Wallatheena yu/minoona bimaonzila ilayka wama onzila min qablika wabil-akhiratihum yooqinoon

Those are the ones who have bought the life of this world [in exchange] for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be aided.

WattabaAAoo ma tatloo ashshayateenuAAala mulki sulaymana wama kafara sulaymanuwalakinna ashshayateena kafarooyuAAallimoona annasa assihra wamaonzila AAala almalakayni bibabila harootawamaroota wama yuAAallimani min ahadinhatta yaqoola innama nahnufitnatun fala takfur fayataAAallamoona minhuma mayufarriqoona bihi bayna almar-i wazawjihi wama hum bidarreenabihi min ahadin illa bi-ithni AllahiwayataAAallamoona ma yadurruhum walayanfaAAuhum walaqad AAalimoo lamani ishtarahu malahu fee al-akhirati min khalaqin walabi/sa masharaw bihi anfusahum law kanoo yaAAlamoon

اور وہ (یہود تو) اس چیز (یعنی جادو) کے پیچھے (بھی) لگ گئے تھے جو سلیمان (علیہ السلام) کے عہدِ حکومت میں شیاطین پڑھا کرتے تھے حالانکہ سلیمان (علیہ السلام) نے (کوئی) کفر نہیں کیا بلکہ کفر تو شیطانوں نے کیا جو لوگوں کو جادو سکھاتے تھے اور اس (جادو کے علم) کے پیچھے (بھی) لگ گئے جو شہر بابل میں ہاروت اور ماروت (نامی) دو فرشتوں پر اتارا گیا تھا، وہ دونوں کسی کو کچھ نہ سکھاتے تھے یہاں تک کہ کہہ دیتے کہ ہم تو محض آزمائش (کے لئے) ہیں سو تم (اس پر اعتقاد رکھ کر) کافر نہ بنو، اس کے باوجود وہ (یہودی) ان دونوں سے ایسا (منتر) سیکھتے تھے جس کے ذریعے شوہر اور اس کی بیوی کے درمیان جدائی ڈال دیتے، حالانکہ وہ اس کے ذریعے کسی کو بھی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتے مگر اللہ ہی کے حکم سے اور یہ لوگ وہی چیزیں سیکھتے ہیں جو ان کے لئے ضرر رساں ہیں اور انہیں نفع نہیں پہنچاتیں اور انہیں (یہ بھی) یقینا معلوم تھا کہ جو کوئی اس (کفر یا جادو ٹونے) کا خریدار بنا اس کے لئے آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں (ہوگا)، اور وہ بہت ہی بری چیز ہے جس کے بدلے میں انہوں نے اپنی جانوں (کی حقیقی بہتری یعنی اُخروی فلاح) کو بیچ ڈالا، کاش! وہ اس (سودے کی حقیقت) کو جانتے

And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic]." And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah. And the people learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But the Children of Israel certainly knew that whoever purchased the magic would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew.

Waman athlamu mimman manaAAamasajida Allahi an yuthkara feehaismuhu wasaAAa fee kharabiha ola-ikama kana lahum an yadkhulooha illa kha-ifeenalahum fee addunya khizyun walahum fee al-akhiratiAAathabun AAatheem

اور اس شخص سے بڑھ کر کون ظالم ہوگا جو اللہ کی مسجدوں میں اس کے نام کا ذکر کیے جانے سے روک دے اور انہیں ویران کرنے کی کوشش کرے! انہیں ایسا کرنا مناسب نہ تھا کہ مسجدوں میں داخل ہوتے مگر ڈرتے ہوئے، ان کے لئے دنیا میں (بھی) ذلّت ہے اور ان کے لئے آخرت میں (بھی) بڑا عذاب ہے

And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques and strive toward their destruction. It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment.

— Transliteration
Waman yarghabu AAan millati ibraheemailla man safiha nafsahu walaqadi istafaynahufee addunya wa-innahu fee al-akhiratilamina assaliheen

اور کون ہے جو ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) کے دین سے رُوگرداں ہو سوائے اس کے جس نے خود کو مبتلائے حماقت کر رکھا ہو، اور بیشک ہم نے انہیں ضرور دنیا میں (بھی) منتخب فرما لیا تھا اور یقیناً وہ آخرت میں (بھی) بلند رتبہ مقرّبین میں ہوں گے

And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous.

Fa-itha qadaytum manasikakumfathkuroo Allaha kathikrikum abaakumaw ashadda thikran famina annasi manyaqoolu rabbana atina fee addunyawama lahu fee al-akhirati min khalaq

پھر جب تم اپنے حج کے ارکان پورے کر چکو تو (منیٰ میں) اﷲ کا خوب ذکر کیا کرو جیسے تم اپنے باپ دادا کا (بڑے شوق سے) ذکر کرتے ہو یا اس سے بھی زیادہ شدّتِ شوق سے (اﷲ کا) ذکر کیا کرو، پھر لوگوں میں سے کچھ ایسے بھی ہیں جو کہتے ہیں: اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں دنیا میں (ہی) عطا کر دے اور ایسے شخص کے لئے آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں ہے

And when you have completed your rites, remember Allah like your [previous] remembrance of your fathers or with [much] greater remembrance. And among the people is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world," and he will have in the Hereafter no share.

— Transliteration
Yas-aloonaka AAani ashshahri alharamiqitalin feehi qul qitalun feehi kabeerun wasaddunAAan sabeeli Allahi wakufrun bihi walmasjidi alharamiwa-ikhraju ahlihi minhu akbaru AAinda Allahi walfitnatuakbaru mina alqatli wala yazaloona yuqatiloonakumhatta yaruddookum AAan deenikum ini istataAAoowaman yartadid minkum AAan deenihi fayamut wahuwa kafirunfaola-ika habitat aAAmaluhum fee addunyawal-akhirati waola-ika as-habuannari hum feeha khalidoon

لوگ آپ سے حرمت والے مہینے میں جنگ کا حکم دریافت کرتے ہیں، فرما دیں: اس میں جنگ بڑا گناہ ہے اور اﷲ کی راہ سے روکنا اور اس سے کفر کرنا اور مسجدِ حرام (خانہ کعبہ) سے روکنا اور وہاں کے رہنے والوں کو وہاں سے نکالنا اﷲ کے نزدیک (اس سے بھی) بڑا گناہ ہے، اور یہ فتنہ انگیزی قتل و خون سے بھی بڑھ کر ہے اور (یہ کافر) تم سے ہمیشہ جنگ جاری رکھیں گے یہاں تک کہ تمہیں تمہارے دین سے پھیر دیں اگر (وہ اتنی) طاقت پاسکیں، اور تم میں سے جو شخص اپنے دین سے پھر جائے اور پھر وہ کافر ہی مرے تو ایسے لوگوں کے دنیا و آخرت میں (سب) اعمال برباد ہو جائیں گے، اور یہی لوگ جہنمی ہیں وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے

They ask you about the sacred month - about fighting therein. Say, "Fighting therein is great [sin], but averting [people] from the way of Allah and disbelief in Him and [preventing access to] al-Masjid al-Haram and the expulsion of its people therefrom are greater [evil] in the sight of Allah. And fitnah is greater than killing." And they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able. And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever - for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally.

