— Transliteration

Wa-ith akhathna meethaqabanee isra-eela la taAAbudoona illa Allahawabilwalidayni ihsanan watheealqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwaqooloo linnasi husnan waaqeemoo assalatawaatoo azzakata thumma tawallaytum illaqaleelan minkum waantum muAAridoon

اور (یاد کرو) جب ہم نے اولادِ یعقوب سے پختہ وعدہ لیا کہ اللہ کے سوا (کسی اور کی) عبادت نہ کرنا، اور ماں باپ کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرنا اور قرابت داروں اور یتیموں اور محتاجوں کے ساتھ بھی (بھلائی کرنا) اور عام لوگوں سے (بھی نرمی اور خوش خُلقی کے ساتھ) نیکی کی بات کہنا اور نماز قائم رکھنا اور زکوٰۃ دیتے رہنا، پھر تم میں سے چند لوگوں کے سوا سارے (اس عہد سے) رُوگرداں ہو گئے اور تم (حق سے) گریز ہی کرنے والے ہو

— English

And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.

— Transliteration

Waqaloo itakhatha Allahuwaladan subhanahu bal lahu ma fee assamawatiwal-ardi kullun lahu qanitoon

They say, "Allah has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. All are devoutly obedient to Him,

Prescribed for you when death approaches [any] one of you if he leaves wealth [is that he should make] a bequest for the parents and near relatives according to what is acceptable - a duty upon the righteous.

آپ سے پوچھتے ہیں کہ (اﷲ کی راہ میں) کیا خرچ کریں، فرما دیں: جس قدر بھی مال خرچ کرو (درست ہے)، مگر اس کے حق دار تمہارے ماں باپ ہیں اور قریبی رشتہ دار ہیں اور یتیم ہیں اور محتاج ہیں اور مسافر ہیں، اور جو نیکی بھی تم کرتے ہو بیشک اﷲ اسے خوب جاننے والا ہے

They ask you, [O Muhammad], what they should spend. Say, "Whatever you spend of good is [to be] for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveler. And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it."

Walwalidatu yurdiAAnaawladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman aradaan yutimma arradaAAata waAAala almawloodilahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bilmaAAroofi latukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarrawalidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahubiwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalikafa-in arada fisalan AAan taradinminhuma watashawurin fala junahaAAalayhima wa-in aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakumfala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum maataytum bilmaAAroofi wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseer

اور مائیں اپنے بچوں کو پورے دو برس تک دودھ پلائیں یہ (حکم) اس کے لئے ہے جو دودھ پلانے کی مدت پوری کرنا چاہے، اور دودھ پلانے والی ماؤں کا کھانا اور پہننا دستور کے مطابق بچے کے باپ پر لازم ہے، کسی جان کو اس کی طاقت سے بڑھ کر تکلیف نہ دی جائے، (اور) نہ ماں کو اس کے بچے کے باعث نقصان پہنچایا جائے اور نہ باپ کو اس کی اولاد کے سبب سے، اور وارثوں پر بھی یہی حکم عائد ہوگا، پھر اگر ماں باپ دونوں باہمی رضا مندی اور مشورے سے (دو برس سے پہلے ہی) دودھ چھڑانا چاہیں تو ان پر کوئی گناہ نہیں، اور پھر اگر تم اپنی اولاد کو (دایہ سے) دودھ پلوانے کا ارادہ رکھتے ہو تب بھی تم پر کوئی گناہ نہیں جب کہ جو تم دستور کے مطابق دیتے ہو انہیں ادا کر دو، اور اﷲ سے ڈرتے رہو اور یہ جان لو کہ بیشک جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو اﷲ اسے خوب دیکھنے والا ہے

Mothers may breastfeed their children two complete years for whoever wishes to complete the nursing [period]. Upon the father is the mothers' provision and their clothing according to what is acceptable. No person is charged with more than his capacity. No mother should be harmed through her child, and no father through his child. And upon the [father's] heir is [a duty] like that [of the father]. And if they both desire weaning through mutual consent from both of them and consultation, there is no blame upon either of them. And if you wish to have your children nursed by a substitute, there is no blame upon you as long as you give payment according to what is acceptable. And fear Allah and know that Allah is Seeing of what you do.

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا لَنۡ تُغۡنِىَ عَنۡهُمۡ اَمۡوَالُهُمۡ وَلَاۤ اَوۡلَادُهُمۡ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ شَيۡـئًا ؕ وَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمۡ وَقُوۡدُ النَّارِۙ‏ 

— Transliteration

Inna allatheena kafaroo lan tughniyaAAanhum amwaluhum wala awladuhum mina Allahishay-an waola-ika hum waqoodu annar

بیشک جنہوں نے کفر کیا نہ ان کے مال انہیں اﷲ (کے عذاب) سے کچھ بھی بچا سکیں گے اور نہ ان کی اولاد، اور وہی لوگ دوزخ کا ایندھن ہیں

Indeed, those who disbelieve - never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all. And it is they who are fuel for the Fire.

قَالَتۡ رَبِّ اَنّٰى يَكُوۡنُ لِىۡ وَلَدٌ وَّلَمۡ يَمۡسَسۡنِىۡ بَشَرٌ‌ؕ قَالَ كَذٰلِكِ اللّٰهُ يَخۡلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ‌ؕ اِذَا قَضٰٓى اَمۡرًا فَاِنَّمَا يَقُوۡلُ لَهٗ كُنۡ فَيَكُوۡنُ‏ 

— Transliteration

Qalat rabbi anna yakoonu leewaladun walam yamsasnee basharun qala kathaliki Allahuyakhluqu ma yashao itha qada amranfa-innama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoon

(مریم علیہا السلام نے) عرض کیا: اے میرے رب! میرے ہاں کیسے لڑکا ہوگا درآنحالیکہ مجھے تو کسی شخص نے ہاتھ تک نہیں لگایا، ارشاد ہوا: اسی طرح اﷲ جو چاہتا ہے پیدا فرماتا ہے، جب کسی کام (کے کرنے) کا فیصلہ فرما لیتا ہے تو اس سے فقط اتنا فرماتا ہے کہ ’ہو جا‘ وہ ہو جاتا ہے

She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is Allah; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.

