں جو پیاس (بھی) لگتی ہے اور جو مشقت (بھی) پہنچتی ہے اور جو بھوک (بھی) لگتی ہے اور جو کسی ایسی جگہ پر چلتے ہیں جہاں کاچلنا کافروں کو غضبناک کرتا ہے اور دشمن سے جو کچھ بھی پاتے ہیں (خواہ قتل اور زخم ہو یا مالِ غنیمت وغیرہ) مگر یہ کہ ہر ایک بات کے بدلہ میں ان کے لئے ایک نیک عمل لکھا جاتا ہے۔ بیشک اللہ نیکوکاروں کا اَجر ضائع نہیں فرماتا

— English

It was not [proper] for the people of Madinah and those surrounding them of the bedouins that they remain behind after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allah or that they prefer themselves over his self. That is because they are not afflicted by thirst or fatigue or hunger in the cause of Allah, nor do they tread on any ground that enrages the disbelievers, nor do they inflict upon an enemy any infliction but that is registered for them as a righteous deed. Indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of the doers of good.

وَاِذَا مَسَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ الضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۡۢبِهٖۤ اَوۡ قَاعِدًا اَوۡ قَآٮِٕمًا ۚ فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُ ضُرَّهٗ مَرَّ كَاَنۡ لَّمۡ يَدۡعُنَاۤ اِلٰى ضُرٍّ مَّسَّهٗ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِيۡنَ مَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wa-itha massa al-insana addurrudaAAana lijanbihi aw qaAAidan aw qa-imanfalamma kashafna AAanhu durrahu marra kaanlam yadAAuna ila durrin massahu kathalikazuyyina lilmusrifeena ma kanoo yaAAmaloon

Urdu —

اور جب (ایسے) انسان کو کوئی تکلیف پہنچتی ہے تو وہ ہمیں اپنے پہلو پر لیٹے یا بیٹھے یا کھڑے پکارتا ہے، پھر جب ہم اس سے اس کی تکلیف دور کردیتے ہیں تو وہ (ہمیں بھلا کر اس طرح) چل دیتا ہے گویا اس نے کسی تکلیف میں جو اسے پہنچی تھی ہمیں (کبھی) پکارا ہی نہیں تھا۔ اسی طرح حد سے بڑھنے والوں کے لئے ان کے (غلط) اَعمال آراستہ کر کے دکھائے گئے ہیں جو وہ کرتے رہے تھے

And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing

Wahuwa allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda fee sittati ayyamin wakanaAAarshuhu AAala alma-i liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanuAAamalan wala-in qulta innakum mabAAoothoona min baAAdi almawtilayaqoolanna allatheena kafaroo in hatha illasihrun mubeen

Urdu —

اور وہی (اﷲ) ہے جس نے آسمانوں اور زمین (کی بالائی و زیریں کائناتوں) کو چھ روز (یعنی تخلیق و اِرتقاء کے چھ اَدوار و مراحل) میں پیدا فرمایا اور (تخلیقِ اَرضی سے قبل) اس کا تختِ اقتدار پانی پر تھا (اور اس نے اس سے زندگی کے تمام آثار کو اور تمہیں پیدا کیا) تاکہ وہ تمہیں آزمائے کہ تم میں سے کون عمل کے اعتبار سے بہتر ہے؟ اور اگر آپ یہ فرمائیں کہ تم لوگ مرنے کے بعد (زندہ کر کے) اٹھائے جاؤ گے تو کافر یقینًا (یہ) کہیں گے کہ یہ تو صریح جادو کے سوا کچھ (اور) نہیں ہے

And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and His Throne had been upon water - that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. But if you say, "Indeed, you are resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will surely say, "This is not but obvious magic."

عٰلِمُ الۡغَيۡبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الۡكَبِيۡرُ الۡمُتَعَالِ‏ 

— Transliteration

AAalimu alghaybi washshahadatialkabeeru almutaAAal

(اے سننے والے!) کیا تو نے نہیں دیکھا کہ بیشک اللہ نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو حق (پر مبنی حکمت) کے ساتھ پیدا فرمایا۔ اگر وہ چاہے (تو) تمہیں نیست و نابود فرما دے اور (تمہاری جگہ) نئی مخلوق لے آئے

Have you not seen that Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He wills, He can do away with you and produce a new creation.