يَسۡـَٔـلُوۡنَكَ عَنِ الۡخَمۡرِ وَالۡمَيۡسِرِؕ قُلۡ فِيۡهِمَآ اِثۡمٌ کَبِيۡرٌ وَّمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَاِثۡمُهُمَآ اَکۡبَرُ مِنۡ نَّفۡعِهِمَاؕ وَيَسۡـَٔـلُوۡنَكَ مَاذَا يُنۡفِقُوۡنَؕ قُلِ الۡعَفۡوَؕ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَـكُمُ الۡاٰيٰتِ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تَتَفَكَّرُوۡنَۙ

Yas-aloonaka AAani alkhamri walmaysiriqul feehima ithmun kabeerun wamanafiAAu linnasiwa-ithmuhuma akbaru min nafAAihima wayas-aloonaka mathayunfiqoona quli alAAafwa kathalika yubayyinu Allahulakumu al-ayati laAAallakum tatafakkaroon

آپ سے شراب اور جوئے کی نسبت سوال کرتے ہیں، فرما دیں: ان دونوں میں بڑا گناہ ہے اور لوگوں کے لئے کچھ (دنیوی) فائدے بھی ہیں مگر ان دونوں کا گناہ ان کے نفع سے بڑھ کر ہے، اور آپ سے یہ بھی پوچھتے ہیں کہ کیا کچھ خرچ کریں؟ فرما دیں: جو ضرورت سے زائد ہے (خرچ کر دو)، اسی طرح اﷲ تمہارے لئے (اپنے) احکام کھول کر بیان فرماتا ہے تاکہ تم غور و فکر کرو

They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought.

فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا وَالۡاٰخِرَةِؕ وَيَسۡـَٔـلُوۡنَكَ عَنِ الۡيَتٰمٰىؕ قُلۡ اِصۡلَاحٌ لَّهُمۡ خَيۡرٌؕ وَّاِنۡ تُخَالِطُوۡهُمۡ فَاِخۡوَانُكُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ يَعۡلَمُ الۡمُفۡسِدَ مِنَ الۡمُصۡلِحِؕ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ اللّٰهُ لَاَعۡنَتَكُمۡؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَزِيۡزٌ حَكِيۡمٌ
— Transliteration
Fee addunya wal-akhiratiwayas-aloonaka AAani alyatama qul islahunlahum khayrun wa-in tukhalitoohum fa-ikhwanukumwallahu yaAAlamu almufsida mina almuslihiwalaw shaa Allahu laaAAnatakum inna AllahaAAazeezun hakeem

(تمہارا غور و فکر) دنیا اور آخرت (دونوں کے معاملات) میں (رہے)، اور آپ سے یتیموں کے بارے میں دریافت کرتے ہیں، فرما دیں: ان (کے معاملات) کا سنوارنا بہتر ہے، اور اگر انہیں (نفقہ و کاروبار میں) اپنے ساتھ ملا لو تو وہ بھی تمہارے بھائی ہیں، اور اﷲ خرابی کرنے والے کو بھلائی کرنے والے سے جدا پہچانتا ہے، اور اگر اﷲ چاہتا تو تمہیں مشقت میں ڈال دیتا، بیشک اﷲ بڑا غالب بڑی حکمت والا ہے

To this world and the Hereafter. And they ask you about orphans. Say, "Improvement for them is best. And if you mix your affairs with theirs - they are your brothers. And Allah knows the corrupter from the amender. And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.

They are the ones whose deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and for them there will be no helpers.

Ith qalati almala-ikatuya maryamu inna Allaha yubashshiruki bikalimatinminhu ismuhu almaseehu AAeesa ibnu maryama wajeehanfee addunya wal-akhirati waminaalmuqarrabeen

جب فرشتوں نے کہا: اے مریم! بیشک اﷲ تمہیں اپنے پاس سے ایک کلمۂ (خاص) کی بشارت دیتا ہے جس کا نام مسیح عیسٰی بن مریم (علیھما السلام) ہوگا وہ دنیا اور آخرت (دونوں) میں قدر و منزلت والا ہو گا اور اﷲ کے خاص قربت یافتہ بندوں میں سے ہوگا

[And mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah].

— Transliteration
Faamma allatheena kafaroofaoAAaththibuhum AAathaban shadeedan fee addunyawal-akhirati wama lahum min nasireen

پھر جو لوگ کافر ہوئے انہیں دنیا اور آخرت (دونوں میں) سخت عذاب دوں گا اور ان کا کوئی مددگار نہ ہو گا

And as for those who disbelieved, I will punish them with a severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers."

Inna allatheena yashtaroona biAAahdiAllahi waaymanihim thamanan qaleelan ola-ikala khalaqa lahum fee al-akhirati walayukallimuhumu Allahu wala yanthuruilayhim yawma alqiyamati wala yuzakkeehim walahumAAathabun aleem

بیشک جو لوگ اﷲ کے عہد اور اپنی قَسموں کا تھوڑی سی قیمت کے عوض سودا کر دیتے ہیں یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے لئے آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہیں اور نہ قیامت کے دن اﷲ ان سے کلام فرمائے گا اور نہ ہی ان کی طرف نگاہ فرمائے گا اور نہ انہیں پاکیزگی دے گا اور ان کے لئے دردناک عذاب ہو گا

Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their [own] oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment.

اور جو کوئی اسلام کے سوا کسی اور دین کو چاہے گا تو وہ اس سے ہرگز قبول نہیں کیا جائے گا، اور وہ آخرت میں نقصان اٹھانے والوں میں سے ہوگا

And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous.

— Transliteration
Wama kana linafsin an tamootailla bi-ithni Allahi kitabanmu-ajjalan waman yurid thawaba addunyanu/tihi minha waman yurid thawaba al-akhiratinu/tihi minha wasanajzee ashshakireen

اور کوئی شخص اللہ کے حکم کے بغیر نہیں مر سکتا (اس کا) وقت لکھا ہوا ہے، اور جو شخص دنیا کا انعام چاہتا ہے ہم اسے اس میں سے دے دیتے ہیں، اور جو آخرت کا انعام چاہتا ہے ہم اسے اس میں سے دے دیتے ہیں، اور ہم عنقریب شکر گزاروں کو (خوب) صلہ دیں گے

And it is not [possible] for one to die except by permission of Allah at a decree determined. And whoever desires the reward of this world - We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter - We will give him thereof. And we will reward the grateful.

— Transliteration
Faatahumu Allahu thawabaaddunya wahusna thawabi al-akhiratiwallahu yuhibbu almuhsineen

پس اللہ نے انہیں دنیا کا بھی انعام عطا فرمایا اور آخرت کے بھی عمدہ اجر سے نوازا، اور اللہ (ان) نیکو کاروں سے پیار کرتا ہے (جو صرف اسی کو چاہتے ہیں)

So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the good reward of the Hereafter. And Allah loves the doers of good.