یقینا جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا ہے نہ ان کے مال انہیں اللہ (کے عذاب) سے کچھ بھی بچا سکیں گے اور نہ ان کی اولاد، اور وہی لوگ جہنمی ہیں، جو اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے

— English

Indeed, those who disbelieve - never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.

مردوں کے لئے اس (مال) میں سے حصہ ہے جو ماں باپ اور قریبی رشتہ داروں نے چھوڑا ہو اور عورتوں کے لئے (بھی) ماں باپ اور قریبی رشتہ داروں کے ترکہ میں سے حصہ ہے۔ وہ ترکہ تھوڑا ہو یا زیادہ (اللہ کا) مقرر کردہ حصہ ہے

— English

For men is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, and for women is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, be it little or much - an obligatory share.

Yooseekumu Allahu fee awladikumliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni fa-in kunna nisaan fawqa ithnatayni falahunnathulutha ma taraka wa-in kanat wahidatanfalaha annisfu wali-abawayhi likulli wahidinminhuma assudusu mimma taraka in kanalahu waladun fa-in lam yakun lahu waladun wawarithahu abawahufali-ommihi aththuluthu fa-in kana lahu ikhwatunfali-ommihi assudusu min baAAdi wasiyyatin yooseebiha aw daynin abaokum waabnaokum latadroona ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafAAan fareedatan mina Allahiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema

Urdu —

اللہ تمہیں تمہاری اولاد (کی وراثت) کے بارے میں حکم دیتا ہے کہ لڑکے کے لئے دو لڑکیوں کے برابر حصہ ہے، پھر اگر صرف لڑکیاں ہی ہوں (دو یا) دو سے زائد تو ان کے لئے اس ترکہ کا دو تہائی حصہ ہے، اور اگر وہ اکیلی ہو تو اس کے لئے آدھا ہے، اور مُورِث کے ماں باپ کے لئے ان دونوں میں سے ہر ایک کو ترکہ کا چھٹا حصہ (ملے گا) بشرطیکہ مُورِث کی کوئی اولاد ہو، پھر اگر اس میت (مُورِث) کی کوئی اولاد نہ ہو اور اس کے وارث صرف اس کے ماں باپ ہوں تو اس کی ماں کے لئے تہائی ہے (اور باقی سب باپ کا حصہ ہے)، پھر اگر مُورِث کے بھائی بہن ہوں تو اس کی ماں کے لئے چھٹا حصہ ہے (یہ تقسیم) اس وصیت (کے پورا کرنے) کے بعد جو اس نے کی ہو یا قرض (کی ادائیگی) کے بعد (ہو گی)، تمہارے باپ اور تمہارے بیٹے تمہیں معلوم نہیں کہ فائدہ پہنچانے میں ان میں سے کون تمہارے قریب تر ہے، یہ (تقسیم) اللہ کی طرف سے فریضہ (یعنی مقرر) ہے، بیشک اللہ خوب جاننے والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے

— English

Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females. But if there are [only] daughters, two or more, for them is two thirds of one's estate. And if there is only one, for her is half. And for one's parents, to each one of them is a sixth of his estate if he left children. But if he had no children and the parents [alone] inherit from him, then for his mother is one third. And if he had brothers [or sisters], for his mother is a sixth, after any bequest he [may have] made or debt. Your parents or your children - you know not which of them are nearest to you in benefit. [These shares are] an obligation [imposed] by Allah. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.

اور تمہارے لئے اس (مال) کا آدھا حصہ ہے جو تمہاری بیویاں چھوڑ جائیں بشرطیکہ ان کی کوئی اولاد نہ ہو، پھر اگر ان کی کوئی اولاد ہو تو تمہارے لئے ان کے ترکہ سے چوتھائی ہے (یہ بھی) اس وصیت (کے پورا کرنے) کے بعد جو انہوں نے کی ہو یا قرض (کی ادائیگی) کے بعد، اور تمہاری بیویوں کا تمہارے چھوڑے ہوئے (مال) میں سے چوتھا حصہ ہے بشرطیکہ تمہاری کوئی اولاد نہ ہو، پھر اگر تمہاری کوئی اولاد ہو تو ان کے لئے تمہارے ترکہ میں سے آٹھواں حصہ ہے تمہاری اس (مال) کی نسبت کی ہوئی وصیت (پوری کرنے) یا (تمہارے) قرض کی ادائیگی کے بعد، اور اگر کسی ایسے مرد یا عورت کی وراثت تقسیم کی جا رہی ہو جس کے نہ ماں باپ ہوں نہ کوئی اولاد اور اس کا (ماں کی طرف سے) ایک بھائی یا ایک بہن ہو (یعنی اخیافی بھائی یا بہن) تو ان دونوں میں سے ہر ایک کے لئے چھٹا حصہ ہے، پھر اگر وہ بھائی بہن ایک سے زیادہ ہوں تو سب ایک تہائی میں شریک ہوں گے (یہ تقسیم بھی) اس وصیت کے بعد (ہو گی) جو (وارثوں کو) نقصان پہنچائے بغیر کی گئی ہو یا قرض (کی ادائیگی) کے بعد، یہ اللہ کی طرف سے حکم ہے، اور اللہ خوب علم و حلم والا ہے

— English

And for you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, for you is one fourth of what they leave, after any bequest they [may have] made or debt. And for the wives is one fourth if you leave no child. But if you leave a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt. And if a man or woman leaves neither ascendants nor descendants but has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is a sixth. But if they are more than two, they share a third, after any bequest which was made or debt, as long as there is no detriment [caused]. [This is] an ordinance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing and Forbearing.

اور ہم نے سب کے لئے ماں باپ اور قریبی رشتہ داروں کے چھوڑے ہوئے مال میں حق دار (یعنی وارث) مقرر کر دیئے ہیں، اور جن سے تمہارا معاہدہ ہو چکا ہے سو اُنہیں ان کا حصہ دے دو، بیشک اللہ ہر چیز کا مشاہدہ فرمانے والا ہے

And for all, We have made heirs to what is left by parents and relatives. And to those whom your oaths have bound [to you] - give them their share. Indeed Allah is ever, over all things, a Witness.

