وَاِذۡ قَالَ اِبۡرٰهٖمُ رَبِّ اجۡعَلۡ هٰذَا بَلَدًا اٰمِنًۡا وَّارۡزُقۡ اَهۡلَهٗ مِنَ الثَّمَرٰتِ مَنۡ اٰمَنَ مِنۡهُمۡ بِاللّٰهِ وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِؕ قَالَ وَمَنۡ كَفَرَ فَاُمَتِّعُهٗ قَلِيۡلًا ثُمَّ اَضۡطَرُّهٗۤ اِلٰى عَذَابِ النَّارِؕ وَبِئۡسَ الۡمَصِيۡرُ
— Transliteration
Wa-ith qala ibraheemurabbi ijAAal hatha baladan aminan warzuqahlahu mina aththamarati man amana minhumbillahi walyawmi al-akhiri qalawaman kafara faomattiAAuhu qaleelan thumma adtarruhu ilaAAathabi annari wabi/sa almaseer

اور جب ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) نے عرض کیا: اے میرے رب! اسے امن والا شہر بنا دے اور اس کے باشندوں کو طرح طرح کے پھلوں سے نواز (یعنی) ان لوگوں کو جو ان میں سے اللہ پر اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان لائے، (اللہ نے) فرمایا: اور جو کوئی کفر کرے گا اس کو بھی زندگی کی تھوڑی مدت (کے لئے) فائدہ پہنچاؤں گا پھر اسے (اس کے کفر کے باعث) دوزخ کے عذاب کی طرف (جانے پر) مجبور کر دوں گا اور وہ بہت بری جگہ ہے

And [mention] when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits - whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day." [Allah] said. "And whoever disbelieves - I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination."

(وہ) رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) اس پر ایمان لائے (یعنی اس کی تصدیق کی) جو کچھ ان پر ان کے رب کی طرف سے نازل کیا گیا اور اہلِ ایمان نے بھی، سب ہی (دل سے) اﷲ پر اور اس کے فرشتوں پر اور اس کی کتابوں پر اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لائے، (نیز کہتے ہیں:) ہم اس کے پیغمبروں میں سے کسی کے درمیان بھی (ایمان لانے میں) فرق نہیں کرتے، اور (اﷲ کے حضور) عرض کرتے ہیں: ہم نے (تیرا حکم) سنا اور اطاعت (قبول) کی، اے ہمارے رب! ہم تیری بخشش کے طلب گار ہیں اور (ہم سب کو) تیری ہی طرف لوٹنا ہے

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination."

La yattakhithi almu/minoonaalkafireena awliyaa min dooni almu/mineena wamanyafAAal thalika falaysa mina Allahi fee shay-in illaan tattaqoo minhum tuqatan wayuhaththirukumuAllahu nafsahu wa-ila Allahi almaseer

Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.

Wama kana linafsin an tamootailla bi-ithni Allahi kitabanmu-ajjalan waman yurid thawaba addunyanu/tihi minha waman yurid thawaba al-akhiratinu/tihi minha wasanajzee ashshakireen

And it is not [possible] for one to die except by permission of Allah at a decree determined. And whoever desires the reward of this world - We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter - We will give him thereof. And we will reward the grateful.

— Transliteration
Thumma anzala AAalaykum min baAAdi alghammiamanatan nuAAasan yaghsha ta-ifatan minkumwata-ifatun qad ahammat-hum anfusuhum yathunnoonabillahi ghayra alhaqqi thannaaljahiliyyati yaqooloona hal lana mina al-amri minshay-in qul inna al-amra kullahu lillahi yukhfoona feeanfusihim ma la yubdoona laka yaqooloona law kanalana mina al-amri shay-on ma qutilna hahunaqul law kuntum fee buyootikum labaraza allatheena kutibaAAalayhimu alqatlu ila madajiAAihim waliyabtaliyaAllahu ma fee sudoorikum waliyumahhisama fee quloobikum wallahu AAaleemun bithatiassudoor

پھر اس نے غم کے بعد تم پر (تسکین کے لئے) غنودگی کی صورت میں امان اتاری جو تم میں سے ایک جماعت پر چھا گئی اور ایک گروہ کو (جو منافقوں کا تھا) صرف اپنی جانوں کی فکر پڑی ہوئی تھی وہ اللہ کے ساتھ ناحق گمان کرتے تھے جو (محض) جاہلیت کے گمان تھے، وہ کہتے ہیں: کیا اس کام میں ہمارے لئے بھی کچھ (اختیار) ہے؟ فرما دیں کہ سب کام اللہ ہی کے ہاتھ میں ہے، وہ اپنے دلوں میں وہ باتیں چھپائے ہوئے ہیں جو آپ پر ظاہر نہیں ہونے دیتے۔ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر اس کام میں کچھ ہمارا اختیار ہوتا تو ہم اس جگہ قتل نہ کئے جاتے۔ فرما دیں: اگر تم اپنے گھروں میں (بھی) ہوتے تب بھی جن کا مارا جانا لکھا جا چکا تھا وہ ضرور اپنی قتل گاہوں کی طرف نکل کر آجاتے، اور یہ اس لئے (کیا گیا) ہے کہ جو کچھ تمہارے سینوں میں ہے اللہ اسے آزمائے اور جو (وسوسے) تمہارے دلوں میں ہیں انہیں خوب صاف کر دے، اور اللہ سینوں کی بات خوب جانتا ہے

