Wa-ithi istasqa moosaliqawmihi faqulna idrib biAAasaka alhajarafanfajarat minhu ithnata AAashrata AAaynan qadAAalima kullu onasin mashrabahum kuloo washraboomin rizqi Allahi wala taAAthaw fee al-ardimufsideen

اور (وہ وقت بھی یا دکرو) جب موسیٰ (علیہ السلام) نے اپنی قوم کے لئے پانی مانگا تو ہم نے فرمایا: اپنا عصا اس پتھر پر مارو، پھر اس (پتھر) سے بارہ چشمے پھوٹ پڑے، واقعۃً ہر گروہ نے اپنا اپنا گھاٹ پہچان لیا، (ہم نے فرمایا:) اﷲ کے (عطا کردہ) رزق میں سے کھاؤ اور پیو لیکن زمین میں فساد انگیزی نہ کرتے پھرو

And [recall] when Moses prayed for water for his people, so We said, "Strike with your staff the stone." And there gushed forth from it twelve springs, and every people knew its watering place. "Eat and drink from the provision of Allah, and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption."

Ayawaddu ahadukum an takoona lahujannatun min nakheelin waaAAnabin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu lahu feeha min kulli aththamaratiwaasabahu alkibaru walahu thurriyyatun duAAafaofaasabaha iAAsarun feehi narun fahtaraqatkathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu al-ayatilaAAallakum tatafakkaroon

کیا تم میں سے کوئی شخص یہ پسند کرے گا کہ اس کے پاس کھجوروں اور انگوروں کا ایک باغ ہو جس کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہوں اس کے لئے اس میں (کھجوروں اور انگوروں کے علاوہ بھی) ہر قسم کے پھل ہوں اور (ایسے وقت میں) اسے بڑھاپا آپہنچے اور (ابھی) اس کی اولاد بھی ناتواں ہو اور (ایسے وقت میں) اس باغ پر ایک بگولا آجائے جس میں (نِری) آگ ہو اور وہ باغ جل جائے (تو اس کی محرومی اور پریشانی کا عالم کیا ہو گا)، اسی طرح اﷲ تمہارے لئے نشانیاں واضح طور پر بیان فرماتا ہے تاکہ تم غور کرو (سو کیا تم چاہتے ہو کہ آخرت میں تمہارے اعمال کا باغ بھی ریاکاری کی آگ میں جل کر بھسم ہو جائے اور تمہیں سنبھالا دینے والا بھی کوئی نہ ہو)

Would one of you like to have a garden of palm trees and grapevines underneath which rivers flow in which he has from every fruit? But he is afflicted with old age and has weak offspring, and it is hit by a whirlwind containing fire and is burned. Thus does Allah make clear to you [His] verses that you might give thought.

WaqattaAAnahumu ithnatayAAashrata asbatan omaman waawhayna ilamoosa ithi istasqahu qawmuhu ani idribbiAAasaka alhajara fanbajasat minhu ithnataAAashrata AAaynan qad AAalima kullu onasin mashrabahum wathallalnaAAalayhimu alghamama waanzalna AAalayhimu almannawassalwa kuloo min tayyibati marazaqnakum wama thalamoona walakinkanoo anfusahum yathlimoon

اور ہم نے انہیں گروہ در گروہ بارہ قبیلوں میں تقسیم کر دیا، اور ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کے پاس (یہ) وحی بھیجی جب اس سے اس کی قوم نے پانی مانگا کہ اپنا عصا پتھر پر مارو، سو اس میں سے بارہ چشمے پھوٹ نکلے، پس ہر قبیلہ نے اپنا گھاٹ معلوم کرلیا، اور ہم نے ان پر اَبر کا سائبان تان دیا، اور ہم نے ان پر منّ و سلوٰی اتارا، (اور ان سے فرمایا:) جن پاکیزہ چیزوں کا رزق ہم نے تمہیں عطا کیا ہے اس میں سے کھاؤ، (مگر نافرمانی اور کفرانِ نعمت کر کے) انہوں نے ہم پر ظلم نہیں کیا بلکہ وہ اپنی ہی جانوں پر ظلم کر رہے تھے

And We divided them into twelve descendant tribes [as distinct] nations. And We inspired to Moses when his people implored him for water, "Strike with your staff the stone," and there gushed forth from it twelve springs. Every people knew its watering place. And We shaded them with clouds and sent down upon them manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not, but they were [only] wronging themselves.

My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me - then he is of me; and whoever disobeys me - indeed, You are [yet] Forgiving and Merciful.

اور یہ کہ اپنی لاٹھی (زمین پر) ڈال دو، پھر جب موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے اسے دیکھا کہ وہ تیز لہراتی تڑپتی ہوئی حرکت کر رہی ہے گویا وہ سانپ ہو، تو پیٹھ پھیر کر چل پڑے اور پیچھے مڑ کر نہ دیکھا، (ندا آئی:) اے موسٰی! سامنے آؤ اور خوف نہ کرو، بیشک تم امان یافتہ لوگوں میں سے ہو

And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it was a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allah said], "O Moses, approach and fear not. Indeed, you are of the secure.
