Wawahabna lahu ishaqawayaAAqooba kullan hadayna wanoohan hadaynamin qablu wamin thurriyyatihi dawooda wasulaymanawaayyooba wayoosufa wamoosa waharoona wakathalikanajzee almuhsineen

And We gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - all [of them] We guided. And Noah, We guided before; and among his descendants, David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the doers of good.

So his Lord responded to him and averted from him their plan. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
ثُمَّ بَدَا لَهُمۡ مِّنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا رَاَوُا الۡاٰيٰتِ لَيَسۡجُنُـنَّهٗ حَتّٰى حِيۡنٍ

Thumma bada lahum min baAAdi maraawoo al-ayati layasjununnahu hatta heen

Then it appeared to them after they had seen the signs that al-'Azeez should surely imprison him for a time.
وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ السِّجۡنَ فَتَيٰنِؕ قَالَ اَحَدُهُمَاۤ اِنِّىۡۤ اَرٰٮنِىۡۤ اَعۡصِرُ خَمۡرًاۚ وَّقَالَ الۡاٰخَرُ اِنِّىۡۤ اَرٰٮنِىۡۤ اَحۡمِلُ فَوۡقَ رَاۡسِىۡ خُبۡزًا تَاۡكُلُ الطَّيۡرُ مِنۡهُؕ نَبِّئۡنَا بِتَاۡوِيۡلِهٖۚ اِنَّا نَرٰٮكَ مِنَ الۡمُحۡسِنِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Wadakhala maAAahu assijna fatayaniqala ahaduhuma innee aranee aAAsirukhamran waqala al-akharu innee aranee ahmilufawqa ra/see khubzan ta/kulu attayru minhu nabbi/nabita/weelihi inna naraka mina almuhsineen

اور ان کے ساتھ دو جوان بھی قید خانہ میں داخل ہوئے۔ ان میں سے ایک نے کہا: میں نے اپنے آپ کو (خواب میں) دیکھا ہے کہ میں (انگور سے) شراب نچوڑ رہا ہوں، اور دوسرے نے کہا: میں نے اپنے آپ کو (خواب میں) دیکھا ہے کہ میں اپنے سر پر روٹیاں اٹھائے ہوئے ہوں، اس میں سے پرندے کھا رہے ہیں۔ (اے یوسف!) ہمیں اس کی تعبیر بتائیے، بیشک ہم آپ کو نیک لوگوں میں سے دیکھ رہے ہیں

And there entered the prison with him two young men. One of them said, "Indeed, I have seen myself [in a dream] pressing wine." The other said, "Indeed, I have seen myself carrying upon my head [some] bread, from which the birds were eating. Inform us of its interpretation; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good."
قَالَ لَا يَاۡتِيۡكُمَا طَعَامٌ تُرۡزَقٰنِهٖۤ اِلَّا نَـبَّاۡتُكُمَا بِتَاۡوِيۡلِهٖ قَبۡلَ اَنۡ يَّاۡتِيَكُمَاؕ ذٰلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِىۡ رَبِّىۡؕ اِنِّىۡ تَرَكۡتُ مِلَّةَ قَوۡمٍ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَهُمۡ بِالۡاٰخِرَةِ هُمۡ كٰفِرُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Qala la ya/teekuma taAAamunturzaqanihi illa nabba/tukuma bita/weelihiqabla an ya/tiyakuma thalikuma mimmaAAallamanee rabbee innee taraktu millata qawmin layu/minoona billahi wahum bil-akhiratihum kafiroon

یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: جو کھانا (روز) تمہیں کھلایا جاتا ہے وہ تمہارے پاس آنے بھی نہ پائے گا کہ میں تم دونوں کو اس کی تعبیر تمہارے پاس اس کے آنے سے قبل بتا دوں گا، یہ (تعبیر) ان علوم میں سے ہے جو میرے رب نے مجھے سکھائے ہیں۔ بیشک میں نے اس قوم کا مذہب (شروع ہی سے) چھوڑ رکھا ہے جو اﷲ پر ایمان نہیں لاتے اور وہ آخرت کے بھی منکر ہیں