Then after distress, He sent down upon you security [in the form of] drowsiness, overcoming a faction of you, while another faction worried about themselves, thinking of Allah other than the truth - the thought of ignorance, saying, "Is there anything for us [to have done] in this matter?" Say, "Indeed, the matter belongs completely to Allah." They conceal within themselves what they will not reveal to you. They say, "If there was anything we could have done in the matter, some of us would not have been killed right here." Say, "Even if you had been inside your houses, those decreed to be killed would have come out to their death beds." [It was] so that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purify what is in your hearts. And Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts.

Inna allatheena tawaffahumualmala-ikatu thalimee anfusihim qaloofeema kuntum qaloo kunna mustadAAafeena feeal-ardi qaloo alam takun ardu AllahiwasiAAatan fatuhajiroo feeha faola-ikama/wahum jahannamu wasaat maseera

بیشک جن لوگوں کی روح فرشتے اس حال میں قبض کرتے ہیں کہ وہ (اسلام دشمن ماحول میں رہ کر) اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرنے والے ہیں (تو) وہ ان سے دریافت کرتے ہیں کہ تم کس حال میں تھے (تم نے اِقامتِ دین کی جد و جہد کی نہ سرزمینِ کُفر کو چھوڑا)؟ وہ (معذرۃً) کہتے ہیں کہ ہم زمین میں کمزور و بے بس تھے، فرشتے (جواباً) کہتے ہیں: کیا اللہ کی زمین فراخ نہ تھی کہ تم اس میں (کہیں) ہجرت کر جاتے، سو یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کا ٹھکانا جہنم ہے، اور وہ بہت ہی برا ٹھکانا ہے

Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves - [the angels] will say, "In what [condition] were you?" They will say, "We were oppressed in the land." The angels will say, "Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein?" For those, their refuge is Hell - and evil it is as a destination.

Waqalati alyahoodu wannasaranahnu abnao Allahi waahibbaohuqul falima yuAAaththibukum bithunoobikum bal antumbasharun mimman khalaqa yaghfiru liman yashao wayuAAaththibuman yashao walillahi mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma wa-ilayhialmaseer

اور یہود اور نصارٰی نے کہا: ہم اﷲ کے بیٹے اور اس کے محبوب ہیں۔ آپ فرما دیجئے: (اگر تمہاری بات درست ہے) تو وہ تمہارے گناہوں پر تمہیں عذاب کیوں دیتا ہے؟ بلکہ (حقیقت یہ ہے کہ) جن (مخلوقات) کو اﷲ نے پیدا کیا ہے تم (بھی) ان (ہی) میں سے بشر ہو (یعنی دیگر طبقاتِ انسانی ہی کی مانند ہو)، وہ جسے چاہے بخشش سے نوازتا ہے اور جسے چاہے عذاب سے دوچار کرتا ہے، اور آسمانوں اور زمین اور وہ (کائنات) جو دونوں کے درمیان ہے (سب) کی بادشاہی اﷲ ہی کے لئے ہے اور (ہر ایک کو) اسی کی طرف پلٹ کر جانا ہے

But the Jews and the Christians say, "We are the children of Allah and His beloved." Say, "Then why does He punish you for your sins?" Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the [final] destination.

(اﷲ) وہی ہے جس نے تمہیں مٹی کے گارے سے پیدا فرمایا (یعنی کرّۂ اَرضی پر حیاتِ انسانی کی کیمیائی ابتداء اس سے کی)۔ پھر اس نے (تمہاری موت کی) میعاد مقرر فرما دی، اور (انعقادِ قیامت کا) معیّنہ وقت اسی کے پاس (مقرر) ہے پھر (بھی) تم شک کرتے ہو

It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute.

اور اگر آپ پر ان کی رُوگردانی شاق گزر رہی ہے (اور آپ بہر صورت ان کے ایمان لانے کے خواہش مند ہیں) تو اگر آپ سے (یہ) ہو سکے کہ زمین میں (اترنے والی) کوئی سرنگ یا آسمان میں (چڑھنے والی) کوئی سیڑھی تلاش کرلیں پھر (انہیں دکھانے کے لیے) ان کے پاس کوئی (خاص) نشانی لے آئیں (وہ تب بھی ایمان نہیں لائیں گے)، اور اگر اﷲ چاہتا تو ان کو ہدایت پر ضرور جمع فرما دیتا پس آپ (اپنی رحمت و شفقت کے بے پایاں جوش کے باعث ان کی بدبختی سے) بے خبر نہ ہوجائیں

And if their evasion is difficult for you, then if you are able to seek a tunnel into the earth or a stairway into the sky to bring them a sign, [then do so]. But if Allah had willed, He would have united them upon guidance. So never be of the ignorant.

And whoever turns his back to them on such a day, unless swerving [as a strategy] for war or joining [another] company, has certainly returned with anger [upon him] from Allah, and his refuge is Hell - and wretched is the destination.