وَلَقَدۡ صَدَقَكُمُ اللّٰهُ وَعۡدَهٗۤ اِذۡ تَحُسُّوۡنَهُمۡ بِاِذۡنِهٖۚ حَتّٰیٓ اِذَا فَشِلۡتُمۡ وَتَنَازَعۡتُمۡ فِىۡ الۡاَمۡرِ وَعَصَيۡتُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَاۤ اَرٰٮكُمۡ مَّا تُحِبُّوۡنَؕ مِنۡكُمۡ مَّنۡ يُّرِيۡدُ الدُّنۡيَا وَمِنۡكُمۡ مَّنۡ يُّرِيۡدُ الۡاٰخِرَةَ ۚ ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمۡ عَنۡهُمۡ لِيَبۡتَلِيَكُمۡۚ وَلَقَدۡ عَفَا عَنۡكُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ ذُوۡ فَضۡلٍ عَلَى الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Walaqad sadaqakumu AllahuwaAAdahu ith tahussoonahum bi-ithnihi hattaitha fashiltum watanazaAAtum fee al-amri waAAasaytummin baAAdi ma arakum ma tuhibboonaminkum man yureedu addunya waminkum man yureedual-akhirata thumma sarafakum AAanhum liyabtaliyakumwalaqad AAafa AAankum wallahu thoofadlin AAala almu/mineen

اور بیشک اللہ نے تمہیں اپنا وعدہ سچ کر دکھایا جب تم اس کے حکم سے انہیں قتل کر رہے تھے، یہاں تک کہ تم نے بزدلی کی اور (رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے) حکم کے بارے میں جھگڑنے لگے اور تم نے اس کے بعد (ان کی) نافرمانی کی جب کہ اللہ نے تمہیں وہ (فتح) دکھا دی تھی جو تم چاہتے تھے، تم میں سے کوئی دنیا کا خواہش مند تھا اور تم میں سے کوئی آخرت کا طلب گار تھا، پھر اس نے تمہیں ان سے (مغلوب کر کے) پھیر دیا تاکہ وہ تمہیں آزمائے، (بعد ازاں) اس نے تمہیں معاف کر دیا، اور اللہ اہلِ ایمان پر بڑے فضل والا ہے

And Allah had certainly fulfilled His promise to you when you were killing the enemy by His permission until [the time] when you lost courage and fell to disputing about the order [given by the Prophet] and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you love. Among you are some who desire this world, and among you are some who desire the Hereafter. Then he turned you back from them [defeated] that He might test you. And He has already forgiven you, and Allah is the possessor of bounty for the believers.

وَلَا يَحۡزُنۡكَ الَّذِيۡنَ يُسَارِعُوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡكُفۡرِۚ اِنَّهُمۡ لَنۡ يَّضُرُّوۡا اللّٰهَ شَيْئًا ؕ يُرِيۡدُ اللّٰهُ اَلَّا يَجۡعَلَ لَهُمۡ حَظًّا فِىۡ الۡاٰخِرَةِۚ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌ
— Transliteration
Wala yahzunka allatheenayusariAAoona fee alkufri innahum lan yadurroo Allahashay-an yureedu Allahu alla yajAAala lahum haththanfee al-akhirati walahum AAathabun AAatheem

(اے غمگسارِ عالم!) جو لوگ کفر (کی مدد کرنے) میں بہت تیزی کرتے ہیں وہ آپ کو غمزدہ نہ کریں، وہ اللہ (کے دین) کا کچھ نہیں بگاڑ سکتے اور اللہ چاہتا ہے کہ ان کے لئے آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہ رکھے اور ان کے لئے زبردست عذاب ہے

And do not be grieved, [O Muhammad], by those who hasten into disbelief. Indeed, they will never harm Allah at all. Allah intends that He should give them no share in the Hereafter, and for them is a great punishment.

فَلۡيُقَاتِلۡ فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ الَّذِيۡنَ يَشۡرُوۡنَ الۡحَيٰوةَ الدُّنۡيَا بِالۡاٰخِرَةِؕ وَمَنۡ يُّقَاتِلۡ فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ فَيُقۡتَلۡ اَوۡ يَغۡلِبۡ فَسَوۡفَ نُؤۡتِيۡهِ اَجۡرًا عَظِيۡمًا
— Transliteration
Falyuqatil fee sabeeli Allahiallatheena yashroona alhayata addunyabil-akhirati waman yuqatil fee sabeeli Allahifayuqtal aw yaghlib fasawfa nu/teehi ajran AAatheema

پس ان (مؤمنوں) کو اللہ کی راہ میں (دین کی سربلندی کے لئے) لڑنا چاہئے جو آخرت کے عوض دنیوی زندگی کو بیچ دیتے ہیں، اور جو کوئی اللہ کی راہ میں جنگ کرے، خواہ وہ (خود) قتل ہو جائے یا غالب آجائے توہم (دونوں صورتوں میں) عنقریب اسے عظیم اجر عطا فرمائیں گے

So let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. And he who fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory - We will bestow upon him a great reward.

Alam tara ila allatheena qeelalahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo assalatawaatoo azzakata falamma kutibaAAalayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawnaannasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashaddakhashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta AAalaynaalqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalinqareebin qul mataAAu addunya qaleelun wal-akhiratukhayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoonafateela

کیا آپ نے ان لوگوں کا حال نہیں دیکھا جنہیں (ابتداءً کچھ عرصہ کے لئے) یہ کہا گیا کہ اپنے ہاتھ (قتال سے) روکے رکھو اور نماز قائم کئے رہواور زکوٰۃ دیتے رہو (تو وہ اس پر خوش تھے)، پھر جب ان پر جہاد (یعنی کفر اور ظلم سے ٹکرانا) فرض کر دیا گیا تو ان میں سے ایک گروہ (مخالف) لوگوں سے (یوں) ڈرنے لگا جیسے اللہ سے ڈرا جاتا ہے یا اس سے بھی بڑھ کر۔ اور کہنے لگے: اے ہمارے رب! تو نے ہم پر (اس قدر جلدی) جہاد کیوں فرض کر دیا؟ تو نے ہمیں مزید تھوڑی مدت تک مہلت کیوں نہ دی؟ آپ (انہیں) فرما دیجئے کہ دنیا کا مفاد بہت تھوڑا (یعنی معمولی شے) ہے، اور آخرت بہت اچھی (نعمت) ہے اس کے لئے جو پرہیزگار بن جائے، وہاں ایک دھاگے کے برابر بھی تمہاری حق تلفی نہیں کی جائے گی

Have you not seen those who were told, "Restrain your hands [from fighting] and establish prayer and give zakah"? But then when fighting was ordained for them, at once a party of them feared men as they fear Allah or with [even] greater fear. They said, "Our Lord, why have You decreed upon us fighting? If only You had postponed [it for] us for a short time." Say, The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for he who fears Allah. And injustice will not be done to you, [even] as much as a thread [inside a date seed]."

Whoever desires the reward of this world - then with Allah is the reward of this world and the Hereafter. And ever is Allah Hearing and Seeing.

— Transliteration
Alyawma ohilla lakumu attayyibatuwataAAamu allatheena ootoo alkitaba hillunlakum wataAAamukum hillun lahum walmuhsanatumina almu/minati walmuhsanatu minaallatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablikum itha ataytumoohunnaojoorahunna muhsineena ghayra musafiheenawala muttakhithee akhdanin waman yakfur bil-eemanifaqad habita AAamaluhu wahuwa fee al-akhiratimina alkhasireen

آج تمہارے لئے پاکیزہ چیزیں حلال کر دی گئیں، اور ان لوگوں کا ذبیحہ (بھی) جنہیں (اِلہامی) کتاب دی گئی تمہارے لئے حلال ہے اور تمہارا ذبیحہ ان کے لئے حلال ہے، اور (اسی طرح) پاک دامن مسلمان عورتیں اور ان لوگوں میں سے پاک دامن عورتیں جنہیں تم سے پہلے کتاب دی گئی تھی (تمہارے لئے حلال ہیں) جب کہ تم انہیں ان کے مَہر ادا کر دو، (مگر شرط) یہ کہ تم (انہیں) قیدِ نکاح میں لانے والے (عفت شعار) بنو نہ کہ (محض ہوس رانی کی خاطر) اِعلانیہ بدکاری کرنے والے اور نہ خفیہ آشنائی کرنے والے، اور جو شخص (اَحکامِ الٰہی پر) ایمان (لانے) سے انکار کرے تو اس کا سارا عمل برباد ہوگیا اور وہ آخرت میں (بھی) نقصان اٹھانے والوں میں سے ہوگا