He said, "You will not receive food that is provided to you except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you. That is from what my Lord has taught me. Indeed, I have left the religion of a people who do not believe in Allah, and they, in the Hereafter, are disbelievers.
وَاتَّبَعۡتُ مِلَّةَ اٰبَآءِىۡۤ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ وَاِسۡحٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوۡبَؕ مَا كَانَ لَنَاۤ اَنۡ نُّشۡرِكَ بِاللّٰهِ مِنۡ شَىۡءٍؕ ذٰلِكَ مِنۡ فَضۡلِ اللّٰهِ عَلَيۡنَا وَعَلَى النَّاسِ وَلٰـكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
WattabaAAtu millata aba-eeibraheema wa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba ma kanalana an nushrika billahi min shay-in thalikamin fadli Allahi AAalayna waAAala annasiwalakinna akthara annasi layashkuroon

اور میں نے تو اپنے باپ دادا، ابراہیم اور اسحاق اور یعقوب (علیھم السلام) کے دین کی پیروی کر رکھی ہے، ہمیں کوئی حق نہیں کہ ہم کسی چیز کو بھی اﷲ کے ساتھ شریک ٹھہرائیں، یہ (توحید) ہم پر اور لوگوں پر اﷲ کا (خاص) فضل ہے لیکن اکثر لوگ شکر ادا نہیں کرتے

And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And it was not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is from the favor of Allah upon us and upon the people, but most of the people are not grateful.
يٰصَاحِبَىِ السِّجۡنِ ءَاَرۡبَابٌ مُّتَفَرِّقُوۡنَ خَيۡرٌ اَمِ اللّٰهُ الۡوَاحِدُ الۡقَهَّارُؕ

Ya sahibayi assijniaarbabun mutafarriqoona khayrun ami Allahu alwahidualqahhar

O [my] two companions of prison, are separate lords better or Allah, the One, the Prevailing?
مَا تَعۡبُدُوۡنَ مِنۡ دُوۡنِهٖۤ اِلَّاۤ اَسۡمَآءً سَمَّيۡتُمُوۡهَاۤ اَنۡـتُمۡ وَاٰبَآؤُكُمۡ مَّاۤ اَنۡزَلَ اللّٰهُ بِهَا مِنۡ سُلۡطٰنٍؕ اِنِ الۡحُكۡمُ اِلَّا لِلّٰهِؕ اَمَرَ اَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۡۤا اِلَّاۤ اِيَّاهُؕ ذٰلِكَ الدِّيۡنُ الۡقَيِّمُ وَلٰـكِنَّ اَكۡثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Ma taAAbudoona min doonihi illaasmaan sammaytumooha antum waabaokumma anzala Allahu biha min sultaninini alhukmu illa lillahi amara allataAAbudoo illa iyyahu thalika addeenualqayyimu walakinna akthara annasi layaAAlamoon

تم (حقیقت میں) اﷲ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہیں کرتے ہو مگر چند ناموں کی جو خود تم نے اور تمہارے باپ دادا نے (اپنے پاس سے) رکھ لئے ہیں، اﷲ نے ان کی کوئی سند نہیں اتاری۔ حکم کا اختیار صرف اﷲ کو ہے، اسی نے حکم فرمایا ہے کہ تم اس کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرو، یہی سیدھا راستہ (درست دین) ہے لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے

You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. Legislation is not but for Allah. He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.
يٰصَاحِبَىِ السِّجۡنِ اَمَّاۤ اَحَدُكُمَا فَيَسۡقِىۡ رَبَّهٗ خَمۡرًاۚ وَاَمَّا الۡاٰخَرُ فَيُصۡلَبُ فَتَاۡكُلُ الطَّيۡرُ مِنۡ رَّاۡسِهٖؕ قُضِىَ الۡاَمۡرُ الَّذِىۡ فِيۡهِ تَسۡتَفۡتِيٰنِؕ
— Transliteration
Ya sahibayi assijniamma ahadukuma fayasqee rabbahu khamranwaamma al-akharu fayuslabu fata/kulu attayrumin ra/sihi qudiya al-amru allathee feehi tastaftiyan

