— Transliteration
Wa-ith qultum ya moosalan nu/mina laka hatta nara Allahajahratan faakhathatkumu assaAAiqatu waantumtanthuroon

And [recall] when you said, "O Moses, we will never believe you until we see Allah outright"; so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on.

Duribat AAalayhimu aththillatuayna ma thuqifoo illa bihablin mina Allahiwahablin mina annasi wabaoo bighadabinmina Allahi waduribat AAalayhimu almaskanatu thalikabi-annahum kanoo yakfuroona bi-ayati Allahiwayaqtuloona al-anbiyaa bighayri haqqin thalikabima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoon

وہ جہاں کہیں بھی پائے جائیں ان پر ذلّت مسلط کر دی گئی ہے سوائے اس کے کہ انہیں کہیں اللہ کے عہد سے یا لوگوں کے عہد سے (پناہ دے دی جائے) اور وہ اللہ کے غضب کے سزاوار ہوئے ہیں اور ان پر محتاجی مسلط کی گئی ہے، یہ اس لئے کہ وہ اللہ کی آیتوں کا انکار کرتے تھے اور انبیاء کو ناحق قتل کرتے تھے، کیونکہ وہ نافرمان ہو گئے تھے اور (سرکشی میں) حد سے بڑھ گئے تھےo

They have been put under humiliation [by Allah] wherever they are overtaken, except for a covenant from Allah and a rope from the Muslims. And they have drawn upon themselves anger from Allah and have been put under destitution. That is because they disbelieved in the verses of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That is because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed.

Why [is it that] when a [single] disaster struck you [on the day of Uhud], although you had struck [the enemy in the battle of Badr] with one twice as great, you said, "From where is this?" Say, "It is from yourselves." Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

So how [will it be] when disaster strikes them because of what their hands have put forth and then they come to you swearing by Allah, "We intended nothing but good conduct and accommodation."

And indeed, there is among you he who lingers behind; and if disaster strikes you, he says, "Allah has favored me in that I was not present with them."

Yas-aluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzilaAAalayhim kitaban mina assama-i faqadsaaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arinaAllaha jahratan faakhathat-humu assaAAiqatubithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla minbaAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatu faAAafawnaAAan thalika waatayna moosa sultananmubeena

(اے حبیب!) آپ سے اہلِ کتاب سوال کرتے ہیں کہ آپ ان پر آسمان سے (ایک ہی دفعہ پوری لکھی ہوئی) کوئی کتاب اتار لائیں، تو وہ موسٰی (علیہ السلام) سے اس سے بھی بڑا سوال کر چکے ہیں، انہوں نے کہا تھا کہ ہمیں اﷲ (کی ذات) کھلم کھلا دکھا دو، پس ان کے (اس) ظلم (یعنی گستاخانہ سوال) کی وجہ سے انہیں آسمانی بجلی نے آپکڑا (جس کے باعث وہ مرگئے، پھر موسٰی علیہ السلام کی دعا سے زندہ ہوئے)، پھر انہوں نے بچھڑے کو (اپنا معبود) بنا لیا اس کے بعد کہ ان کے پاس (حق کی نشاندہی کرنے والی) واضح نشانیاں آچکی تھیں، پھر ہم نے اس (جرم) سے بھی درگزر کیا اور ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کو (ان پر) واضح غلبہ عطا فرمایاo

The People of the Scripture ask you to bring down to them a book from the heaven. But they had asked of Moses [even] greater than that and said, "Show us Allah outright," so the thunderbolt struck them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf [for worship] after clear evidences had come to them, and We pardoned that. And We gave Moses a clear authority.

— Transliteration
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooshahadatu baynikum itha hadara ahadakumualmawtu heena alwasiyyati ithnani thawaAAadlin minkum aw akharani min ghayrikum in antum darabtumfee al-ardi faasabatkum museebatu almawti tahbisoonahumamin baAAdi assalati fayuqsimani billahiini irtabtum la nashtaree bihi thamanan walaw kana thaqurba wala naktumu shahadata Allahiinna ithan lamina al-athimeen

اے ایمان والو! جب تم میں سے کسی کی موت آئے تو وصیت کرتے وقت تمہارے درمیان گواہی (کے لئے) تم میں سے دو عادل شخص ہوں یا تمہارے غیروں میں سے (کوئی) دوسرے دو شخص ہوں اگر تم ملک میں سفر کر رہے ہو پھر (اسی حال میں) تمہیں موت کی مصیبت آپہنچے تو تم ان دونوں کو نماز کے بعد روک لو، اگر تمہیں (ان پر) شک گزرے تو وہ دونوں اللہ کی قَسمیں کھائیں کہ ہم اس کے عوض کوئی قیمت حاصل نہیں کریں گے خواہ کوئی (کتنا ہی) قرابت دار ہو اور نہ ہم اللہ کی (مقرر کردہ) گواہی کو چھپائیں گے (اگر چھپائیں تو) ہم اسی وقت گناہگاروں میں ہو جائیں گے

O you who have believed, testimony [should be taken] among you when death approaches one of you at the time of bequest - [that of] two just men from among you or two others from outside if you are traveling through the land and the disaster of death should strike you. Detain them after the prayer and let them both swear by Allah if you doubt [their testimony, saying], "We will not exchange our oath for a price, even if he should be a near relative, and we will not withhold the testimony of Allah. Indeed, we would then be of the sinful."