This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

اِنَّمَا جَزٰٓؤُا الَّذِيۡنَ يُحَارِبُوۡنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ وَيَسۡعَوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡاَرۡضِ فَسَادًا اَنۡ يُّقَتَّلُوۡۤا اَوۡ يُصَلَّبُوۡۤا اَوۡ تُقَطَّعَ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَاَرۡجُلُهُمۡ مِّنۡ خِلَافٍ اَوۡ يُنۡفَوۡا مِنَ الۡاَرۡضِؕ ذٰلِكَ لَهُمۡ خِزۡىٌ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا وَلَهُمۡ فِىۡ الۡاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌۙ
— Transliteration
Innama jazao allatheenayuhariboona Allaha warasoolahu wayasAAawna feeal-ardi fasadan an yuqattaloo aw yusallabooaw tuqattaAAa aydeehim waarjuluhum min khilafin awyunfaw mina al-ardi thalika lahum khizyun fee addunyawalahum fee al-akhirati AAathabun AAatheem

بیشک جو لوگ اﷲ اور اس کے رسول سے جنگ کرتے ہیں اور زمین میں فساد انگیزی کرتے پھرتے ہیں (یعنی مسلمانوں میں خونریز رہزنی اور ڈاکہ زنی وغیرہ کے مرتکب ہوتے ہیں) ان کی سزا یہی ہے کہ وہ قتل کئے جائیں یا پھانسی دیئے جائیں یا ان کے ہاتھ اور ان کے پاؤں مخالف سمتوں سے کاٹے جائیں یا (وطن کی) زمین (میں چلنے پھرنے) سے دور (یعنی ملک بدر یاقید) کر دیئے جائیں۔ یہ (تو) ان کے لئے دنیا میں رسوائی ہے اور ان کے لئے آخرت میں (بھی) بڑا عذاب ہے

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,

يٰۤاَيُّهَا الرَّسُوۡلُ لَا يَحۡزُنۡكَ الَّذِيۡنَ يُسَارِعُوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡكُفۡرِ مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا بِاَفۡوَاهِهِمۡ وَلَمۡ تُؤۡمِنۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ ۛۚ وَمِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ هَادُوۡا ۛۚ سَمّٰعُوۡنَ لِلۡكَذِبِ سَمّٰعُوۡنَ لِقَوۡمٍ اٰخَرِيۡنَۙ لَمۡ يَاۡتُوۡكَؕ يُحَرِّفُوۡنَ الۡـكَلِمَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَوَاضِعِهٖۚ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ اِنۡ اُوۡتِيۡتُمۡ هٰذَا فَخُذُوۡهُ وَاِنۡ لَّمۡ تُؤۡتَوۡهُ فَاحۡذَرُوۡاؕ وَمَنۡ يُّرِدِ اللّٰهُ فِتۡنَـتَهٗ فَلَنۡ تَمۡلِكَ لَهٗ مِنَ اللّٰهِ شَيْئًا ؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ الَّذِيۡنَ لَمۡ يُرِدِ اللّٰهُ اَنۡ يُّطَهِّرَ قُلُوۡبَهُمۡؕ لَهُمۡ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا خِزۡىٌ ۚۖ وَّلَهُمۡ فِىۡ الۡاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌ
— Transliteration
Ya ayyuha arrasoolu layahzunka allatheena yusariAAoona fee alkufrimina allatheena qaloo amanna bi-afwahihimwalam tu/min quloobuhum wamina allatheena hadoosammaAAoona lilkathibi sammaAAoona liqawmin akhareenalam ya/tooka yuharrifoona alkalima min baAAdi mawadiAAihiyaqooloona in ooteetum hatha fakhuthoohu wa-in lamtu/tawhu fahtharoo waman yuridi Allahufitnatahu falan tamlika lahu mina Allahi shay-an ola-ikaallatheena lam yuridi Allahu an yutahhiraquloobahum lahum fee addunya khizyun walahum feeal-akhirati AAathabun AAatheem

اے رسول! وہ لوگ آپ کور نجیدہ خاطر نہ کریں جو کفر میں تیزی (سے پیش قدمی) کرتے ہیں ان میں (ایک) وہ (منافق) ہیں جو اپنے منہ سے کہتے ہیں کہ ہم ایمان لائے حالانکہ ان کے دل ایمان نہیں لائے، اور ان میں (دوسرے) یہودی ہیں، (یہ) جھوٹی باتیں بنانے کے لئے (آپ کو)خوب سنتے ہیں (یہ حقیقت میں) دوسرے لوگوں کے لئے (جاسوسی کی خاطر) سننے والے ہیں جو (ابھی تک) آپ کے پاس نہیں آئے، (یہ وہ لوگ ہیں) جو (اﷲ کے) کلمات کوان کے مواقع (مقرر ہونے) کے بعد (بھی) بدل دیتے ہیں (اور) کہتے ہیں: اگر تمہیں یہ (حکم جو ان کی پسند کا ہو) دیا جائے تو اسے اختیار کرلو اور اگر تمہیں یہ (حکم) نہ دیا جائے تو(اس سے) احتراز کرو، اور اﷲ جس شخص کی گمراہی کا ارادہ فرمالے تو تم اس کے لئے اﷲ (کے حکم کو روکنے) کا ہرگز کوئی اختیار نہیں رکھتے۔ یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے دلوں کو پاک کرنے کااﷲ نے ارادہ (ہی) نہیں فرمایا۔ ان کے لئے دنیا میں (کفر کی) ذلّت ہے اور ان کے لئے آخرت میں بڑا عذاب ہے

O Messenger, let them not grieve you who hasten into disbelief of those who say, "We believe" with their mouths, but their hearts believe not, and from among the Jews. [They are] avid listeners to falsehood, listening to another people who have not come to you. They distort words beyond their [proper] usages, saying "If you are given this, take it; but if you are not given it, then beware." But he for whom Allah intends fitnah - never will you possess [power to do] for him a thing against Allah. Those are the ones for whom Allah does not intend to purify their hearts. For them in this world is disgrace, and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.

اور یہ (وہ) کتاب ہے جسے ہم نے نازل فرمایا ہے، بابرکت ہے، جو کتابیں اس سے پہلے تھیں ان کی (اصلاً) تصدیق کرنے والی ہے۔ اور (یہ) اس لئے (نازل کی گئی ہے) کہ آپ (اولاً) سب (انسانی) بستیوں کے مرکز (مکّہ) والوں کو اور (ثانیاً ساری دنیا میں) اس کے ارد گرد والوں کو ڈر سنائیں، اور جو لوگ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اس پر وہی ایمان لاتے ہیں اور وہی لوگ اپنی نماز کی پوری حفاظت کرتے ہیں

And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers.