Lahu muAAaqqibatun min bayni yadayhiwamin khalfihi yahfathoonahu min amri Allahiinna Allaha la yughayyiru ma biqawmin hattayughayyiroo ma bi-anfusihim wa-itha aradaAllahu biqawmin soo-an fala maradda lahu wamalahum min doonihi min wal

(ہر) انسان کے لئے یکے بعد دیگرے آنے والے (فرشتے) ہیں جو اس کے آگے اور اس کے پیچھے اﷲ کے حکم سے اس کی نگہبانی کرتے ہیں۔ بیشک اﷲ کسی قوم کی حالت کو نہیں بدلتا یہاں تک کہ وہ لوگ اپنے آپ میں خود تبدیلی پیدا کر ڈالیں، اور جب اﷲ کسی قوم کے ساتھ (اس کی اپنی بداعمالیوں کی وجہ سے) عذاب کا ارادہ فرما لیتا ہے تو اسے کوئی ٹال نہیں سکتا، اور نہ ہی ان کے لئے اﷲ کے مقابلہ میں کوئی مددگار ہوتا ہے

For each one are successive [angels] before and behind him who protect him by the decree of Allah. Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron.

Walaw anna qur-anan suyyirat bihialjibalu aw quttiAAat bihi al-ardu awkullima bihi almawta bal lillahi al-amru jameeAAanafalam yay-asi allatheena amanoo an law yashaoAllahu lahada annasa jameeAAan walayazalu allatheena kafaroo tuseebuhum bimasanaAAoo qariAAatun aw tahullu qareeban mindarihim hatta ya/tiya waAAdu Allahiinna Allaha la yukhlifu almeeAAad

اور اگر کوئی ایسا قرآن ہوتا جس کے ذریعے پہاڑ چلا دیئے جاتے یا اس سے زمین پھاڑ دی جاتی یا اس کے ذریعے مُردوں سے بات کرا دی جاتی (تب بھی وہ ایمان نہ لاتے)، بلکہ سب کام اﷲ ہی کے اختیار میں ہیں، تو کیا ایمان والوں کو (یہ) معلوم نہیں کہ اگر اﷲ چاہتا تو سب لوگوں کو ہدایت فرما دیتا، اور ہمیشہ کافر لوگوں کو ان کے کرتوتوں کے باعث کوئی (نہ کوئی) مصیبت پہنچتی رہے گی یا ان کے گھروں (یعنی بستیوں) کے آس پاس اترتی رہے گی یہاں تک کہ اﷲ کا وعدۂ (عذاب) آپہنچے، بیشک اﷲ وعدہ خلافی نہیں کرتا

And if there was any qur'an by which the mountains would be removed or the earth would be broken apart or the dead would be made to speak, [it would be this Qur'an], but to Allah belongs the affair entirely. Then have those who believed not accepted that had Allah willed, He would have guided the people, all of them? And those who disbelieve do not cease to be struck, for what they have done, by calamity - or it will descend near their home - until there comes the promise of Allah. Indeed, Allah does not fail in [His] promise.

Ith tamshee okhtuka fataqoolu haladullukum AAala man yakfuluhu farajaAAnaka ilaommika kay taqarra AAaynuha wala tahzanawaqatalta nafsan fanajjaynaka mina alghammi wafatannakafutoonan falabithta sineena fee ahli madyana thumma ji/ta AAalaqadarin ya moosa

اور جب تمہاری بہن (اجنبی بن کر) چلتے چلتے (فرعون کے گھر والوں سے) کہنے لگی: کیا میں تمہیں کسی (ایسی عورت) کی نشاندہی کر دوں جو اس (بچہ) کی پرورش کر دے، پھر ہم نے تم کو تمہاری والدہ کی طرف (پرورش کے بہانے) واپس لوٹا دیا تاکہ اس کی آنکھ بھی ٹھنڈی ہوتی رہے اور وہ رنجیدہ بھی نہ ہو، اور تم نے (قومِ فرعون کے) ایک (کافر) شخص کو مار ڈالا تھا پھر ہم نے تمہیں (اس) غم سے (بھی) نجات بخشی اور ہم نے تمہیں بہت سی آزمائشوں سے گزار کر خوب جانچا، پھر تم کئی سال اہلِ مدین میں ٹھہرے رہے پھر تم (اللہ کے) مقرر کردہ وقت پر (یہاں) آگئے اے موسٰی! (اس وقت ان کی عمر ٹھیک چالیس برس ہوگئی تھی)

[And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses.

Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunabayyinatin taAArifu fee wujoohi allatheena kafarooalmunkara yakadoona yastoona billatheenayatloona AAalayhim ayatina qulafaonabbi-okum bisharrin min thalikum annaruwaAAadaha Allahu allatheena kafaroo wabi/saalmaseer

اور جب ان (کافروں) پر ہماری روشن آیتیں تلاوت کی جاتی ہیں (تو) آپ ان کافروں کے چہروں میں ناپسندیدگی (و ناگواری کے آثار) صاف دیکھ سکتے ہیں۔ ایسے لگتا ہے کہ عنقریب ان لوگوں پر جھپٹ پڑیں گے جو انہیں ہماری آیات پڑھ کر سنا رہے ہیں، آپ فرما دیجئے: (اے مضطرب ہونے والے کافرو!) کیا میں تمہیں اس سے (بھی) زیادہ تکلیف دہ چیز سے آگاہ کروں؟ (وہ دوزخ کی) آگ ہے، جس کا اﷲ نے کافروں سے وعدہ کر رکھا ہے، اور وہ بہت ہی برا ٹھکانا ہے

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, you recognize in the faces of those who disbelieve disapproval. They are almost on the verge of assaulting those who recite to them Our verses. Say, "Then shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that? [It is] the Fire which Allah has promised those who disbelieve, and wretched is the destination."

Alam tara anna Allaha yuzjee sahabanthumma yu-allifu baynahu thumma yajAAaluhu rukaman fataraalwadqa yakhruju min khilalihi wayunazzilu mina assama-imin jibalin feeha min baradin fayuseebu bihiman yashao wayasrifuhu AAan man yashao yakadusana barqihi yathhabu bil-absar

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ ہی بادل کو (پہلے) آہستہ آہستہ چلاتا ہے پھر اس (کے مختلف ٹکڑوں) کو آپس میں ملا دیتا ہے پھر اسے تہ بہ تہ بنا دیتا ہے پھر تم دیکھتے ہو کہ اس کے درمیان خالی جگہوں سے بارش نکل کر برستی ہے، اور وہ اسی آسمان (یعنی فضا) میں برفانی پہاڑوں کی طرح (دکھائی دینے والے) بادلوں میں سے اولے برساتا ہے، پھر جس پر چاہتا ہے ان اولوں کو گراتا ہے اور جس سے چاہتا ہے ان کو پھیر دیتا ہے (مزید یہ کہ انہی بادلوں سے بجلی بھی پیدا کرتا ہے)، یوں لگتا ہے کہ اس (بادل) کی بجلی کی چمک آنکھوں (کو خیرہ کر کے ان) کی بینائی اچک لے جائے گی

Do you not see that Allah drives clouds? Then He brings them together, then He makes them into a mass, and you see the rain emerge from within it. And He sends down from the sky, mountains [of clouds] within which is hail, and He strikes with it whom He wills and averts it from whom He wills. The flash of its lightening almost takes away the eyesight.

Wawassayna al-insanabiwalidayhi hamalat-hu ommuhu wahnan AAalawahnin wafisaluhu fee AAamayni ani oshkur lee waliwalidaykailayya almaseer

اور ہم نے انسان کو اس کے والدین کے بارے میں (نیکی کا) تاکیدی حکم فرمایا، جسے اس کی ماں تکلیف پر تکلیف کی حالت میں (اپنے پیٹ میں) برداشت کرتی رہی اور جس کا دودھ چھوٹنا بھی دو سال میں ہے (اسے یہ حکم دیا) کہ تو میرا (بھی) شکر ادا کر اور اپنے والدین کا بھی۔ (تجھے) میری ہی طرف لوٹ کر آنا ہے

And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.

— Transliteration
Inna Allaha AAindahu AAilmu assaAAatiwayunazzilu alghaytha wayaAAlamu ma fee al-arhamiwama tadree nafsun matha taksibu ghadan wamatadree nafsun bi-ayyi ardin tamootu inna AllahaAAaleemun khabeer

بیشک اﷲ ہی کے پاس قیامت کا علم ہے، اور وہی بارش اتارتا ہے، اور جو کچھ رحموں میں ہے وہ جانتا ہے، اور کوئی شخص یہ نہیں جانتا کہ وہ کل کیا (عمل) کمائے گا، اور نہ کوئی شخص یہ جانتا ہے کہ وہ کِس سرزمین پر مرے گا، بیشک اﷲ خوب جاننے والا ہے، خبر رکھنے والا ہے (یعنی علیم بالذّات ہے اور خبیر للغیر ہے، اَز خود ہر شے کا علم رکھتا ہے اور جسے پسند فرمائے باخبر بھی کر دیتا ہے)

Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

Yudabbiru al-amra mina assama-iila al-ardi thumma yaAAruju ilayhi fee yawmin kanamiqdaruhu alfa sanatin mimma taAAuddoon

He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count.

Ma kana AAala annabiyyimin harajin feema farada Allahu lahusunnata Allahi fee allatheena khalaw min qablu wakanaamru Allahi qadaran maqdoora

There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which Allah has imposed upon him. [This is] the established way of Allah with those [prophets] who have passed on before. And ever is the command of Allah a destiny decreed.