— Transliteration

WaAAbudoo Allaha walatushrikoo bihi shay-an wabilwalidayni ihsananwabithee alqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwaljari thee alqurba waljarialjunubi wassahibi biljanbi wabniassabeeli wama malakat aymanukum inna Allahala yuhibbu man kana mukhtalan fakhoora

اور تم اللہ کی عبادت کرو اور اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراؤ اور ماں باپ کے ساتھ بھلائی کرو اور رشتہ داروں اور یتیموں اور محتاجوں (سے) اور نزدیکی ہمسائے اور اجنبی پڑوسی اور ہم مجلس اور مسافر (سے)، اور جن کے تم مالک ہو چکے ہو، (ان سے نیکی کیا کرو)، بیشک اللہ اس شخص کو پسند نہیں کرتا جو تکبرّ کرنے والا (مغرور) فخر کرنے والا (خود بین) ہو

— English

Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.

Wama lakum la tuqatiloonafee sabeeli Allahi walmustadAAafeena mina arrijaliwannisa-i walwildani allatheenayaqooloona rabbana akhrijna min hathihialqaryati aththalimi ahluhawajAAal lana min ladunka waliyyan wajAAallana min ladunka naseera

اور (مسلمانو!) تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں (مظلوموں کی آزادی کے لئے) جنگ نہیں کرتے حالاں کہ کم زور، مظلوم اور مقہور مرد، عورتیں اور بچے (ظلم و ستم سے تنگ آ کر اپنی آزادی کے لئے) پکارتے ہیں: اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں اس بستی سے نکال لے جہاں کے (وڈیرے) لوگ ظالم ہیں، اور کسی کو اپنی بارگاہ سے ہمارا کارساز مقرر فرما دے، اور کسی کو اپنی بارگاہ سے ہمارا مددگار بنا دے

— English

And what is [the matter] with you that you fight not in the cause of Allah and [for] the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, "Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper?"

— Transliteration

Wayastaftoonaka fee annisa-iquli Allahu yufteekum feehinna wama yutlaAAalaykum fee alkitabi fee yatama annisa-iallatee la tu/toonahunna ma kutiba lahunnawatarghaboona an tankihoohunna walmustadAAafeenamina alwildani waan taqoomoo lilyatama bilqistiwama tafAAaloo min khayrin fa-inna Allaha kanabihi AAaleema

And whatever

then indeed,

تو بیشک

Allah

about it

All-Knowing

جاننے والا

Urdu —

اور (اے پیغمبر!) لوگ آپ سے (یتیم) عورتوں کے بارے میں فتویٰ پوچھتے ہیں۔ آپ فرما دیں کہ اللہ تمہیں ان کے بارے میں حکم دیتا ہے اور جو حکم تم کو (پہلے سے) کتابِ مجید میں سنایا جا رہا ہے (وہ بھی) ان یتیم عورتوں ہی کے بارے میں ہے جنہیں تم وہ (حقوق) نہیں دیتے جو ان کے لئے مقرر کئے گئے ہیں اور چاہتے ہو کہ (ان کا مال قبضے میں لینے کی خاطر) ان کے ساتھ خود نکاح کر لو اور نیز بے بس بچوں کے بارے میں (بھی حکم) ہے کہ یتیموں کے معاملے میں انصاف پر قائم رہا کرو، اور تم جو بھلائی بھی کروگے تو بیشک اللہ اسے خوب جاننے والا ہےo

— English

And they request from you, [O Muhammad], a [legal] ruling concerning women. Say, "Allah gives you a ruling about them and [about] what has been recited to you in the Book concerning the orphan girls to whom you do not give what is decreed for them - and [yet] you desire to marry them - and concerning the oppressed among children and that you maintain for orphans [their rights] in justice." And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is ever Knowing of it.

— Transliteration

Ya ahla alkitabi lataghloo fee deenikum wala taqooloo AAala Allahiilla alhaqqa innama almaseehu AAeesaibnu maryama rasoolu Allahi wakalimatuhu alqahaila maryama waroohun minhu faaminoo billahiwarusulihi wala taqooloo thalathatun intahookhayran lakum innama Allahu ilahun wahidunsubhanahu an yakoona lahu waladun lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakafa billahiwakeela

ایک

Glory be to Him

پاک ہے وہ

He (should) have

for Him

اس کے لیے

a son

کوئی بیٹا

To Him (belongs)

اس کے لیے ہے

whatever

جو

(is) in

l-samāwāti

the heavens

آسمانوں (میں ہے)

wamā

and whatever

اور جو

the earth

زمین (میں ہے)

And is sufficient

اور کافی ہے

Allah

wakīlan

(as) a Disposer of affairs

کارساز

Urdu —

اے اہلِ کتاب! تم اپنے دین میں حد سے زائد نہ بڑھو اور اﷲ کی شان میں سچ کے سوا کچھ نہ کہو، حقیقت صرف یہ ہے کہ مسیح عیسٰی ابن مریم (علیہما السلام) اﷲ کا رسول اور اس کا کلمہ ہے جسے اس نے مریم کی طرف پہنچا دیا اور اس (کی طرف) سے ایک روح ہے۔ پس تم اﷲ اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لاؤ اور مت کہو کہ (معبود) تین ہیں، (اس عقیدہ سے) باز آجاؤ، (یہ) تمہارے لئے بہتر ہے۔ بیشک اﷲ ہی یکتا معبود ہے، وہ اس سے پاک ہے کہ اس کے لئے کوئی اولاد ہو، (سب کچھ) اسی کا ہے جو کچھ آسمانوں میں ہے اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے، اور اﷲ کا کارساز ہونا کافی ہےo

— English

O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

— Transliteration

Yastaftoonaka quli Allahu yufteekumfee alkalalati ini imruon halaka laysa lahu waladun walahuokhtun falaha nisfu ma taraka wahuwayarithuha in lam yakun laha waladun fa-in kanataithnatayni falahuma aththuluthani mimmataraka wa-in kanoo ikhwatan rijalan wanisaanfaliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni yubayyinu Allahu lakum an tadilloo wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem

(is) All-Knower

جاننے والا ہے

Urdu —

لوگ آپ سے فتویٰ (یعنی شرعی حکم) دریافت کرتے ہیں۔ فرما دیجئے کہ اﷲ تمہیں (بغیر اولاد اور بغیر والدین کے فوت ہونے والے) کلالہ (کی وراثت) کے بارے میں یہ حکم دیتا ہے کہ اگر کوئی ایسا شخص فوت ہو جائے جو بے اولاد ہو مگر اس کی ایک بہن ہو تو اس کے لئے اس (مال) کا آدھا (حصہ) ہے جو اس نے چھوڑا ہے، اور (اگر اس کے برعکس بہن کلالہ ہو تو اس کے مرنے کی صورت میں اس کا) بھائی اس (بہن) کا وارث (کامل) ہوگا اگر اس (بہن) کی کوئی اولاد نہ ہو، پھر اگر (کلالہ بھائی کی موت پر) دو (بہنیں وارث) ہوں تو ان کے لئے اس (مال) کا دو تہائی (حصہ) ہے جو اس نے چھوڑا ہے، اور اگر (بصورتِ کلالہ مرحوم کے) چند بھائی بہن مرد (بھی) اور عورتیں (بھی وارث) ہوں تو پھر (ہر) ایک مرد کا (حصہ) دو عورتوں کے حصہ کے برابر ہوگا۔ (یہ احکام) اﷲ تمہارے لئے کھول کر بیان فرما رہا ہے تاکہ تم بھٹکتے نہ پھرو، اور اﷲ ہر چیز کو خوب جاننے والا ہے

— English

They request from you a [legal] ruling. Say, "Allah gives you a ruling concerning one having neither descendants nor ascendants [as heirs]." If a man dies, leaving no child but [only] a sister, she will have half of what he left. And he inherits from her if she [dies and] has no child. But if there are two sisters [or more], they will have two-thirds of what he left. If there are both brothers and sisters, the male will have the share of two females. Allah makes clear to you [His law], lest you go astray. And Allah is Knowing of all things.

‌اِذۡ قَالَ اللّٰهُ يٰعِيۡسَى ابۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ اذۡكُرۡ نِعۡمَتِىۡ عَلَيۡكَ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَتِكَ‌ۘ اِذۡ اَيَّدتُّكَ بِرُوۡحِ الۡقُدُسِ تُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِىۡ الۡمَهۡدِ وَكَهۡلاً‌ ‌ۚوَاِذۡ عَلَّمۡتُكَ الۡـكِتٰبَ وَالۡحِكۡمَةَ وَالتَّوۡرٰٮةَ وَالۡاِنۡجِيۡلَ‌ۚ وَاِذۡ تَخۡلُقُ مِنَ الطِّيۡنِ كَهَيۡـَٔـةِ الطَّيۡرِ بِاِذۡنِىۡ فَتَنۡفُخُ فِيۡهَا فَتَكُوۡنُ طَيۡرًۢا بِاِذۡنِىۡ‌ وَتُبۡرِئُ الۡاَكۡمَهَ وَالۡاَبۡرَصَ بِاِذۡنِىۡ‌ۚ وَاِذۡ تُخۡرِجُ الۡمَوۡتٰى بِاِذۡنِىۡ‌ۚ وَاِذۡ كَفَفۡتُ بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرآءِيۡلَ عَنۡكَ اِذۡ جِئۡتَهُمۡ بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ فَقَالَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ اِنۡ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا سِحۡرٌ مُّبِيۡنٌ‏ 

— Transliteration

اور اڈھیر عمر میں

And when

ʿallamtuka

I taught you

میں نے سکھائی تجھ کو

the Book

کتاب

wal-ḥik'mata

and the wisdom

اور حکمت

wal-tawrāta

and the Taurat

اور تورات

wal-injīla

and the Injeel;

اور انجیل

wa-idh

and when

اور جب

takhluqu

you make

تو بناتا تھا۔ تو تخلیق کرتا تھا

mina

from

سے

l-ṭīni

the clay

مٹی

kahayati

like the shape

مانند شکل

l-ṭayri

(of) the bird

bi-idh'nī

by My permission

ساتھ میرے اذ ن کے

fatanfukhu

then you breath

پھر تو پھونک مارتا تھا

fīhā

into it

اس میں

fatakūnu

and it becomes

پھر وہ ہوجاتا

ṭayran

a bird

پرندہ

bi-idh'nī

by My permission

ساتھ میرے اذن کے

watub'ri-u

and you heal

اور تو تندرست کرتا تھا

l-akmaha

the born blind

مادرزاد اندھے کو

wal-abraṣa

and the leper

اور برص والے کو

bi-idh'nī

by My permission

ساتھ میرے اذن کے

wa-idh

and when

اور جب

tukh'riju

you bring forth

تو نکالتا تھا

l-mawtā

the dead

مردہ کو

bi-idh'nī

by My permission

ساتھ میرے اذن کے

wa-idh

And when

اور جب

kafaftu

I restrained

روکا میں نے

(the) Children

بنی

is'rāīla

(of) Israel

اسرائیل کو

ʿanka

from you

تجھ سے

when

ji'tahum

you came to them

لایا تو ان کے پاس

bil-bayināti

with the clear proofs

روشن نشانیاں

faqāla

then said

alladhīna

those who

ان لوگوں نے

kafarū

disbelieved

جنہوں نے کفر کیا

min'hum

among them

ان میں سے

Urdu —

جب اللہ فرمائے گا: اے عیسٰی ابن مریم! تم اپنے اوپر اور اپنی والدہ پر میرا احسان یاد کرو جب میں نے پاک روح (جبرائیل) کے ذریعے تمہیں تقویت بخشی، تم گہوارے میں (بعہدِ طفولیت) اور پختہ عمری میں (بعہدِ تبلیغ و رسالت یکساں انداز سے) لوگوں سے گفتگو کرتے تھے، اور جب میں نے تمہیں کتاب اور حکمت (و دانائی) اور تورات اور انجیل سکھائی، اور جب تم میرے حکم سے مٹی کے گارے سے پرندے کی شکل کی مانند (مورتی) بناتے تھے پھر تم اس میں پھونک مارتے تھے تو وہ (مورتی) میرے حکم سے پرندہ بن جاتی تھی، اور جب تم مادر زاد اندھوں اور کوڑھیوں (یعنی برص زدہ مریضوں) کو میرے حکم سے اچھا کر دیتے تھے، اور جب تم میرے حکم سے مُردوں کو (زندہ کر کے قبر سے) نکال (کھڑا کر) دیتے تھے، اور جب میں نے بنی اسرائیل کو تمہارے (قتل) سے روک دیا تھا جب کہ تم ان کے پاس واضح نشانیاں لے کر آئے تو ان میں سے کافروں نے (یہ) کہہ دیا کہ یہ تو کھلے جادو کے سوا کچھ نہیں

— English

[The Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, remember My favor upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Pure Spirit and you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and [remember] when I taught you writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and when you designed from clay [what was] like the form of a bird with My permission, then you breathed into it, and it became a bird with My permission; and you healed the blind and the leper with My permission; and when you brought forth the dead with My permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from [killing] you when you came to them with clear proofs and those who disbelieved among them said, "This is not but obvious magic."