Wakathalika jaAAalna likullinabiyyin AAaduwwan shayateena al-insi waljinni yooheebaAAduhum ila baAAdin zukhrufa alqawlighurooran walaw shaa rabbuka ma faAAaloohu fatharhumwama yaftaroon

اور اسی طرح ہم نے ہر نبی کے لئے انسانوں اور جِنّوں میں سے شیطانوں کو دشمن بنا دیا جو ایک دوسرے کے دل میں ملمع کی ہوئی (چکنی چپڑی) باتیں (وسوسہ کے طور پر) دھوکہ دینے کے لئے ڈالتے رہتے ہیں، اور اگر آپ کا ربّ (انہیں جبراً روکنا) چاہتا (تو) وہ ایسا نہ کر پاتے، سو آپ انہیں (بھی) چھوڑ دیں اور جو کچھ وہ بہتان باندھ رہے ہیں (اسے بھی)

And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion. But if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and that which they invent.

اور (یہ) اس لئے کہ ان لوگوں کے دل اس (فریب) کی طرف مائل ہو جائیں جو آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے اور (یہ) کہ وہ اسے پسند کرنے لگیں اور (یہ بھی) کہ وہ (انہی اعمالِ بد کا) ارتکاب کرنے لگیں جن کے وہ خود (مرتکب) ہو رہے ہیں

And [it is] so the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter will incline toward it and that they will be satisfied with it and that they will commit that which they are committing.

Qul halumma shuhadaakumu allatheenayashhadoona anna Allaha harrama hatha fa-inshahidoo fala tashhad maAAahum wala tattabiAA ahwaaallatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinawallatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratiwahum birabbihim yaAAdiloon

(ان مشرکوں سے) فرما دیجئے کہ تم اپنے ان گواہوں کو پیش کرو جو (آکر) اس بات کی گواہی دیں کہ اﷲ نے اسے حرام کیا ہے، پھر اگر وہ (جھوٹی) گواہی دے ہی دیں تو ان کی گواہی کو تسلیم نہ کرنا (بلکہ ان کا جھوٹا ہونا ان پر آشکار کر دینا)، اور نہ ایسے لوگوں کی خواہشات کی پیروی کرنا جو ہماری آیتوں کو جھٹلاتے ہیں اور جو آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے اور وہ (معبودانِ باطلہ کو) اپنے رب کے برابر ٹھہراتے ہیں

Say, [O Muhammad], "Bring forward your witnesses who will testify that Allah has prohibited this." And if they testify, do not testify with them. And do not follow the desires of those who deny Our verses and those who do not believe in the Hereafter, while they equate [others] with their Lord.

Who averted [people] from the way of Allah and sought to make it [seem] deviant while they were, concerning the Hereafter, disbelievers.

Those who denied Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter - their deeds have become worthless. Are they recompensed except for what they used to do?

— Transliteration
Waktub lana fee hathihiaddunya hasanatan wafee al-akhiratiinna hudna ilayka qala AAathabee oseebubihi man ashao warahmatee wasiAAat kulla shay-infasaaktubuha lillatheena yattaqoona wayu/toona azzakatawallatheena hum bi-ayatinayu/minoon

اور تو ہمارے لئے اس دنیا (کی زندگی) میں (بھی) بھلائی لکھ دے اور آخرت میں (بھی) بیشک ہم تیری طرف تائب و راغب ہوچکے، ارشاد ہوا: میں اپنا عذاب جسے چاہتا ہوں اسے پہنچاتا ہوں اور میری رحمت ہر چیز پر وسعت رکھتی ہے، سو میں عنقریب اس (رحمت) کو ان لوگوں کے لئے لکھ دوں گا جو پرہیزگاری اختیار کرتے ہیں اور زکوٰۃ دیتے رہتے ہیں اور وہی لوگ ہی ہماری آیتوں پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں

And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You." [Allah] said, "My punishment - I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy encompasses all things." So I will decree it [especially] for those who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses -

فَخَلَفَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ خَلۡفٌ وَّرِثُوۡا الۡكِتٰبَ يَاۡخُذُوۡنَ عَرَضَ هٰذَا الۡاَدۡنٰى وَيَقُوۡلُوۡنَ سَيُغۡفَرُ لَـنَاۚ وَاِنۡ يَّاۡتِهِمۡ عَرَضٌ مِّثۡلُهٗ يَاۡخُذُوۡهُ ؕ اَلَمۡ يُؤۡخَذۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ مِّيۡثَاقُ الۡـكِتٰبِ اَنۡ لَّا يَقُوۡلُوۡا عَلَى اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الۡحَـقَّ وَدَرَسُوۡا مَا فِيۡهِؕ وَالدَّارُ الۡاٰخِرَةُ خَيۡرٌ لِّـلَّذِيۡنَ يَتَّقُوۡنَؕ اَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Fakhalafa min baAAdihim khalfun warithooalkitaba ya/khuthoona AAarada hathaal-adna wayaqooloona sayughfaru lana wa-in ya/tihimAAaradun mithluhu ya/khuthoohu alam yu/khathAAalayhim meethaqu alkitabi an la yaqoolooAAala Allahi illa alhaqqa wadarasoo mafeehi waddaru al-akhiratu khayrun lillatheenayattaqoona afala taAAqiloon

پھر ان کے بعد ناخلف (ان کے) جانشین بنے جو کتاب کے وارث ہوئے، یہ (جانشین) اس کم تر (دنیا) کا مال و دولت (رشوت کے طور پر) لے لیتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں: عنقریب ہمیں بخش دیا جائے گا، حالانکہ اسی طرح کا مال و متاع اور بھی ان کے پاس آجائے (تو) اسے بھی لے لیں، کیا ان سے کتابِ (الٰہی) کا یہ عہد نہیں لیا گیا تھا کہ وہ اللہ کے بارے میں حق (بات) کے سوا کچھ اور نہ کہیں گے؟ اور وہ (سب کچھ) پڑھ چکے تھے جو اس میں (لکھا) تھا؟ اور آخرت کا گھر ان لوگوں کے لئے بہتر ہے جو پرہیزگاری اختیار کرتے ہیں، کیا تم سمجھتے نہیں ہو

And there followed them successors who inherited the Scripture [while] taking the commodities of this lower life and saying, "It will be forgiven for us." And if an offer like it comes to them, they will [again] take it. Was not the covenant of the Scripture taken from them that they would not say about Allah except the truth, and they studied what was in it? And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah, so will you not use reason?

کسی نبی کو یہ سزاوار نہیں کہ اس کے لئے (کافر) قیدی ہوں جب تک کہ وہ زمین میں ان (حربی کافروں) کا اچھی طرح خون نہ بہا لے۔ تم لوگ دنیا کا مال و اسباب چاہتے ہو، اور اللہ آخرت کی (بھلائی) چاہتا ہے، اور اللہ خوب غالب حکمت والا ہے

It is not for a prophet to have captives [of war] until he inflicts a massacre [upon Allah 's enemies] in the land. Some Muslims desire the commodities of this world, but Allah desires [for you] the Hereafter. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooma lakum itha qeela lakumu infiroo fee sabeeli Allahiiththaqaltum ila al-ardi aradeetum bilhayatiaddunya mina al-akhirati fama mataAAualhayati addunya fee al-akhiratiilla qaleel

اے ایمان والو! تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ جب تم سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں (جہاد کے لئے) نکلو تو تم بوجھل ہو کر زمین (کی مادی و سفلی دنیا) کی طرف جھک جاتے ہو، کیا تم آخرت کے بدلے دنیا کی زندگی سے راضی ہو گئے ہو؟ سو آخرت (کے مقابلہ) میں دنیوی زندگی کا ساز و سامان کچھ بھی نہیں مگر بہت ہی کم (حیثیت رکھتا ہے)

O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah, you adhere heavily to the earth? Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little.