Waqala allatheena kafaroo lata/teena assaAAatu qul bala warabbeelata/tiyannakum AAalimi alghaybi la yaAAzubu AAanhumithqalu tharratin fee assamawatiwala fee al-ardi wala asgharu min thalikawala akbaru illa fee kitabin mubeen

اور کافر لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم پر قیامت نہیں آئے گی، آپ فرما دیں: کیوں نہیں؟ میرے عالم الغیب رب کی قسم! وہ تم پر ضرور آئے گی، اس سے نہ آسمانوں میں ذرّہ بھر کوئی چیز غائب ہو سکتی ہے اور نہ زمین میں اور نہ اس سے کوئی چھوٹی (چیز ہے) اور نہ بڑی مگر روشن کتاب (یعنی لوحِ محفوظ) میں (لکھی ہوئی) ہے

But those who disbelieve say, "The Hour will not come to us." Say, "Yes, by my Lord, it will surely come to you. [Allah is] the Knower of the unseen." Not absent from Him is an atom's weight within the heavens or within the earth or [what is] smaller than that or greater, except that it is in a clear register -

— Transliteration
Wallahu khalaqakum min turabinthumma min nutfatin thumma jaAAalakum azwajan wamatahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAu illabiAAilmihi wama yuAAammaru min muAAammarin walayunqasu min AAumurihi illa fee kitabin inna thalikaAAala Allahi yaseer

اور اﷲ ہی نے تمہیں مٹی (یعنی غیر نامی مادّہ) سے پیدا فرمایا پھر ایک تولیدی قطرہ سے، پھر تمہیں جوڑے جوڑے بنایا، اور کوئی مادّہ حاملہ نہیں ہوتی اور نہ بچہ جنتی ہے مگر اس کے علم سے، اور نہ کسی دراز عمر شخص کی عمر بڑھائی جاتی ہے اور نہ اس کی عمر کم کی جاتی ہے مگر (یہ سب کچھ) لوحِ (محفوظ) میں ہے، بیشک یہ اﷲ پر بہت آسان ہے

And Allah created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allah is easy.

وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرَىٰؕ وَاِنۡ تَدۡعُ مُثۡقَلَةٌ اِلٰى حِمۡلِهَا لَا يُحۡمَلۡ مِنۡهُ شَىۡءٌ وَّلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبٰى ؕ اِنَّمَا تُنۡذِرُ الَّذِيۡنَ يَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ بِالۡغَيۡبِ وَاَقَامُوۡا الصَّلٰوةَ ؕ وَمَنۡ تَزَكّٰى فَاِنَّمَا يَتَزَكّٰى لِنَفۡسِه ؕ وَاِلَى اللّٰهِ الۡمَصِيۡرُ
— Transliteration
Wala taziru waziratun wizraokhra wa-in tadAAu muthqalatun ila himlihala yuhmal minhu shay-on walaw kana thaqurba innama tunthiru allatheenayakhshawna rabbahum bilghaybi waaqamoo assalatawaman tazakka fa-innama yatazakka linafsihiwa-ila Allahi almaseer

اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا دوسرے کا بارِ (گناہ) نہ اٹھا سکے گا، اور کوئی بوجھ میں دبا ہوا (دوسرے کو) اپنا بوجھ بٹانے کے لئے بلائے گا تو اس سے کچھ بھی بوجھ نہ اٹھایا جا سکے گا خواہ قریبی رشتہ دار ہی ہو، (اے حبیب!) آپ ان ہی لوگوں کو ڈر سناتے ہیں جو اپنے رب سے بن دیکھے ڈرتے ہیں اور نماز قائم کرتے ہیں، اور جو کوئی پاکیزگی حاصل کرتا ہے وہ اپنے ہی فائدہ کے لئے پاک ہوتا ہے، اور اﷲ ہی کی طرف پلٹ کر جانا ہے

And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allah is the [final] destination.

— Transliteration
Walaw yu-akhithu Allahuannasa bima kasaboo ma taraka AAalathahriha min dabbatin walakinyu-akhkhiruhum ila ajalin musamman fa-itha jaaajaluhum fa-inna Allaha kana biAAibadihi baseera

اور اگر اﷲ لوگوں کو اُن اعمالِ (بد) کے بدلے جو انہوں نے کما رکھے ہیں (عذاب کی) گرفت میں لینے لگے تو وہ اس زمین کی پشت پر کسی چلنے والے کو نہ چھوڑے لیکن وہ انہیں مقررہ مدّت تک مہلت دے رہا ہے۔ پھر جب ان کا مقررہ وقت آجائے گا تو بیشک اﷲ اپنے بندوں کو خوب دیکھنے والا ہے

And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for what they have earned, He would not leave upon the earth any creature. But He defers them for a specified term. And when their time comes, then indeed Allah has ever been, of His servants, Seeing.

Ghafiri aththanbi waqabiliattawbi shadeedi alAAiqabi thee attawlila ilaha illa huwa ilayhi almaseer

گناہ بخشنے والا (ہے) اور توبہ قبول فرمانے والا (ہے)، سخت عذاب دینے والا (ہے)، بڑا صاحبِ کرم ہے۔ اُس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، اسی کی طرف (سب کو) لوٹنا ہے

The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination.

Walaqad atayna moosaalkitaba fakhtulifa feehi walawla kalimatunsabaqat min rabbika laqudiya baynahum wa-innahum lafeeshakkin minhu mureeb

اور بے شک ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کو کتاب عطا فرمائی تو اس میں (بھی) اختلاف کیا گیا، اور اگر آپ کے رب کی طرف سے فرمان پہلے صادر نہ ہو چکا ہوتا تو اُن کے درمیان فیصلہ کر دیا جاتا اور بے شک وہ اس (قرآن) کے بارے میں (بھی) دھوکہ دینے والے شک میں (مبتلاء) ہیں

And We had already given Moses the Scripture, but it came under disagreement. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed they are, concerning the Qur'an, in disquieting doubt.