[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion and He created all things? And He is, of all things, Knowing.

Wakathalika zayyana likatheerin minaalmushrikeena qatla awladihim shurakaohumliyurdoohum waliyalbisoo AAalayhim deenahum walaw shaa Allahuma faAAaloohu fatharhum wama yaftaroon

اور تاکہ مشتبہ کردیں

ʿalayhim

to them

ان پر

dīnahum

their religion

ان کے دین کو

walaw

And if

اور اگر

shāa

(had) willed

چاہتا

l-lahu

Allah

اللہ

mā

**they (would) not have done so.

نہ

faʿalūhu

(would) they have done so

وہ کرتے اس کو

fadharhum

So leave them

پس چھوڑ دو انہیں

wamā

and what

اور جو

yaftarūna

they invent

کچھ وہ گھڑتے ہیں

اور اسی طرح بہت سے مشرکوں کے لئے ان کے شریکوں نے اپنی اولاد کو مار ڈالنا (ان کی نگاہ میں) خوش نما کر دکھایا ہے تاکہ وہ انہیں برباد کر ڈالیں اور ان کے (بچے کھچے) دین کو (بھی) ان پر مشتبہ کر دیں، اور اگر اﷲ (انہیں جبراً روکنا) چاہتا تو وہ ایسا نہ کر پاتے پس آپ انہیں اور جو افترا پردازی وہ کر رہے ہیں (اسے نظرانداز کرتے ہوئے) چھوڑ دیجئے

And likewise, to many of the polytheists their partners have made [to seem] pleasing the killing of their children in order to bring about their destruction and to cover them with confusion in their religion. And if Allah had willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and that which they invent.

Qad khasira allatheena qataloo awladahumsafahan bighayri AAilmin waharramoo ma razaqahumuAllahu iftiraan AAala Allahi qad dalloowama kanoo muhtadeen

وہ بھٹک گئے

and not

اور نہ

they are

تھے

muh'tadīna

guided-ones

وہ ہدایت پانے والے

Urdu —

واقعی ایسے لوگ برباد ہوگئے جنہوں نے اپنی اولاد کو بغیر علمِ (صحیح) کے (محض) بیوقوفی سے قتل کر ڈالا اور ان (چیزوں) کو جو اﷲ نے انہیں (روزی کے طور پر) بخشی تھیں اﷲ پر بہتان باندھتے ہوئے حرام کر ڈالا، بیشک وہ گمراہ ہو گئے اور ہدایت یافتہ نہ ہو سکے

— English

Those will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allah had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allah. They have gone astray and were not [rightly] guided.

Qul taAAalaw atlu ma harramarabbukum AAalaykum alla tushrikoo bihi shay-an wabilwalidayniihsanan wala taqtuloo awladakum minimlaqin nahnu narzuqukum wa-iyyahum walataqraboo alfawahisha ma thahara minhawama batana wala taqtuloo annafsaallatee harrama Allahu illa bilhaqqithalikum wassakum bihi laAAallakum taAAqiloon

has (been) forbidden

by (legal) right

(He) has enjoined on you

وصیت کرتا ہے وہ تمہیں

تاکہ تم

تم عقل سے کام لو

Urdu —

فرما دیجئے: آؤ میں وہ چیزیں پڑھ کر سنا دوں جو تمہارے رب نے تم پر حرام کی ہیں (وہ) یہ کہ تم اس کے ساتھ کسی چیز کو شریک نہ ٹھہراؤ اور ماں باپ کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرو، اور مفلسی کے باعث اپنی اولاد کو قتل مت کرو۔ ہم ہی تمہیں رزق دیتے ہیں اور انہیں بھی (دیں گے)، اور بے حیائی کے کاموں کے قریب نہ جاؤ (خواہ) وہ ظاہر ہوں اور (خواہ) وہ پوشیدہ ہوں، اور اس جان کو قتل نہ کرو جسے (قتل کرنا) اﷲ نے حرام کیا ہے بجز حقِ (شرعی) کے، یہی وہ (امور) ہیں جن کا اس نے تمہیں تاکیدی حکم دیا ہے تاکہ تم عقل سے کام لو

— English

Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."

اور جان لو کہ تمہارے اموال اور تمہاری اولاد تو بس فتنہ ہی ہیں اور یہ کہ اللہ ہی کے پاس اجرِ عظیم ہے

And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allah has with Him a great reward.

At-TawbaThe Repentance009surahتوبہ

فَلَا تُعۡجِبۡكَ اَمۡوَالُهُمۡ وَلَاۤ اَوۡلَادُهُمۡ‌ اِنَّمَا يُرِيۡدُ اللّٰهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمۡ بِهَا فِى الۡحَيٰوةِ الدُّنۡيَا وَتَزۡهَقَ اَنۡفُسُهُمۡ وَهُمۡ كٰفِرُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Fala tuAAjibka amwaluhum walaawladuhum innama yureedu Allahu liyuAAaththibahumbiha fee alhayati addunyawatazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroon

and should depart

اور نکلیں

anfusuhum

their souls

ان کی جانیں

wahum

while they

اس حال میں کہ وہ

kāfirūna

(are) disbelievers

کافر ہوں

Urdu —

سو آپ کو نہ (تو) ان کے اموال تعجب میں ڈالیں اور نہ ہی ان کی اولاد۔ بس اللہ تو یہ چاہتا ہے کہ انہیں انہی (چیزوں) کی وجہ سے دنیوی زندگی میں عذاب دے اور ان کی جانیں اس حال میں نکلیں کہ وہ کافر ہوں

— English

So let not their wealth or their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in worldly life and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers.

