اللّٰهُ نُوۡرُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ‌ؕ مَثَلُ نُوۡرِهٖ كَمِشۡكٰوةٍ فِيۡهَا مِصۡبَاحٌ‌ؕ الۡمِصۡبَاحُ فِىۡ زُجَاجَةٍ‌ؕ اَلزُّجَاجَةُ كَاَنَّهَا كَوۡكَبٌ دُرِّىٌّ يُّوۡقَدُ مِنۡ شَجَرَةٍ مُّبٰرَكَةٍ زَيۡتُوۡنَةٍ لَّا شَرۡقِيَّةٍ وَّلَا غَرۡبِيَّةٍۙ يَّـكَادُ زَيۡتُهَا يُضِىۡٓءُ وَلَوۡ لَمۡ تَمۡسَسۡهُ نَارٌ‌ؕ نُّوۡرٌ عَلٰى نُوۡرٍ‌ؕ يَهۡدِىۡ اللّٰهُ لِنُوۡرِهٖ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ‌ؕ وَيَضۡرِبُ اللّٰهُ الۡاَمۡثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ‌ؕ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيۡمٌۙ‏ 
— Transliteration
Allahu nooru assamawatiwal-ardi mathalu noorihi kamishkatin feehamisbahun almisbahu fee zujajatinazzujajatu kaannaha kawkabun durriyyunyooqadu min shajaratin mubarakatin zaytoonatin lasharqiyyatin wala gharbiyyatin yakadu zaytuhayudee-o walaw lam tamsas-hu narun noorun AAalanoorin yahdee Allahu linoorihi man yashao wayadribuAllahu al-amthala linnasi wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem

Urdu —
اللہ آسمانوں اور زمین کا نور ہے، اس کے نور کی مثال (جو نورِ محمدی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی شکل میں دنیا میں روشن ہے) اس طاق (نما سینۂ اقدس) جیسی ہے جس میں چراغِ (نبوت روشن) ہے؛ (وہ) چراغ، فانوس (قلبِ محمدی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) میں رکھا ہے۔ (یہ) فانوس (نورِ الٰہی کے پرتَو سے اس قدر منور ہے) گویا ایک درخشندہ ستارہ ہے (یہ چراغِ نبوت) جو زیتون کے مبارک درخت سے (یعنی عالم قدس کے بابرکت رابطہ وحی سے یا انبیاء و رسل ہی کے مبارک شجرۂ نبوت سے) روشن ہوا ہے نہ (فقط) شرقی ہے اور نہ غربی (بلکہ اپنے فیضِ نور کی وسعت میں عالم گیر ہے) ۔ ایسا معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ اس کا تیل (خود ہی) چمک رہا ہے اگرچہ ابھی اسے (وحی ربّانی اور معجزاتِ آسمانی کی) آگ نے چھوا بھی نہیں، (وہ) نور کے اوپر نور ہے (یعنی نورِ وجود پر نورِ نبوت گویا وہ ذات دوہرے نور کا پیکر ہے)، اللہ جسے چاہتا ہے اپنے نور (کی معرفت) تک پہنچا دیتا ہے، اور اللہ لوگوں (کی ہدایت) کے لئے مثالیں بیان فرماتا ہے، اور اللہ ہر چیز سے خوب آگاہ ہے
— English
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.

قِيۡلَ لَهَا ادۡخُلِىۡ الصَّرۡحَ‌ۚ فَلَمَّا رَاَتۡهُ حَسِبَتۡهُ لُـجَّةً وَّكَشَفَتۡ عَنۡ سَاقَيۡهَا‌ؕ قَالَ اِنَّهٗ صَرۡحٌ مُّمَرَّدٌ مِّنۡ قَوَارِيۡرَ‌  ؕ قَالَتۡ رَبِّ اِنِّىۡ ظَلَمۡتُ نَفۡسِىۡ وَاَسۡلَمۡتُ مَعَ سُلَيۡمٰنَ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ‏ 
— Transliteration
Qeela laha odkhulee assarhafalamma raat-hu hasibat-hu lujjatan wakashafat AAansaqayha qala innahu sarhunmumarradun min qawareera qalat rabbi innee thalamtunafsee waaslamtu maAAa sulaymana lillahi rabbi alAAalameen

اس (ملکہ) سے کہا گیا: اس محل کے صحن میں داخل ہو جا (جس کے نیچے نیلگوں پانی کی لہریں چلتی تھیں)، پھر جب ملکہ نے اس (مزیّن بلوریں فرش) کو دیکھا تو اسے گہرے پانی کا تالاب سمجھا اور اس نے (پائینچے اٹھا کر) اپنی دونوں پنڈلیاں کھول دیں، سلیمان (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: یہ تو محل کا شیشوں جڑا صحن ہے، اس (ملکہ) نے عرض کیا: اے میرے پروردگار! (میں اسی طرح فریبِ نظر میں مبتلا تھی) بیشک میں نے اپنی جان پر ظلم کیا اور اب میں سلیمان (علیہ السلام) کی معیّت میں اس اللہ کی فرمانبردار ہو گئی ہوں جو تمام جہانوں کا رب ہے
— English
She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