And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.

Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.

Then, has your Lord chosen you for [having] sons and taken from among the angels daughters? Indeed, you say a grave saying.

وہ دن (یاد کریں) جب ہم لوگوں کے ہر طبقہ کو ان کے پیشوا کے ساتھ بلائیں گے، سو جسے اس کا نوشتۂ اَعمال اس کے دائیں ہاتھ میں دیا جائے گا پس یہ لوگ اپنا نامۂ اعمال (مسرت و شادمانی سے) پڑھیں گے اور ان پر دھاگے برابر بھی ظلم نہیں کیا جائے گا

— English

[Mention, O Muhammad], the Day We will call forth every people with their record [of deeds]. Then whoever is given his record in his right hand - those will read their records, and injustice will not be done to them, [even] as much as a thread [inside the date seed].

وَنَضَعُ الۡمَوَازِيۡنَ الۡقِسۡطَ لِيَوۡمِ الۡقِيٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظۡلَمُ نَفۡسٌ شَيْئًا ؕ وَاِنۡ كَانَ مِثۡقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنۡ خَرۡدَلٍ اَتَيۡنَا بِهَا‌ؕ وَكَفٰى بِنَا حٰسِبِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

WanadaAAu almawazeena alqistaliyawmi alqiyamati fala tuthlamunafsun shay-an wa-in kana mithqala habbatinmin khardalin atayna biha wakafa binahasibeen

اور ہم قیامت کے دن عدل و انصاف کے ترازو رکھ دیں گے سو کسی جان پر کوئی ظلم نہ کیا جائے گا، اور اگر (کسی کا عمل) رائی کے دانہ کے برابر بھی ہوگا (تو) ہم اسے (بھی) حاضر کر دیں گے، اور ہم حساب کرنے کو کافی ہیں

— English

And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

Thalika bima qaddamat yadakawaanna Allaha laysa bithallaminlilAAabeed

"That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants."

وَيَسۡتَعۡجِلُوۡنَكَ بِالۡعَذَابِ وَلَنۡ يُّخۡلِفَ اللّٰهُ وَعۡدَهٗ‌ؕ وَاِنَّ يَوۡمًا عِنۡدَ رَبِّكَ كَاَلۡفِ سَنَةٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

WayastaAAjiloonaka bilAAathabiwalan yukhlifa Allahu waAAdahu wa-inna yawman AAindarabbika kaalfi sanatin mimma taAAuddoon

اور یہ آپ سے عذاب میں جلدی کے خواہش مند ہیں اور اﷲ ہرگز اپنے وعدہ کی خلاف ورزی نہ کرے گا، اور (جب عذاب کا وقت آئے گا) تو (عذاب کا) ایک دن آپ کے رب کے ہاں ایک ہزار سال کی مانند ہے (اس حساب سے) جو تم شمار کرتے ہو

— English

And they urge you to hasten the punishment. But Allah will never fail in His promise. And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count.

Indeed, Allah is Knower of the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and earth. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

— Transliteration

Walaw nashao lamasakhnahumAAala makanatihim fama istataAAoo mudiyyanwala yarjiAAoon

We willed

ہم چاہیں

surely, We (would have) transformed them

البتہ مسخ کردیں ہم ان کو

they would have been able

استطاعت رکھتے ہوں گے

وہ پلٹ سکیں گے

اور اگر ہم چاہتے تو اُن کی رہائش گاہوں پر ہی ہم ان کی صورتیں بگاڑ دیتے پھر نہ وہ آگے جانے کی قدرت رکھتے اور نہ ہی واپس لوٹ سکتے

— English

And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.

Say, "O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ."

Like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants.

— Transliteration

Huwa allathee yuhyee wayumeetufa-itha qada amran fa-innama yaqoolu lahukun fayakoon

وہی ہے جو زندگی دیتا ہے اور موت دیتا ہے پھر جب وہ کسی کام کا فیصلہ فرماتا ہے تو صرف اسے فرما دیتا ہے: "ہو جا" پس وہ ہو جاتا ہے

He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, "Be," and it is.