Ilayhi yuraddu AAilmu assaAAatiwama takhruju min thamaratin min akmamihawama tahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAuilla biAAilmihi wayawma yunadeehim ayna shuraka-eeqaloo athannaka ma minna minshaheed

اسی (اللہ) کی طرف ہی وقتِ قیامت کے علم کا حوالہ دیا جاتا ہے، اور نہ پھل اپنے غلافوں سے نکلتے ہیں اور نہ کوئی مادہ حاملہ ہوتی ہے اور نہ وہ بچہ جنتی ہے مگر (یہ سب کچھ) اُس کے علم میں ہوتا ہے۔ اور جس دن وہ انہیں ندا فرمائے گا کہ میرے شریک کہاں ہیں، (تو) وہ (مشرک) کہیں گے: ہم آپ سے عرض کئے دیتے ہیں کہ ہم میں سے کوئی بھی (کسی کے آپ کے ساتھ شریک ہونے پر) گواہ نہیں ہے

To him [alone] is attributed knowledge of the Hour. And fruits emerge not from their coverings nor does a female conceive or give birth except with His knowledge. And the Day He will call to them, "Where are My 'partners'?" they will say, "We announce to You that there is [no longer] among us any witness [to that]."

— Transliteration
Wama tafarraqoo illa minbaAAdi ma jaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum walawlakalimatun sabaqat min rabbika ila ajalin musamman laqudiyabaynahum wa-inna allatheena oorithoo alkitaba minbaAAdihim lafee shakkin minhu mureeb

اور انہوں نے فرقہ بندی نہیں کی تھی مگر اِس کے بعد جبکہ اُن کے پاس علم آچکا تھا محض آپس کی ضِد (اور ہٹ دھرمی) کی وجہ سے، اور اگر آپ کے رب کی جانب سے مقررہ مدّت تک (کی مہلت) کا فرمان پہلے صادر نہ ہوا ہوتا تو اُن کے درمیان فیصلہ کیا جا چکا ہوتا، اور بیشک جو لوگ اُن کے بعد کتاب کے وارث بنائے گئے تھے وہ خود اُس کی نسبت فریب دینے والے شک میں (مبتلا) ہیں

And they did not become divided until after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, those who were granted inheritance of the Scripture after them are, concerning it, in disquieting doubt.

فَلِذٰلِكَ فَادۡعُ ۚ وَاسۡتَقِمۡ كَمَاۤ اُمِرۡتَۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعۡ اَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ وَقُلۡ اٰمَنۡتُ بِمَاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنۡ كِتٰبٍۚ وَّاُمِرۡتُ لِاَعۡدِلَ بَيۡنَكُمُؕ اللّٰهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمۡؕ لَـنَاۤ اَعۡمَالُـنَا وَلَـكُمۡ اَعۡمَالُكُمۡۚ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُؕ اللّٰهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَاۚ وَاِلَيۡهِ الۡمَصِيۡرُؕ
— Transliteration
Falithalika fadAAu wastaqimkama omirta wala tattabiAA ahwaahum waqul amantubima anzala Allahu min kitabin waomirtuli-aAAdila baynakum Allahu rabbuna warabbukum lanaaAAmaluna walakum aAAmalukum la hujjatabaynana wabaynakumu Allahu yajmaAAu baynanawa-ilayhi almaseer

پس آپ اسی (دین) کے لئے دعوت دیتے رہیں اور جیسے آپ کو حکم دیا گیا ہے (اسی پر) قائم رہئے اور اُن کی خواہشات پر کان نہ دھریئے، اور (یہ) فرما دیجئے: جو کتاب بھی اللہ نے اتاری ہے میں اُس پر ایمان رکھتا ہوں، اور مجھے حکم دیا گیا ہے کہ میں تمہارے درمیان عدل و انصاف کروں۔ اللہ ہمارا (بھی) رب ہے اور تمہارا (بھی) رب ہے، ہمارے لئے ہمارے اعمال ہیں اور تمہارے لئے تمہارے اعمال، ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان کوئی بحث و تکرار نہیں، اللہ ہم سب کو جمع فرمائے گا اور اسی کی طرف (سب کا) پلٹنا ہے

So to that [religion of Allah] invite, [O Muhammad], and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allah has revealed of the Qur'an, and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds. There is no [need for] argument between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination."

فَاعۡلَمۡ اَنَّهٗ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَاسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۡۢبِكَ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ يَعۡلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمۡ وَمَثۡوٰٮكُمۡ
— Transliteration
FaAAlam annahu la ilahailla Allahu wastaghfir lithanbikawalilmu/mineena walmu/minati wallahuyaAAlamu mutaqallabakum wamathwakum

پس جان لیجئے کہ اﷲ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور آپ (اظہارِ عبودیت اور تعلیمِ امت کی خاطر اﷲ سے) معافی مانگتے رہا کریں کہ کہیں آپ سے خلافِ اولیٰ (یعنی آپ کے مرتبہ عالیہ سے کم درجہ کا) فعل صادر نہ ہو جائے٭ اور مومن مردوں اور مومن عورتوں کے لئے بھی طلبِ مغفرت (یعنی ان کی شفاعت) فرماتے رہا کریں (یہی ان کا سامانِ بخشش ہے)، اور (اے لوگو!) اﷲ (دنیا میں) تمہارے چلنے پھرنے کے ٹھکانے اور (آخرت میں) تمہارے ٹھہرنے کی منزلیں (سب) جانتا ہےo

So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows of your movement and your resting place.