اے میرے قید خانہ کے دونوں ساتھیو! تم میں سے ایک (کے خواب کی تعبیر یہ ہے کہ وہ) اپنے مربّی (یعنی بادشاہ) کو شراب پلایا کرے گا، اور رہا دوسرا (جس نے سر پر روٹیاں دیکھی ہیں) تو وہ پھانسی دیا جائے گا پھر پرندے اس کے سر سے (گوشت نوچ کر) کھائیں گے، (قطعی) فیصلہ کر دیا گیا جس کے بارے میں تم دریافت کرتے ہو
— English
O two companions of prison, as for one of you, he will give drink to his master of wine; but as for the other, he will be crucified, and the birds will eat from his head. The matter has been decreed about which you both inquire."
وَقَالَ لِلَّذِىۡ ظَنَّ اَنَّهٗ نَاجٍ مِّنۡهُمَا اذۡكُرۡنِىۡ عِنۡدَ رَبِّكَ فَاَنۡسٰٮهُ الشَّيۡطٰنُ ذِكۡرَ رَبِّهٖ فَلَبِثَ فِىۡ السِّجۡنِ بِضۡعَ سِنِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Waqala lillathee thannaannahu najin minhuma othkurnee AAindarabbika faansahu ashshaytanu thikrarabbihi falabitha fee assijni bidAAa sineen

اور یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے اس شخص سے کہا جسے ان دونوں میں سے رہائی پانے والا سمجھا کہ اپنے بادشاہ کے پاس میرا ذکر کر دینا (شاید اسے یاد آجائے کہ ایک اور بے گناہ بھی قید میں ہے) مگر شیطان نے اسے اپنے بادشاہ کے پاس (وہ) ذکر کرنا بھلا دیا نتیجۃً یوسف (علیہ السلام) کئی سال تک قید خانہ میں ٹھہرے رہے

And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, "Mention me before your master." But Satan made him forget the mention [to] his master, and Joseph remained in prison several years.
وَقَالَ الۡمَلِكُ اِنِّىۡۤ اَرٰى سَبۡعَ بَقَرٰتٍ سِمَانٍ يَّاۡكُلُهُنَّ سَبۡعٌ عِجَافٌ وَّسَبۡعَ سُنۡۢبُلٰتٍ خُضۡرٍ وَّاُخَرَ يٰبِسٰتٍؕ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الۡمَلَاُ اَفۡتُوۡنِىۡ فِىۡ رُءۡيَاىَ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ لِلرُّءۡيَا تَعۡبُرُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Waqala almaliku innee arasabAAa baqaratin simanin ya/kuluhunna sabAAun AAijafunwasabAAa sunbulatin khudrin waokhara yabisatinya ayyuha almalao aftoonee fee ru/yaya inkuntum lirru/ya taAAburoon

اور (ایک روز) بادشاہ نے کہا: میں نے (خواب میں) سات موٹی تازی گائیں دیکھی ہیں، انہیں سات دبلی پتلی گائیں کھا رہی ہیں اور سات سبز خوشے (دیکھے) ہیں اور دوسرے (سات ہی) خشک، اے درباریو! مجھے میرے خواب کا جواب بیان کرو اگر تم خواب کی تعبیر جانتے ہو

And [subsequently] the king said, "Indeed, I have seen [in a dream] seven fat cows being eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry. O eminent ones, explain to me my vision, if you should interpret visions."
قَالُوۡۤا اَضۡغَاثُ اَحۡلَامٍۚ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِتَاۡوِيۡلِ الۡاَحۡلَامِ بِعٰلِمِيۡنَ

Qaloo adghathu ahlaminwama nahnu bita/weeli al-ahlami biAAalimeen

They said, "[It is but] a mixture of false dreams, and we are not learned in the interpretation of dreams."