Kallatheena min qablikum kanooashadda minkum quwwatan waakthara amwalan waawladanfastamtaAAoo bikhalaqihim fastamtaAAtumbikhalaqikum kama istamtaAAa allatheena minqablikum bikhalaqihim wakhudtum kallatheekhadoo ola-ika habitat aAAmaluhumfee addunya wal-akhirati waola-ikahumu alkhasiroon

(اے منافقو! تم) ان لوگوں کی مثل ہو جو تم سے پہلے تھے۔ وہ تم سے بہت زیادہ طاقتور اور مال و اولاد میں کہیں زیادہ بڑھے ہوئے تھے۔ پس وہ اپنے (دنیوی) حصے سے فائدہ اٹھا چکے سو تم (بھی) اپنے حصے سے (اسی طرح) فائدہ اٹھا رہے ہو جیسے تم سے پہلے لوگوں نے (لذّتِ دنیا کے) اپنے مقررہ حصے سے فائدہ اٹھایا تھا نیز تم (بھی اسی طرح) باطل میں داخل اور غلطاں ہو جیسے وہ باطل میں داخل اور غلطاں تھے۔ ان لوگوں کے اعمال دنیا اور آخرت میں برباد ہو گئے اور وہی لوگ خسارے میں ہیں

[You disbelievers are] like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion [of worldly enjoyment], and you have enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion, and you have engaged [in vanities] like that in which they engaged. [It is] those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and in the Hereafter, and it is they who are the losers.

Yahlifoona billahi maqaloo walaqad qaloo kalimata alkufri wakafaroobaAAda islamihim wahammoo bima lam yanaloowama naqamoo illa an aghnahumu Allahuwarasooluhu min fadlihi fa-in yatooboo yaku khayran lahumwa-in yatawallaw yuAAaththibhumu Allahu AAathabanaleeman fee addunya wal-akhiratiwama lahum fee al-ardi min waliyyin wala naseer

(یہ منافقین) اللہ کی قَسمیں کھاتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے (کچھ) نہیں کہا حالانکہ انہوں نے یقیناً کلمہ کفر کہا اور وہ اپنے اسلام (کو ظاہر کرنے) کے بعد کافر ہو گئے اور انہوں نے (کئی اذیت رساں باتوں کا) ارادہ (بھی) کیا تھا جنہیں وہ نہ پا سکے اور وہ (اسلام اور رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے عمل میں سے) اور کسی چیز کو ناپسند نہ کر سکے سوائے اس کے کہ انہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے اپنے فضل سے غنی کر دیا تھا، سو اگر یہ (اب بھی) توبہ کر لیں تو ان کے لئے بہتر ہے اور اگر (اسی طرح) روگرداں رہیں تو اللہ انہیں دنیا اور آخرت (دونوں زندگیوں) میں دردناک عذاب میں مبتلا فرمائے گا اور ان کے لئے زمین میں نہ کوئی دوست ہوگا اور نہ کوئی مددگار

They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet] while they had said the word of disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] Islam and planned that which they were not to attain. And they were not resentful except [for the fact] that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His bounty. So if they repent, it is better for them; but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And there will not be for them on earth any protector or helper.

Those are the ones for whom there is not in the Hereafter but the Fire. And lost is what they did therein, and worthless is what they used to do.

Qala la ya/teekuma taAAamunturzaqanihi illa nabba/tukuma bita/weelihiqabla an ya/tiyakuma thalikuma mimmaAAallamanee rabbee innee taraktu millata qawmin layu/minoona billahi wahum bil-akhiratihum kafiroon

یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: جو کھانا (روز) تمہیں کھلایا جاتا ہے وہ تمہارے پاس آنے بھی نہ پائے گا کہ میں تم دونوں کو اس کی تعبیر تمہارے پاس اس کے آنے سے قبل بتا دوں گا، یہ (تعبیر) ان علوم میں سے ہے جو میرے رب نے مجھے سکھائے ہیں۔ بیشک میں نے اس قوم کا مذہب (شروع ہی سے) چھوڑ رکھا ہے جو اﷲ پر ایمان نہیں لاتے اور وہ آخرت کے بھی منکر ہیں

He said, "You will not receive food that is provided to you except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you. That is from what my Lord has taught me. Indeed, I have left the religion of a people who do not believe in Allah, and they, in the Hereafter, are disbelievers.

Rabbi qad ataytanee mina almulkiwaAAallamtanee min ta/weeli al-ahadeethi fatira assamawatiwal-ardi anta waliyyee fee addunyawal-akhirati tawaffanee musliman waalhiqneebissaliheen

My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous."

Wama arsalna min qablika illarijalan noohee ilayhim min ahli alquraafalam yaseeroo fee al-ardi fayanthurookayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablihimwaladaru al-akhirati khayrun lillatheenaittaqaw afala taAAqiloon

And We sent not before you [as messengers] except men to whom We revealed from among the people of cities. So have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? And the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah; then will you not reason?

Allahu yabsutu arrizqaliman yashao wayaqdiru wafarihoo bilhayatiaddunya wama alhayatu addunyafee al-akhirati illa mataAA

Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment.

Lahum AAathabun fee alhayatiaddunya walaAAathabu al-akhiratiashaqqu wama lahum mina Allahi min waq

ان کے لئے دنیوی زندگی میں (بھی) عذاب ہے اور یقیناً آخرت کا عذاب زیادہ سخت ہے، اور انہیں اﷲ (کے عذاب) سے کوئی بچانے والا نہیں

For them will be punishment in the life of [this] world, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe. And they will not have from Allah any protector.

(یہ) وہ لوگ ہیں جو دنیوی زندگی کو آخرت کے مقابلہ میں زیادہ پسند کرتے ہیں اور (لوگوں کو) اﷲ کی راہ سے روکتے ہیں اور اس (دینِ حق) میں کجی تلاش کرتے ہیں۔ یہ لوگ دور کی گمراہی میں (پڑ چکے) ہیں

The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allah, seeking to make it (seem) deviant. Those are in extreme error.

Yuthabbitu Allahu allatheena amanoobilqawli aththabiti fee alhayatiaddunya wafee al-akhirati wayudilluAllahu aththalimeenawayafAAalu Allahu ma yasha/

اللہ ایمان والوں کو (اس) مضبوط بات (کی برکت) سے دنیوی زندگی میں بھی ثابت قدم رکھتا ہے اور آخرت میں (بھی)۔ اور اللہ ظالموں کو گمراہ ٹھہرا دیتا ہے۔ اور اللہ جو چاہتا ہے کر ڈالتا ہے
— English
Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah sends astray the wrongdoers. And Allah does what He wills.

Ilahukum ilahun wahidunfallatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratiquloobuhum munkiratun wahum mustakbiroon

تمہارا معبود، معبودِ یکتا ہے، پس جو لوگ آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے ان کے دل منکر ہیں اور وہ سرکش و متکبّر ہیں

Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.