Kallatheena min qablikum kanooashadda minkum quwwatan waakthara amwalan waawladanfastamtaAAoo bikhalaqihim fastamtaAAtumbikhalaqikum kama istamtaAAa allatheena minqablikum bikhalaqihim wakhudtum kallatheekhadoo ola-ika habitat aAAmaluhumfee addunya wal-akhirati waola-ikahumu alkhasiroon

ضائع ہوگئے

and (in) the Hereafter

اور آخرت میں

And those,

اور یہی لوگ

جو خسارہ پانے والے ہیں

(اے منافقو! تم) ان لوگوں کی مثل ہو جو تم سے پہلے تھے۔ وہ تم سے بہت زیادہ طاقتور اور مال و اولاد میں کہیں زیادہ بڑھے ہوئے تھے۔ پس وہ اپنے (دنیوی) حصے سے فائدہ اٹھا چکے سو تم (بھی) اپنے حصے سے (اسی طرح) فائدہ اٹھا رہے ہو جیسے تم سے پہلے لوگوں نے (لذّتِ دنیا کے) اپنے مقررہ حصے سے فائدہ اٹھایا تھا نیز تم (بھی اسی طرح) باطل میں داخل اور غلطاں ہو جیسے وہ باطل میں داخل اور غلطاں تھے۔ ان لوگوں کے اعمال دنیا اور آخرت میں برباد ہو گئے اور وہی لوگ خسارے میں ہیں

[You disbelievers are] like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion [of worldly enjoyment], and you have enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion, and you have engaged [in vanities] like that in which they engaged. [It is] those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and in the Hereafter, and it is they who are the losers.

Wala tuAAjibka amwaluhum waawladuhuminnama yureedu Allahu an yuAAaththibahum bihafee addunya watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroon

اور ان کے مال اور ان کی اولاد آپ کو تعجب میں نہ ڈالیں۔ اللہ فقط یہ چاہتا ہے کہ ان چیزوں کے ذریعے انہیں دنیا میں (بھی) عذاب دے اور ان کی جانیں اس حال میں نکلیں کہ وہ کافر (ہی) ہوں

And let not their wealth and their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in this world and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers.

They have said, "Allah has taken a son." Exalted is He; He is the [one] Free of need. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. You have no authority for this [claim]. Do you say about Allah that which you do not know?

She said, "Woe to me! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Indeed, this is an amazing thing!"

— Transliteration

Waqala allathee ishtarahumin misra limraatihi akrimee mathwahu AAasaan yanfaAAana aw nattakhithahu waladan wakathalikamakkanna liyoosufa fee al-ardi walinuAAallimahu minta/weeli al-ahadeethi wallahu ghalibunAAala amrihi walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon

اور مصر کے جس شخص نے اسے خریدا تھا (اس کا نام قطفیر تھا اور وہ بادشاہِ مصر ریان بن ولید کا وزیر خزانہ تھا اسے عرف عام میں عزیزِ مصر کہتے تھے) اس نے اپنی بیوی (زلیخا) سے کہا: اسے عزت و اکرام سے ٹھہراؤ! شاید یہ ہمیں نفع پہنچائے یا ہم اسے بیٹا بنا لیں، اور اس طرح ہم نے یوسف (علیہ السلام) کو زمین (مصر) میں استحکام بخشا اور یہ اس لئے کہ ہم اسے باتوں کے انجام تک پہنچنا (یعنی علمِ تعبیرِ رؤیا) سکھائیں، اور اﷲ اپنے کام پر غالب ہے لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے

And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, "Make his residence comfortable. Perhaps he will benefit us, or we will adopt him as a son." And thus, We established Joseph in the land that We might teach him the interpretation of events. And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.

— Transliteration

Waqada rabbuka alla taAAbudooilla iyyahu wabilwalidayni ihsananimma yablughanna AAindaka alkibara ahaduhumaaw kilahuma fala taqul lahuma offinwala tanharhuma waqul lahuma qawlan kareema

اور آپ کے رب نے حکم فرما دیا ہے کہ تم اﷲ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت مت کرو اور والدین کے ساتھ حسنِ سلوک کیا کرو، اگر تمہارے سامنے دونوں میں سے کوئی ایک یا دونوں بڑھاپے کو پہنچ جائیں تو انہیں ”اُف“ بھی نہ کہنا اور انہیں جھڑکنا بھی نہیں اور ان دونوں کے ساتھ بڑے ادب سے بات کیا کرو

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

Wala taqtuloo awladakumkhashyata imlaqin nahnu narzuquhum wa-iyyakuminna qatlahum kana khit-an kabeera

And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin.

— Transliteration

Wastafziz mani istataAAtaminhum bisawtika waajlib AAalayhim bikhaylika warajlikawasharik-hum fee al-amwali wal-awladiwaAAidhum wama yaAAiduhumu ashshaytanu illaghuroora

اور جس پر بھی تیرا بس چل سکتا ہے تو (اسے) اپنی آواز سے ڈگمگا لے اور ان پر اپنی (فوج کے) سوار اور پیادہ دستوں کو چڑھا دے اور ان کے مال و اولاد میں ان کا شریک بن جا اور ان سے (جھوٹے) وعدے کر، اور ان سے شیطان دھوکہ و فریب کے سوا (کوئی) وعدہ نہیں کرتا

And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Satan does not promise them except delusion.

Waquli alhamdu lillahi allatheelam yattakhith waladan walam yakun lahu shareekun feealmulki walam yakun lahu waliyyun mina aththulliwakabbirhu takbeera

اور فرمائیے کہ سب تعریفیں اﷲ ہی کے لئے ہیں جس نے نہ تو (اپنے لئے) کوئی بیٹا بنایا اور نہ ہی (اس کی) سلطنت و فرمانروائی میں کوئی شریک ہے اور نہ کمزوری کے باعث اس کا کوئی مددگار ہے (اے حبیب!) آپ اسی کو بزرگ تر جان کر اس کی خوب بڑائی (بیان) کرتے رہئے

And say, "Praise to Allah, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with [great] glorification."