اور اس کی نشانیوں میں سے یہ بھی ہے کہ آپ (پہلے) زمین کو خشک (اور بے قدر) دیکھتے ہیں پھر جب ہم اس پر پانی برساتے ہیں تو وہ سرسبز و شاداب ہو جاتی ہے اور نمو پانے لگتی ہے، بے شک وہ ذات جس نے اس (مردہ زمین) کو زندہ کیا ہے یقیناً وہی (روزِ قیامت) مُردوں کو زندہ فرمانے والا ہے۔ بے شک وہ ہر چیز پر خوب قادر ہے

And of His signs is that you see the earth stilled, but when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and grows. Indeed, He who has given it life is the Giver of Life to the dead. Indeed, He is over all things competent.

— English

Whoever does righteousness - it is for his [own] soul; and whoever does evil [does so] against it. And your Lord is not ever unjust to [His] servants.

And Allah created the heavens and earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.

وَاِنۡ طَآٮِٕفَتٰنِ مِنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ اقۡتَتَلُوۡا فَاَصۡلِحُوۡا بَيۡنَهُمَا‌ۚ فَاِنۡۢ بَغَتۡ اِحۡدٰٮهُمَا عَلَى الۡاُخۡرٰى فَقَاتِلُوۡا الَّتِىۡ تَبۡغِىۡ حَتّٰى تَفِىۡٓءَ اِلٰٓى اَمۡرِ اللّٰهِ ‌ۚ فَاِنۡ فَآءَتۡ فَاَصۡلِحُوۡا بَيۡنَهُمَا بِالۡعَدۡلِ وَاَقۡسِطُوۡا ؕ‌ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الۡمُقۡسِطِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wa-in ta-ifatani minaalmu/mineena iqtataloo faaslihoo baynahumafa-in baghat ihdahuma AAala al-okhrafaqatiloo allatee tabghee hatta tafee-a ilaamri Allahi fa-in faat faaslihoobaynahuma bilAAadli waaqsitoo inna Allahayuhibbu almuqsiteen

پسند کرتا ہے

those who act justly

انصاف کرنے والوں کو

Urdu —

اور اگر مسلمانوں کے دو گروہ آپس میں جنگ کریں تو اُن کے درمیان صلح کرا دیا کرو، پھر اگر ان میں سے ایک (گروہ) دوسرے پر زیادتی اور سرکشی کرے تو اس (گروہ) سے لڑو جو زیادتی کا مرتکب ہو رہا ہے یہاں تک کہ وہ اﷲ کے حکم کی طرف لوٹ آئے، پھر اگر وہ رجوع کر لے تو دونوں کے درمیان عدل کے ساتھ صلح کرا دو اور انصاف سے کام لو، بیشک اﷲ انصاف کرنے والوں کو بہت پسند فرماتا ہےo

— English

And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah. And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.

— Transliteration

Innama almu/minoona allatheenaamanoo billahi warasoolihi thumma lam yartaboowajahadoo bi-amwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahiola-ika humu assadiqoon

(are) the truthful

Urdu —

ایمان والے تو صرف وہ لوگ ہیں جو اﷲ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر ایمان لائے، پھر شک میں نہ پڑے اور اﷲ کی راہ میں اپنے اموال اور اپنی جانوں سے جہاد کرتے رہے، یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جو (دعوائے ایمان میں) سچےّ ہیںo

The believers are only the ones who have believed in Allah and His Messenger and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of Allah. It is those who are the truthful.

Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do."