— Transliteration
Waqeela lillatheena ittaqaw mathaanzala rabbukum qaloo khayran lillatheena ahsanoofee hathihi addunya hasanatun waladarual-akhirati khayrun walaniAAma daru almuttaqeen

اور پرہیزگار لوگوں سے کہا جائے کہ تمہارے رب نے کیا نازل فرمایا ہے؟ وہ کہتے ہیں: (دنیا و آخرت کی) بھلائی (اتاری ہے)، ان لوگوں کے لئے جو نیکی کرتے رہے اس دنیا میں (بھی) بھلائی ہے، اور آخرت کا گھر تو ضرور ہی بہتر ہے، اور پرہیزگاروں کا گھر کیا ہی خوب ہے

And it will be said to those who feared Allah, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -

وَالَّذِيۡنَ هَاجَرُوۡا فِىۡ اللّٰهِ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُوۡا لَـنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمۡ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةً ؕ وَلَاَجۡرُ الۡاٰخِرَةِ اَكۡبَرُۘ لَوۡ كَانُوۡا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena hajaroofee Allahi min baAAdi ma thulimoolanubawwi-annahum fee addunya hasanatanwalaajru al-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoon

اور جنہوں نے اللہ کی راہ میں ہجرت کی اس کے بعد کہ ان پر (طرح طرح کے) ظلم توڑے گئے تو ہم ضرور انہیں دنیا (ہی) میں بہتر ٹھکانا دیں گے، اور آخرت کا اجر تو یقیناً بہت بڑا ہے، کاش! وہ (اس راز کو) جانتے ہوتے

And those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allah after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.

— Transliteration
Lillatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratimathalu assaw-i walillahi almathalu al-aAAlawahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem

ان لوگوں کی جو آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے (یہ) نہایت بری صفت ہے، اور بلند تر صفت اللہ ہی کی ہے اور وہ غالب حکمت والا ہے

For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description of evil; and for Allah is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise.

— Transliteration
Thalika bi-annahumu istahabbooalhayata addunya AAala al-akhiratiwaanna Allaha la yahdee alqawma alkafireen

یہ اس وجہ سے کہ انہوں نے دنیوی زندگی کو آخرت پر عزیز رکھا اور اس لئے کہ اللہ کافروں کی قوم کو ہدایت نہیں فرماتا

That is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.

In ahsantum ahsantumli-anfusikum wa-in asa/tum falaha fa-itha jaawaAAdu al-akhirati liyasoo-oo wujoohakum waliyadkhulooalmasjida kama dakhaloohu awwala marratin waliyutabbiroo maAAalaw tatbeera

اگر تم بھلائی کرو گے تو اپنے (ہی) لئے بھلائی کرو گے، اور اگر تم برائی کرو گے تو اپنی (ہی) جان کے لئے، پھر جب دوسرے وعدہ کی گھڑی آئی (تو اور ظالموں کو تم پر مسلّط کر دیا) تاکہ (مار مار کر) تمہارے چہرے بگاڑ دیں اور تاکہ مسجدِ اقصٰی میں (اسی طرح) داخل ہوں جیسے اس میں (حملہ آور لوگ) پہلی مرتبہ داخل ہوئے تھے اور تاکہ جس (مقام) پر غلبہ پائیں اسے تباہ و برباد کر ڈالیں
— English
[And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction.

اور جو شخص آخرت کا خواہش مند ہوا اور اس نے اس کے لئے اس کے لائق کوشش کی اور وہ مومن (بھی) ہے تو ایسے ہی لوگوں کی کوشش مقبولیت پائے گی

But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it while he is a believer - it is those whose effort is ever appreciated [by Allah].

— Transliteration
Onthur kayfa faddalnabaAAdahum AAala baAAdin walal-akhiratuakbaru darajatin waakbaru tafdeela

دیکھئے ہم نے ان میں سے بعض کو بعض پر کس طرح فضیلت دے رکھی ہے، اور یقینًا آخرت (دنیا کے مقابلہ میں) درجات کے لحاظ سے (بھی) بہت بڑی ہے اور فضیلت کے لحاظ سے (بھی) بہت بڑی ہے

Look how We have favored [in provision] some of them over others. But the Hereafter is greater in degrees [of difference] and greater in distinction.

And when you recite the Qur'an, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition.

And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way.

Waqulna min baAAdihi libanee isra-eelaoskunoo al-arda fa-itha jaa waAAdu al-akhiratiji/na bikum lafeefa

اور ہم نے اس کے بعد بنی اسرائیل سے فرمایا: تم اس ملک میں آباد ہو جاؤ پھر جب آخرت کا وعدہ آجائے گا (تو) ہم تم سب کو اکٹھا سمیٹ کر لے جائیں گے

And We said after Pharaoh to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in [one] gathering."

وَكَذٰلِكَ نَجزِىۡ مَنۡ اَسۡرَفَ وَلَمۡ يُؤۡمِنۡۢ بِاٰيٰتِ رَبِّهٖؕ وَلَعَذَابُ الۡاٰخِرَةِ اَشَدُّ وَاَبۡقٰى
— Transliteration
Wakathalika najzee man asrafa walamyu/min bi-ayati rabbihi walaAAathabu al-akhiratiashaddu waabqa

اور اسی طرح ہم اس شخص کو بدلہ دیتے ہیں جو (گناہوں میں) حد سے نکل جائے اور اپنے رب کی آیتوں پر ایمان نہ لائے، اور بیشک آخرت کا عذاب بڑا ہی سخت اور ہمیشہ رہنے والا ہے

And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring.

وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنۡ يَّعۡبُدُ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى حَرۡفٍۚ فَاِنۡ اَصَابَهٗ خَيۡرٌ ۨاطۡمَاَنَّ بِهٖۚ وَاِنۡ اَصَابَتۡهُ فِتۡنَةُ ۨانقَلَبَ عَلٰى وَجۡهِهٖۚ خَسِرَ الدُّنۡيَا وَالۡاٰخِرَةَ ؕ ذٰلِكَ هُوَ الۡخُسۡرَانُ الۡمُبِيۡنُ
— Transliteration
Wamina annasi man yaAAbuduAllaha AAala harfin fa-in asabahukhayrun itmaanna bihi wa-in asabat-hu fitnatuninqalaba AAala wajhihi khasira addunya wal-akhiratathalika huwa alkhusranu almubeen

اور لوگوں میں سے کوئی ایسا بھی ہوتا ہے جو (بالکل دین کے) کنارے پر (رہ کر) اﷲ کی عبادت کرتا ہے، پس اگر اسے کوئی (دنیاوی) بھلائی پہنچتی ہے تو وہ اس (دین) سے مطمئن ہو جاتا ہے اور اگر اسے کوئی آزمائش پہنچتی ہے تو اپنے منہ کے بل (دین سے) پلٹ جاتا ہے، اس نے دنیا میں (بھی) نقصان اٹھایا اور آخرت میں (بھی)، یہی تو واضح (طور پر) بڑا خسارہ ہے

And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss.

مَنۡ كَانَ يَظُنُّ اَنۡ لَّنۡ يَّـنۡصُرَهُ اللّٰهُ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا وَالۡاٰخِرَةِ فَلۡيَمۡدُدۡ بِسَبَبٍ اِلَى السَّمَآءِ ثُمَّ لۡيَقۡطَعۡ فَلۡيَنۡظُرۡ هَلۡ يُذۡهِبَنَّ كَيۡدُهٗ مَا يَغِيۡظُ
— Transliteration
Man kana yathunnu anlan yansurahu Allahu fee addunya wal-akhiratifalyamdud bisababin ila assama-i thummaliyaqtaAA falyanthur hal yuthhibannakayduhu ma yagheeth

جو شخص یہ گمان کرتا ہے کہ اﷲ اپنے (محبوب و برگزیدہ) رسول کی دنیا و آخرت میں ہرگز مدد نہیں کرے گا اسے چاہئے کہ (گھر کی) چھت سے ایک رسی باندھ کر لٹک جائے پھر (خود کو) پھانسی دے لے پھر دیکھے کیا اس کی یہ تدبیر اس (نصرتِ الٰہی) کو دور کر دیتی ہے جس پر غصہ کھا رہا ہے

Whoever should think that Allah will not support [Prophet Muhammad] in this world and the Hereafter - let him extend a rope to the ceiling, then cut off [his breath], and let him see: will his effort remove that which enrages [him]?