پھر جب وہ (سب اَفرادِ خانہ) یوسف (علیہ السلام) کے پاس آئے (تو) یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے (شہر سے باہر آکر ہزارہا سواریوں، فوجیوں اور لوگوں کے ہمراہ شاہی جلوس کی صورت میں ان کا استقبال کیا اور) اپنے ماں باپ کو تعظیماً اپنے قریب جگہ دی (یا انہیں اپنے گلے سے لگا لیا) اور (خوش آمدید کہتے ہوئے) فرمایا: آپ مصر میں داخل ہو جائیں اگر اﷲ نے چاہا (تو) امن و عافیت کے ساتھ (یہیں قیام کریں)

And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his parents to himself and said, "Enter Egypt, Allah willing, safe [and secure]."
وَرَفَعَ اَبَوَيۡهِ عَلَى الۡعَرۡشِ وَخَرُّوۡا لَهٗ سُجَّدًاۚ وَقَالَ يٰۤاَبَتِ هٰذَا تَاۡوِيۡلُ رُءۡيَاىَ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ قَدۡ جَعَلَهَا رَبِّىۡ حَقًّاؕ وَقَدۡ اَحۡسَنَ بِىۡۤ اِذۡ اَخۡرَجَنِىۡ مِنَ السِّجۡنِ وَجَآءَ بِكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡبَدۡوِ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ اَنۡ نَّزَغَ الشَّيۡطٰنُ بَيۡنِىۡ وَبَيۡنَ اِخۡوَتِىۡؕ اِنَّ رَبِّىۡ لَطِيۡفٌ لِّمَا يَشَآءُؕ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ الۡعَلِيۡمُ الۡحَكِيۡمُ
— Transliteration
WarafaAAa abawayhi AAala alAAarshiwakharroo lahu sujjadan waqala ya abati hathata/weelu ru/yaya min qablu qad jaAAalaha rabbee haqqanwaqad ahsana bee ith akhrajanee mina assijniwajaa bikum mina albadwi min baAAdi an nazagha ashshaytanubaynee wabayna ikhwatee inna rabbee lateefun limayashao innahu huwa alAAaleemu alhakeem

اور یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے اپنے والدین کو اوپر تخت پر بٹھا لیا اور وہ (سب) یوسف (علیہ السلام) کے لئے سجدہ میں گر پڑے، اور یوسف (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: اے ابا جان! یہ میرے (اس) خواب کی تعبیر ہے جو (بہت) پہلے آیا تھا (اکثر مفسرین کے نزدیک اسے چالیس سال کا عرصہ گزر گیا تھا) اور بیشک میرے رب نے اسے سچ کر دکھایا ہے، اور بیشک اس نے مجھ پر (بڑا) احسان فرمایا جب مجھے جیل سے نکالا اور آپ سب کو صحرا سے (یہاں) لے آیا اس کے بعد کہ شیطان نے میرے اور میرے بھائیوں کے درمیان فساد پیدا کر دیا تھا، اور بیشک میرا رب جس چیز کو چاہے (اپنی) تدبیر سے آسان فرما دے، بیشک وہی خوب جاننے والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے

And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration. And he said, "O my father, this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality. And He was certainly good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you [here] from bedouin life after Satan had induced [estrangement] between me and my brothers. Indeed, my Lord is Subtle in what He wills. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.
رَبِّ قَدۡ اٰتَيۡتَنِىۡ مِنَ الۡمُلۡكِ وَعَلَّمۡتَنِىۡ مِنۡ تَاۡوِيۡلِ الۡاَحَادِيۡثِۚ فَاطِرَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ اَنۡتَ وَلِىّٖ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا وَالۡاٰخِرَةِؕ تَوَفَّنِىۡ مُسۡلِمًا وَّاَلۡحِقۡنِىۡ بِالصّٰلِحِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Rabbi qad ataytanee mina almulkiwaAAallamtanee min ta/weeli al-ahadeethi fatira assamawatiwal-ardi anta waliyyee fee addunyawal-akhirati tawaffanee musliman waalhiqneebissaliheen

اے میرے رب! بیشک تو نے مجھے سلطنت عطا فرمائی اور تو نے مجھے خوابوں کی تعبیر کے علم سے نوازا، اے آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا فرمانے والے! تو دنیا میں (بھی) میرا کارساز ہے اور آخرت میں (بھی)، مجھے حالتِ اسلام پر موت دینا اور مجھے صالح لوگوں کے ساتھ ملا دے