WayuAAaththiba almunafiqeena walmunafiqatiwalmushrikeena walmushrikati aththanneenabillahi thanna assaw-iAAalayhim da-iratu assaw-i waghadiba AllahuAAalayhim walaAAanahum waaAAadda lahum jahannama wasaat maseera

And [that] He may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women, and the polytheist men and polytheist women - those who assume about Allah an assumption of evil nature. Upon them is a misfortune of evil nature; and Allah has become angry with them and has cursed them and prepared for them Hell, and evil it is as a destination.

So today no ransom will be taken from you or from those who disbelieved. Your refuge is the Fire. It is most worthy of you, and wretched is the destination.

Alam tara ila allatheena nuhooAAani annajwa thumma yaAAoodoona lima nuhooAAanhu wayatanajawna bil-ithmi walAAudwaniwamaAAsiyati arrasooli wa-itha jaookahayyawka bima lam yuhayyika bihi Allahuwayaqooloona fee anfusihim lawla yuAAaththibunaAllahu bima naqoolu hasbuhum jahannamu yaslawnahafabi/sa almaseer

کیا آپ نے اُن لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جنہیں سرگوشیوں سے منع کیا گیا تھا پھر وہ لوگ وہی کام کرنے لگے جس سے روکے گئے تھے اور وہ گناہ اور سرکشی اور نافرمانئ رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے متعلق سرگوشیاں کرتے ہیں اور جب آپ کے پاس حاضر ہوتے ہیں تو آپ کو اُن (نازیبا) کلمات کے ساتھ سلام کرتے ہیں جن سے اللہ نے آپ کو سلام نہیں فرمایا اور اپنے دلوں میں کہتے ہیں کہ (اگر یہ رسول سچے ہیں تو) اللہ ہمیں اِن (باتوں) پر عذاب کیوں نہیں دیتا جو ہم کہتے ہیں؟ انہیں دوزخ (کا عذاب) ہی کافی ہے، وہ اسی میں داخل ہوں گے، اور وہ بہت ہی برا ٹھکانا ہےo

Have you not considered those who were forbidden from private conversation, then they return to that which they were forbidden and converse among themselves about sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you, they greet you with that [word] by which Allah does not greet you and say among themselves, "Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?" Sufficient for them is Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the destination.

— Transliteration
Qad kanat lakum oswatun hasanatunfee ibraheema wallatheena maAAahu ithqaloo liqawmihim inna buraao minkum wamimmataAAbudoona min dooni Allahi kafarna bikum wabadabaynana wabaynakumu alAAadawatu walbaghdaoabadan hatta tu/minoo billahi wahdahuilla qawla ibraheema li-abeehi laastaghfiranna lakawama amliku laka mina Allahi min shay-in rabbanaAAalayka tawakkalna wa-ilayka anabna wa-ilayka almaseer

بیشک تمہارے لئے ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) میں اور اُن کے ساتھیوں میں بہترین نمونۂ (اقتداء) ہے، جب انہوں نے اپنی قوم سے کہا: ہم تم سے اور اُن بتوں سے جن کی تم اللہ کے سوا پوجا کرتے ہو کلیتہً بیزار (اور لاتعلق) ہیں، ہم نے تم سب کا کھلا انکار کیا ہمارے اور تمہارے درمیان دشمنی اور نفرت و عناد ہمیشہ کے لئے ظاہر ہوچکا، یہاں تک کہ تم ایک اللہ پر ایمان لے آؤ، مگر ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کا اپنے (پرورش کرنے والے) باپ سے یہ کہنا کہ میں تمہارے لئے ضرور بخشش طلب کروں گا، (فقط پہلے کا کیا ہوا ایک وعدہ تھا جو انہوں نے پورا کر دیا اور ساتھ یوں جتا بھی دیا) اور یہ کہ میں تمہارے لئے (تمہارے کفر و شرک کے باعث) اللہ کے حضور کسی چیز کا مالک نہیں ہوں۔ (پھر وہ یہ دعا کر کے قوم سے الگ ہوگئے:) اے ہمارے رب! ہم نے تجھ پر ہی بھروسہ کیا اور ہم نے تیری طرف ہی رجوع کیا اور (سب کو) تیری ہی طرف لوٹنا ہےo

There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone" except for the saying of Abraham to his father, "I will surely ask forgiveness for you, but I have not [power to do] for you anything against Allah. Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination.