اور جب تو اپنے باغ میں داخل ہوا تو تو نے کیوں نہیں کہا: ”ما شاء اﷲ لا قوۃ اِلا باﷲ“ (وہی ہونا ہے جو اﷲ چاہے کسی کو کچھ طاقت نہیں مگر اﷲ کی مدد سے)، اگر تو (اِس وقت) مجھے مال و اولاد میں اپنے سے کم تر دیکھتا ہے (تو کیا ہوا)

And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah '? Although you see me less than you in wealth and children,

یہ اللہ کی شان نہیں کہ وہ (کسی کو اپنا) بیٹا بنائے، وہ (اس سے) پاک ہے، جب وہ کسی کام کا فیصلہ فرماتا ہے تو اسے صرف یہی حکم دیتا ہے: ”ہوجا“ بس وہ ہوجاتا ہے

— English

It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.

Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children [in the next life]?"

Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him].

He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and who has not taken a son and has not had a partner in dominion and has created each thing and determined it with [precise] determination.

And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.

Wawassayna al-insana biwalidayhihusnan wa-in jahadaka litushrika bee malaysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhumailayya marjiAAukum faonabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloon

اور ہم نے انسان کو اس کے والدین سے نیک سلوک کا حکم فرمایا اور اگر وہ تجھ پر (یہ) کوشش کریں کہ تو میرے ساتھ اس چیز کو شریک ٹھہرائے جس کا تجھے کچھ بھی علم نہیں تو ان کی اطاعت مت کر، میری ہی طرف تم (سب) کو پلٹنا ہے سو میں تمہیں ان (کاموں) سے آگاہ کردوں گا جو تم (دنیا میں) کیا کرتے تھے

— English

And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.

وَوَصَّيۡنَا الۡاِنۡسٰنَ بِوٰلِدَيۡهِ‌ۚ حَمَلَتۡهُ اُمُّهٗ وَهۡنًا عَلٰى وَهۡنٍ وَّفِصٰلُهٗ فِىۡ عَامَيۡنِ اَنِ اشۡكُرۡ لِىۡ وَلِـوَالِدَيۡكَؕ اِلَىَّ الۡمَصِيۡرُ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wawassayna al-insanabiwalidayhi hamalat-hu ommuhu wahnan AAalawahnin wafisaluhu fee AAamayni ani oshkur lee waliwalidaykailayya almaseer

اور ہم نے انسان کو اس کے والدین کے بارے میں (نیکی کا) تاکیدی حکم فرمایا، جسے اس کی ماں تکلیف پر تکلیف کی حالت میں (اپنے پیٹ میں) برداشت کرتی رہی اور جس کا دودھ چھوٹنا بھی دو سال میں ہے (اسے یہ حکم دیا) کہ تو میرا (بھی) شکر ادا کر اور اپنے والدین کا بھی۔ (تجھے) میری ہی طرف لوٹ کر آنا ہے

And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.

يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوۡا رَبَّكُمۡ وَاخۡشَوۡا يَوۡمًا لَّا يَجۡزِىۡ وَالِدٌ عَنۡ وَّلَدِهٖ وَلَا مَوۡلُوۡدٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَنۡ وَّالِدِهٖ شَيْئًا ؕ اِنَّ وَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ‌ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُمۡ بِاللّٰهِ الۡغَرُوۡرُ‏ 

Ya ayyuha annasuittaqoo rabbakum wakhshaw yawman la yajzee walidunAAan waladihi wala mawloodun huwa jazin AAan walidihishay-an inna waAAda Allahi haqqun falataghurrannakumu alhayatu addunya walayaghurrannakum billahi algharoor

Urdu —

اے لوگو! اپنے رب سے ڈرو، اور اس دن سے ڈرو جس دن کوئی باپ اپنے بیٹے کی طرف سے بدلہ نہیں دے سکے گا اور نہ کوئی ایسا فرزند ہوگا جو اپنے والد کی طرف سے کچھ بھی بدلہ دینے والا ہو، بیشک اﷲ کا وعدہ سچا ہے سو دنیا کی زندگی تمہیں ہرگز دھوکہ میں نہ ڈال دے، اور نہ ہی فریب دینے والا (شیطان) تمہیں اﷲ کے بارے میں دھوکہ میں ڈال دے

— English

O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver.

Wama amwalukum wala awladukumbillatee tuqarribukum AAindana zulfa illaman amana waAAamila salihan faola-ikalahum jazao addiAAfi bima AAamiloowahum fee alghurufati aminoon

the high dwellings

بالاخانوں میں

secure

امن سے رہنے والے ہوں گے

اور نہ تمہارے مال اس قابل ہیں اور نہ تمہاری اولاد کہ تمہیں ہمارے حضور قرب اور نزدیکی دلا سکیں مگر جو ایمان لایا اور اس نے نیک عمل کئے، پس ایسے ہی لوگوں کے لئے دوگنا اجر ہے ان کے عمل کے بدلے میں اور وہ (جنت کے) بالاخانوں میں امن و امان سے ہوں گے

— English

And it is not your wealth or your children that bring you nearer to Us in position, but it is [by being] one who has believed and done righteousness. For them there will be the double reward for what they did, and they will be in the upper chambers [of Paradise], safe [and secure].

If Allah had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He is Allah, the One, the Prevailing.

— Transliteration

Wawassayna al-insanabiwalidayhi ihsanan hamalat-hu ommuhukurhan wawadaAAat-hu kurhan wahamluhu wafisaluhuthalathoona shahran hatta ithabalagha ashuddahu wabalagha arbaAAeena sanatan qala rabbiawziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAalawalidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahuwaaslih lee fee thurriyyatee innee tubtuilayka wa-innee mina almuslimeen

اور ہم نے انسان کو اپنے والدین کے ساتھ نیک سلوک کرنے کاحکم فرمایا۔ اس کی ماں نے اس کو تکلیف سے (پیٹ میں) اٹھائے رکھا اور اسے تکلیف کے ساتھ جنا، اور اس کا (پیٹ میں) اٹھانا اور اس کا دودھ چھڑانا (یعنی زمانۂ حمل و رضاعت) تیس ماہ (پر مشتمل) ہے۔ یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنی جوانی کو پہنچ جاتا ہے اور (پھر) چالیس سال (کی پختہ عمر) کو پہنچتا ہے، تو کہتا ہے: اے میرے رب: مجھے توفیق دے کہ میں تیرے اس احسان کا شکر ادا کروں جو تو نے مجھ پر اور میرے والدین پر فرمایا ہے اور یہ کہ میں ایسے نیک اعمال کروں جن سے تو راضی ہو اور میرے لئے میری اولاد میں نیکی اور خیر رکھ دے۔ بیشک میں تیری طرف رجوع کرتا ہوں اور میں یقیناً فرمانبرداروں میں سے ہوںo

And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."