My Lord, You have given me [something] of sovereignty and taught me of the interpretation of dreams. Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous."
ذٰلِكَ مِنۡ اَنۡۢبَآءِ الۡغَيۡبِ نُوۡحِيۡهِ اِلَيۡكَۚ وَمَا كُنۡتَ لَدَيۡهِمۡ اِذۡ اَجۡمَعُوۡۤا اَمۡرَهُمۡ وَهُمۡ يَمۡكُرُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Thalika min anba-i alghaybinooheehi ilayka wama kunta ladayhim ithajmaAAoo amrahum wahum yamkuroon

(اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) یہ (قصّہ) غیب کی خبروں میں سے ہے جسے ہم آپ کی طرف وحی فرما رہے ہیں، اور آپ (کوئی) ان کے پاس موجود نہ تھے جب وہ (برادرانِ یوسف) اپنی سازشی تدبیر پر جمع ہو رہے تھے اور وہ مکر و فریب کر رہے تھے

That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal, [O Muhammad], to you. And you were not with them when they put together their plan while they conspired.
وَمَاۤ اَكۡثَرُ النَّاسِ وَلَوۡ حَرَصۡتَ بِمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ

Wama aktharu annasiwalaw harasta bimu/mineen

اور اکثر لوگ ایمان لانے والے نہیں ہیں اگرچہ آپ (کتنی ہی) خواہش کریں

And most of the people, although you strive [for it], are not believers.
وَمَا تَسۡــَٔلُهُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ اَجۡرٍؕ اِنۡ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكۡرٌ لِّـلۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ

Wama tas-aluhum AAalayhi min ajrinin huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameen

اور آپ ان سے اس (دعوت و تبلیغ) پر کوئی صلہ تو نہیں مانگتے، یہ قرآن جملہ جہان والوں کے لئے نصیحت ہی تو ہے

And you do not ask of them for it any payment. It is not except a reminder to the worlds.
وَكَاَيِّنۡ مِّنۡ اٰيَةٍ فِىۡ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ يَمُرُّوۡنَ عَلَيۡهَا وَهُمۡ عَنۡهَا مُعۡرِضُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Wakaayyin min ayatin fee assamawatiwal-ardi yamurroona AAalayha wahum AAanhamuAAridoon

اور آسمانوں اور زمین میں کتنی ہی نشانیاں ہیں جن پر ان لوگوں کا گزر ہوتا رہتا ہے اور وہ ان سے صرفِ نظر کئے ہوئے ہیں

And how many a sign within the heavens and earth do they pass over while they, therefrom, are turning away.

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ يُوۡسُفُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ فَمَا زِلۡتُمۡ فِىۡ شَكٍّ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُمۡ بِهٖؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا هَلَكَ قُلۡتُمۡ لَنۡ يَّبۡعَثَ اللّٰهُ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهٖ رَسُوۡلاً ؕكَذٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنۡ هُوَ مُسۡرِفٌ مُّرۡتَابٌۚ ۖ
— Transliteration
Walaqad jaakum yoosufu min qablu bilbayyinatifama ziltum fee shakkin mimma jaakum bihi hattaitha halaka qultum lan yabAAatha Allahu minbaAAdihi rasoolan kathalika yudillu Allahuman huwa musrifun murtab

اور (اے اہلِ مصر!) بے شک تمہارے پاس اس سے پہلے یوسف (علیہ السلام) واضح نشانیوں کے ساتھ آچکے اور تم ہمیشہ ان (نشانیوں) کے بارے میں شک میں (پڑے) رہے جو وہ تمہارے پاس لائے تھے، یہاں تک کہ جب وہ وفات پا گئے تو تم کہنے لگے کہ اب اللہ ان کے بعد ہرگز کسی رسول کو نہیں بھیجے گا۔ اسی طرح اللہ اس شخص کو گمراہ ٹھہرا دیتا ہے جو حد سے گزرنے والا شک کرنے والا ہو
— English
And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, 'Never will Allah send a messenger after him.' Thus does Allah leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic."