Khalaqa assamawati wal-ardabilhaqqi wasawwarakum faahsana suwarakumwa-ilayhi almaseer

— Transliteration
Wallatheena kafaroo wakaththaboobi-ayatina ola-ika as-habuannari khalideena feeha wabi/sa almaseer

فَاِذَا بَلَغۡنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَاَمۡسِكُوۡهُنَّ بِمَعۡرُوۡفٍ اَوۡ فَارِقُوۡهُنَّ بِمَعۡرُوۡفٍ وَّاَشۡهِدُوۡا ذَوَىۡ عَدۡلٍ مِّنۡكُمۡ وَاَقِيۡمُوا الشَّهَادَةَ لِلّٰهِؕ ذٰلِكُمۡ يُوۡعَظُ بِهٖ مَنۡ كَانَ يُؤۡمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ ؕ وَمَنۡ يَّتَّقِ اللّٰهَ يَجۡعَل لَّهٗ مَخۡرَجًاۙ
— Transliteration
Fa-itha balaghna ajalahunnafaamsikoohunna bimaAAroofin aw fariqoohunna bimaAAroofinwaashhidoo thaway AAadlin minkum waaqeemoo ashshahadatalillahi thalikum yooAAathu bihi man kanayu/minu billahi walyawmi al-akhiriwaman yattaqi Allaha yajAAal lahu makhraja

پھر جب وہ اپنی مقررہ میعاد (کے ختم ہونے) کے قریب پہنچ جائیں تو انہیں بھلائی کے ساتھ (اپنی زوجیت میں) روک لو یا انہیں بھلائی کے ساتھ جدا کردو۔ اور اپنوں میں سے دو عادل مَردوں کو گواہ بنا لو اور گواہی اللہ کے لئے قائم کیا کرو، اِن (باتوں) سے اسی شخص کو نصیحت کی جاتی ہے جو اللہ اور یومِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتا ہے، اور جو اللہ سے ڈرتا ہے وہ اس کے لئے (دنیا و آخرت کے رنج و غم سے) نکلنے کی راہ پیدا فرما دیتا ہےo

And when they have [nearly] fulfilled their term, either retain them according to acceptable terms or part with them according to acceptable terms. And bring to witness two just men from among you and establish the testimony for [the acceptance of] Allah. That is instructed to whoever should believe in Allah and the Last day. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out

وَّيَرۡزُقۡهُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَحۡتَسِبُؕ وَمَنۡ يَّتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى اللّٰهِ فَهُوَ حَسۡبُهٗؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بَالِغُ اَمۡرِهٖؕ قَدۡ جَعَلَ اللّٰهُ لِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدۡرًا
— Transliteration
Wayarzuqhu min haythu la yahtasibuwaman yatawakkal AAala Allahi fahuwa hasbuhuinna Allaha balighu amrihi qad jaAAala Allahulikulli shay-in qadra

And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ جَاهِدِ الۡكُفَّارَ وَالۡمُنٰفِقِيۡنَ وَاغۡلُظۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡؕ وَمَاۡوٰٮهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُؕ وَبِئۡسَ الۡمَصِيۡرُ
— Transliteration
Ya ayyuha annabiyyu jahidialkuffara walmunafiqeena waghluthAAalayhim wama/wahum jahannamu wabi/sa almaseer

O Prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.

يَغۡفِرۡ لَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ ذُنُوۡبِكُمۡ وَيُؤَخِّرۡكُمۡ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّىؕ اِنَّ اَجَلَ اللّٰهِ اِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۘ لَوۡ كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Yaghfir lakum min thunoobikumwayu-akhkhirkum ila ajalin musamman inna ajala Allahiitha jaa la yu-akhkharu law kuntumtaAAlamoon

وہ تمہارے گناہ بخش دے گا اور تمہیں مقررہ مدت تک مہلت عطا کرے گا، بے شک اﷲ کی (مقرر کردہ) مدت جب آجائے تو مہلت نہیں دی جاتی، کاش! تم جانتے ہوتےo
— English
Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' "

Qul in adree aqareebun ma tooAAadoonaam yajAAalu lahu rabbee amada

آپ فرما دیں: میں نہیں جانتا کہ جس (روزِ قیامت) کا تم سے وعدہ کیا جا رہا ہے وہ قریب ہے یا اس کے لئے میرے رب نے طویل مدت مقرر فرما دی ہےo

Say, "I do not know if what you are promised is near or if my Lord will grant for it a [long] period."

لِّيَـعۡلَمَ اَنۡ قَدۡ اَبۡلَغُوۡا رِسٰلٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ وَاَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ وَاَحۡصٰى كُلَّ شَىۡءٍ عَدَدًا
— Transliteration
LiyaAAlama an qad ablaghoo risalatirabbihim waahata bima ladayhim waahsa kullashay-in AAadada

تاکہ اللہ (اس بات کو) ظاہر فرما دے کہ بے شک ان (رسولوں) نے اپنے رب کے پیغامات پہنچا دئیے، اور (اَحکاماتِ اِلٰہیہ اور علومِ غیبیہ میں سے) جو کچھ ان کے پاس ہے اللہ نے (پہلے ہی سے) اُس کا اِحاطہ فرما رکھا ہے، اور اُس نے ہر چیز کی گنتی شمار کر رکھی ہےo

That he may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed whatever is with them and has enumerated all things in number.