وَقَالَ الۡمَلَاُ مِنۡ قَوۡمِهِ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا وَكَذَّبُوۡا بِلِقَآءِ الۡاٰخِرَةِ وَاَتۡرَفۡنٰهُمۡ فِىۡ الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَاۙ مَا هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُكُمۡۙ يَاۡكُلُ مِمَّا تَاۡكُلُوۡنَ مِنۡهُ وَيَشۡرَبُ مِمَّا تَشۡرَبُوۡنَۙ
— Transliteration
Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheenakafaroo wakaththaboo biliqa-i al-akhiratiwaatrafnahum fee alhayati addunyama hatha illa basharun mithlukum ya/kulumimma ta/kuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboon

اور ان کی قوم کے (بھی وہی) سردار (اور وڈیرے) بول اٹھے جو کفر کر رہے تھے اور آخرت کی ملاقات کو جھٹلاتے تھے اور ہم نے انہیں دنیوی زندگی میں (مال و دولت کی کثرت کے باعث) آسودگی (بھی) دے رکھی تھی (لوگوں سے کہنے لگے) کہ یہ شخص تو محض تمہارے ہی جیسا ایک بشر ہے، وہی چیزیں کھاتا ہے جو تم کھاتے ہو اور وہی کچھ پیتا ہے جو تم پیتے ہو

And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink.

And if it had not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy in this world and the Hereafter, you would have been touched for that [lie] in which you were involved by a great punishment

Rather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind.

But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters."

بھلا (یہ مشرک بہتر ہے یا) وہ (مومن) جو رات کی گھڑیوں میں سجود اور قیام کی حالت میں عبادت کرنے والا ہے، آخرت سے ڈرتا رہتا ہے اور اپنے رب کی رحمت کی امید رکھتا ہے، فرما دیجئے: کیا جو لوگ علم رکھتے ہیں اور جو لوگ علم نہیں رکھتے (سب) برابر ہوسکتے ہیں؟ بس نصیحت تو عقل مند لوگ ہی قبول کرتے ہیں

Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.

— Transliteration
Faathaqahumu Allahu alkhizyafee alhayati addunya walaAAathabual-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoon

پس اللہ نے انہیں دنیا کی زندگی میں (ہی) ذِلّت و رسوائی کا مزہ چکھا دیا اور یقیناً آخرت کا عذاب کہیں بڑا ہے، کاش وہ جانتے ہوتے

So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

Wa-itha thukira Allahuwahdahu ishmaazzat quloobu allatheena layu/minoona bil-akhirati wa-itha thukiraallatheena min doonihi itha hum yastabshiroon

اور جب تنہا اللہ ہی کا ذکر کیا جاتا ہے تو اُن لوگوں کے دل گھٹن اور کراہت کا شکار ہو جاتے ہیں جو آخرت پر یقین نہیں رکھتے، اور جب اللہ کے سوا اُن بتوں کا ذکر کیا جاتا ہے (جنہیں وہ پوجتے ہیں) تو وہ اچانک خوش ہو جاتے ہیں

And when Allah is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those [worshipped] other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice.

O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement.

La jarama annama tadAAoonaneeilayhi laysa lahu daAAwatun fee addunya walafee al-akhirati waanna maraddana ila Allahiwaanna almusrifeena hum as-habu annar

سچ تو یہ ہے کہ تم مجھے جس چیز کی طرف بلا رہے ہو وہ نہ تو دنیا میں پکارے جانے کے قابل ہے اور نہ (ہی) آخرت میں اور بے شک ہمارا واپس لوٹنا اللہ ہی کی طرف ہے اور یقیناً حد سے گزرنے والے ہی دوزخی ہیں

Assuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah, and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire.

سو ہم نے اُن پر منحوس دنوں میں خوفناک تیز و تُند آندھی بھیجی تاکہ ہم انہیں دنیوی زندگی میں ذِلت کے عذاب کا مزہ چکھائیں، اور آخرت کا عذاب تو سب سے زیادہ ذِلت انگیز ہوگا اور اُن کی کوئی مدد نہ کی جائے گی

So We sent upon them a screaming wind during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.

Man kana yureedu hartha al-akhiratinazid lahu fee harthihi waman kana yureedu harthaaddunya nu/tihi minha wama lahu feeal-akhirati min naseeb

جو شخص آخرت کی کھیتی چاہتا ہے ہم اُس کے لئے اُس کی کھیتی میں مزید اضافہ فرما دیتے ہیں اور جو شخص دنیا کی کھیتی کا طالب ہوتا ہے (تو) ہم اُس کو اس میں سے کچھ عطا کر دیتے ہیں، پھر اُس کے لئے آخرت میں کچھ حصہ نہیں رہتا

Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter - We increase for him in his harvest. And whoever desires the harvest of this world - We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share.

And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount

Wazukhrufan wa-in kullu thalika lammamataAAu alhayati addunya wal-akhiratuAAinda rabbika lilmuttaqeen

And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.

IAAlamoo annama alhayatuaddunya laAAibun walahwun wazeenatun watafakhurunbaynakum watakathurun fee al-amwali wal-awladikamathali ghaythin aAAjaba alkuffara nabatuhuthumma yaheeju fatarahu musfarran thumma yakoonu hutamanwafee al-akhirati AAathabun shadeedun wamaghfiratunmina Allahi waridwanun wama alhayatuaddunya illa mataAAu alghuroor

جان لو کہ دنیا کی زندگی محض کھیل اور تماشا ہے اور ظاہری آرائش ہے اور آپس میں فخر اور خود ستائی ہے اور ایک دوسرے پر مال و اولاد میں زیادتی کی طلب ہے، اس کی مثال بارش کی سی ہے کہ جس کی پیداوار کسانوں کو بھلی لگتی ہے پھر وہ خشک ہو جاتی ہے پھر تم اسے پک کر زرد ہوتا دیکھتے ہو پھر وہ ریزہ ریزہ ہو جاتی ہے، اور آخرت میں (نافرمانوں کے لئے) سخت عذاب ہے اور (فرمانبرداروں کے لئے) اللہ کی جانب سے مغفرت اور عظیم خوشنودی ہے، اور دنیا کی زندگی دھوکے کی پونجی کے سوا کچھ نہیں ہےo

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tatawallaw qawman ghadiba AllahuAAalayhim qad ya-isoo mina al-akhirati kama ya-isaalkuffaru min as-habi alquboor

اے ایمان والو! ایسے لوگوں سے دوستی مت رکھو جن پر اللہ غضبناک ہوا ہے بیشک وہ آخرت سے (اس طرح) مایوس ہو چکے ہیں جیسے کفار اہلِ قبور سے مایوس ہیںo

O you who have believed, do not make allies of a people with whom Allah has become angry. They have despaired of [reward in] the Hereafter just as the disbelievers have despaired of [meeting] the inhabitants of the graves.