And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son

عٰلِمُ الۡغَيۡبِ فَلَا يُظۡهِرُ عَلٰى غَيۡبِهٖۤ اَحَدًاۙ‏ 

— Transliteration

AAalimu alghaybi fala yuthhiruAAala ghaybihi ahada

[He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone

وَمَا جَعَلۡنَاۤ اَصۡحٰبَ النَّارِ اِلَّا مَلٰٓٮِٕكَةً‌ وَّمَا جَعَلۡنَا عِدَّتَهُمۡ اِلَّا فِتۡنَةً لِّلَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡاۙ لِيَسۡتَيۡقِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوۡا الۡكِتٰبَ وَيَزۡدَادَ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِيۡمَانًا‌ وَّلَا يَرۡتَابَ الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوۡا الۡكِتٰبَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ‌ۙ وَلِيَقُوۡلَ الَّذِيۡنَ فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِهِمۡ مَّرَضٌ وَّالۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ مَاذَاۤ اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَا مَثَلًا ‌ؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ وَيَهۡدِىۡ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ ‌ؕ وَمَا يَعۡلَمُ جُنُوۡدَ رَبِّكَ اِلَّا هُوَ ‌ؕ وَمَا هِىَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٰى لِلۡبَشَرِ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wama jaAAalna as-habaannari illa mala-ikatan wamajaAAalna AAiddatahum illa fitnatan lillatheenakafaroo liyastayqina allatheena ootoo alkitabawayazdada allatheena amanoo eemananwala yartaba allatheena ootoo alkitabawalmu/minoona waliyaqoola allatheena feequloobihim maradun walkafiroona mathaarada Allahu bihatha mathalan kathalikayudillu Allahu man yashao wayahdee man yashaowama yaAAlamu junooda rabbika illa huwa wamahiya illa thikra lilbashar

disbelieve

جنہوں نے کفر کیا

liyastayqina

that may be certain

تاکہ یقین آجائے

alladhīna

those who

ان لوگوں کو

ūtū

were given

جو دیے گئے

l-kitāba

the Scripture

کتاب

wayazdāda

and may increase

اور زیادہ ہوجائے

alladhīna

those who

ان لوگوں کا

āmanū

believe

جو ایمان لائے

īmānan

(in) faith

ایمان

walā

and not

اور نہ

yartāba

may doubt

شک میں رہیں

alladhīna

those who

وہ لوگ

ūtū

were given

جو دئیے گئے

l-kitāba

the Scripture

کتاب

wal-mu'minūna

and the believers

اور مومن

waliyaqūla

and that may say

اور تاکہ کہیں

alladhīna

those

وہ لوگ

fī

میں

qulūbihim

their hearts

جن کے دلوں (میں)

maraḍun

(is) a disease

بیماری ہے

wal-kāfirūna

and the disbelievers

اور کافر

mādhā

`What

کیا کچھ

arāda

(does) intend

ارادہ کیا

l-lahu

Allah

اللہ نے

bihādhā

by this

ساتھ اس

mathalan

Thus

اسی طرح

yuḍillu

does let astray

بھٹکا دیتا ہے

He wills

چاہتا ہے

and guides

اور ہدایت دیتا ہے

جس کو

وہ چاہتا ہے

wamā

And none

اور نہیں

yaʿlamu

knows

جانتا

(the) hosts

لشکروں کو

rabbika

(of) your Lord

تیرے رب کے

illā

except

مگر

huwa

Him.

وہی

wamā

And not

اور نہیں

hiya

وہ

illā

(is) but

مگر

dhik'rā

a reminder

نصیحت

lil'bashari

to (the) human beings

انسان کے لیے

Urdu —

اور ہم نے دوزخ کے داروغے صرف فرشتے ہی مقرر کئے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کی گنتی کافروں کے لئے محض آزمائش کے طور پر مقرر کی ہے تاکہ اہلِ کتاب یقین کر لیں (کہ قرآن اور نبوتِ محمدی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حق ہے کیونکہ ان کی کتب میں بھی یہی تعداد بیان کی گئی تھی) اور اہلِ ایمان کا ایمان (اس تصدیق سے) مزید بڑھ جائے، اور اہلِ کتاب اور مومنین (اس کی حقانیت میں) شک نہ کر سکیں، اور تاکہ وہ لوگ جن کے دلوں میں (نفاق کی) بیماری ہے اور کفار یہ کہیں کہ اس (تعداد کی) مثال سے اللہ کی مراد کیا ہے؟ اسی طرح اللہ (ایک ہی بات سے) جسے چاہتا ہے گمراہ ٹھہراتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے ہدایت فرماتا ہے، اور آپ کے رب کے لشکروں کو اس کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا، اور یہ (دوزخ کا بیان) اِنسان کی نصیحت کے لئے ہی ہےo

— English

And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity.

Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلٰىؕ‏ 

Ma waddaAAaka rabbuka wama qala

آپ کے رب نے (جب سے آپ کو منتخب فرمایا ہے) آپ کو نہیں چھوڑا اور نہ ہی (جب سے آپ کو محبوب بنایا ہے) ناراض ہوا ہےo

Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].

Allathee yuwaswisu fee sudoori annas