يٰبَنِىۡۤ اٰدَمَ لَا يَفۡتِنَـنَّكُمُ الشَّيۡطٰنُ كَمَاۤ اَخۡرَجَ اَبَوَيۡكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡجَـنَّةِ يَنۡزِعُ عَنۡهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوۡءٰتِهِمَا ؕ اِنَّهٗ يَرٰٮكُمۡ هُوَ وَقَبِيۡلُهٗ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا تَرَوۡنَهُمۡؕ اِنَّا جَعَلۡنَا الشَّيٰطِيۡنَ اَوۡلِيَآءَ لِلَّذِيۡنَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ

Ya banee adama layaftinannakumu ashshaytanu kama akhrajaabawaykum mina aljannati yanziAAu AAanhuma libasahumaliyuriyahuma saw-atihima innahu yarakumhuwa waqabeeluhu min haythu la tarawnahum innajaAAalna ashshayateena awliyaa lillatheenala yu/minoon

اے اولادِ آدم! (کہیں) تمہیں شیطان فتنہ میں نہ ڈال دے جس طرح اس نے تمہارے ماں باپ کو جنت سے نکال دیا، ان سے ان کا لباس اتروا دیا تاکہ انہیں ان کی شرم گاہیں دکھا دے۔ بیشک وہ (خود) اور اس کا قبیلہ تمہیں (ایسی ایسی جگہوں سے) دیکھتا (رہتا) ہے جہاں سے تم انہیں نہیں دیکھ سکتے۔ بیشک ہم نے شیطانوں کو ایسے لوگوں کا دوست بنا دیا ہے جو ایمان نہیں رکھتے

O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.

Fakaththaboohu faanjaynahu wallatheenamaAAahu fee alfulki waaghraqna allatheena kaththaboobi-ayatina innahum kanoo qawmanAAameen

پھر ان لوگوں نے انہیں جھٹلایا سو ہم نے انہیں اور ان لوگوں کو جو کَشتی میں ان کی معیّت میں تھے نجات دی اور ہم نے ان لوگوں کو غرق کر دیا جنہوں نے ہماری آیتوں کو جھٹلایا تھا، بیشک وہ اندھے (یعنی بے بصیرت) لوگ تھے

But they denied him, so We saved him and those who were with him in the ship. And We drowned those who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a blind people.

Faanjaynahu wallatheenamaAAahu birahmatin minna waqataAAna dabiraallatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinawama kanoo mu/mineen

So We saved him and those with him by mercy from Us. And We eliminated those who denied Our signs, and they were not [at all] believers.

Waamtarna AAalayhim mataranfanthur kayfa kana AAaqibatualmujrimeen

وَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا فِىۡ قَرۡيَةٍ مِّنۡ نَّبِىٍّ اِلَّاۤ اَخَذۡنَاۤ اَهۡلَهَا بِالۡبَاۡسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَضَّرَّعُوۡنَ

Wama arsalna fee qaryatin minnabiyyin illa akhathna ahlaha bilba/sa-iwaddarra-i laAAallahum yaddarraAAoon

And if there was any qur'an by which the mountains would be removed or the earth would be broken apart or the dead would be made to speak, [it would be this Qur'an], but to Allah belongs the affair entirely. Then have those who believed not accepted that had Allah willed, He would have guided the people, all of them? And those who disbelieve do not cease to be struck, for what they have done, by calamity - or it will descend near their home - until there comes the promise of Allah. Indeed, Allah does not fail in [His] promise.

مَاۤ اَصَابَ مِنۡ مُّصِيۡبَةٍ اِلَّا بِاِذۡنِ اللّٰهِؕ وَمَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنۡۢ بِاللّٰهِ يَهۡدِ قَلۡبَهٗؕ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيۡمٌ
— Transliteration
Ma asaba min museebatinilla bi-ithni Allahi waman yu/min billahiyahdi qalbahu wallahu bikulli shay-in AAaleem

(کسی کو) کوئی مصیبت نہیں پہنچتی مگر اللہ کے حکم سے اور جو شخص اللہ پر ایمان لاتا ہے تو وہ اُس کے دل کو ہدایت فرما دیتا ہے، اور اللہ ہر چیز کو خوب جاننے والا ہےo

No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah - He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things.