وَالَّذِىۡ قَالَ لِـوَالِدَيۡهِ اُفٍّ لَّكُمَاۤ اَتَعِدٰنِنِىۡۤ اَنۡ اُخۡرَجَ وَقَدۡ خَلَتِ الۡقُرُوۡنُ مِنۡ قَبۡلِىۡ‌ۚ وَهُمَا يَسۡتَغِيۡثٰنِ اللّٰهَ وَيۡلَكَ اٰمِنۡ ۖ اِنَّ وَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ ۖۚ فَيَقُوۡلُ مَا هٰذَاۤ اِلَّاۤ اَسَاطِيۡرُ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wallathee qala liwalidayhioffin lakuma ataAAidaninee an okhraja waqad khalatialquroonu min qablee wahuma yastagheethani Allahawaylaka amin inna waAAda Allahi haqqunfayaqoolu ma hatha illa asateerual-awwaleen

اور جس نے اپنے والدین سے کہا: تم سے بیزاری ہے، تم مجھے (یہ) وعدہ دیتے ہو کہ میں (قبر سے دوبارہ زندہ کر کے) نکالا جاؤں گا حالانکہ مجھ سے پہلے بہت سی امتیں گزر چکیں۔ اب وہ دونوں (ماں باپ) اللہ سے فریاد کرنے لگے (اور لڑکے سے کہا:) تو ہلاک ہوگا۔ (اے لڑکے!) ایمان لے آ، بیشک اللہ کا وعدہ حق ہے۔ تو وہ (جواب میں) کہتا ہے: یہ (باتیں) اگلے لوگوں کے جھوٹے افسانوں کے سوا (کچھ) نہیں ہیںo

But one who says to his parents, "Uff to you; do you promise me that I will be brought forth [from the earth] when generations before me have already passed on [into oblivion]?" while they call to Allah for help [and to their son], "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former people" -

— Transliteration

IAAlamoo annama alhayatuaddunya laAAibun walahwun wazeenatun watafakhurunbaynakum watakathurun fee al-amwali wal-awladikamathali ghaythin aAAjaba alkuffara nabatuhuthumma yaheeju fatarahu musfarran thumma yakoonu hutamanwafee al-akhirati AAathabun shadeedun wamaghfiratunmina Allahi waridwanun wama alhayatuaddunya illa mataAAu alghuroor

Urdu —

جان لو کہ دنیا کی زندگی محض کھیل اور تماشا ہے اور ظاہری آرائش ہے اور آپس میں فخر اور خود ستائی ہے اور ایک دوسرے پر مال و اولاد میں زیادتی کی طلب ہے، اس کی مثال بارش کی سی ہے کہ جس کی پیداوار کسانوں کو بھلی لگتی ہے پھر وہ خشک ہو جاتی ہے پھر تم اسے پک کر زرد ہوتا دیکھتے ہو پھر وہ ریزہ ریزہ ہو جاتی ہے، اور آخرت میں (نافرمانوں کے لئے) سخت عذاب ہے اور (فرمانبرداروں کے لئے) اللہ کی جانب سے مغفرت اور عظیم خوشنودی ہے، اور دنیا کی زندگی دھوکے کی پونجی کے سوا کچھ نہیں ہےo

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.

— Transliteration

Allatheena yuthahiroonaminkum min nisa-ihim ma hunna ommahatihim inommahatuhum illa alla-ee waladnahumwa-innahum layaqooloona munkaran mina alqawli wazooran wa-innaAllaha laAAafuwwun ghafoor

and a lie

اور جھوٹ

wa-inna

But indeed,

اور بیشک

l-laha

Allah

اللہ تعالیٰ

laʿafuwwun

(is) surely, Oft-Pardoning

البتہ معاف کرنے والا ہے

ghafūrun

Oft-Forgiving

بخشش فرمانے والا ہے

Urdu —

تم میں سے جو لوگ اپنی بیویوں سے ظِہار کر بیٹھتے ہیں (یعنی یہ کہہ بیٹھتے ہیں کہ تم مجھ پر میری ماں کی پشت کی طرح ہو)، تو (یہ کہنے سے) وہ اُن کی مائیں نہیں (ہوجاتیں)، اُن کی مائیں تو صرف وہی ہیں جنہوں نے اُن کو جَنا ہے، اور بیشک وہ لوگ بری اور جھوٹی بات کہتے ہیں، اور بیشک اﷲ ضرور درگزر فرمانے والا بڑا بخشنے والا ہےo

— English

Those who pronounce thihar among you [to separate] from their wives - they are not [consequently] their mothers. Their mothers are none but those who gave birth to them. And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood. But indeed, Allah is Pardoning and Forgiving.

اللہ (کے عذاب) سے ہرگز نہ ہی اُن کے مال انہیں بچا سکیں گے اور نہ اُن کی اولاد ہی (انہیں بچا سکے گی)، یہی لوگ اہلِ دوزخ ہیں، وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیںo

Never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally

تمہیں قیامت کے دن ہرگز نہ تمہاری (کافر و مشرک) قرابتیں فائدہ دیں گی اور نہ تمہاری (کافر و مشرک) اولاد، (اُس دن اللہ) تمہارے درمیان مکمل جدائی کر دے گا (مومن جنت میں اور کافر دوزخ میں بھیج دیئے جائیں گے)، اور اللہ اُن کاموں کو خوب دیکھنے والا ہے جو تم کر رہے ہوo

Never will your relatives or your children benefit you; the Day of Resurrection He will judge between you. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tulhikum amwalukum wala awladukumAAan thikri Allahi waman yafAAal thalikafaola-ika humu alkhasiroon

اے ایمان والو! تمہارے مال اور تمہاری اولاد (کہیں) تمہیں اللہ کی یاد سے ہی غافل نہ کر دیں، اور جو شخص ایسا کرے گا تو وہی لوگ نقصان اٹھانے والے ہیںo

— English

O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.

— Transliteration

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooinna min azwajikum waawladikum AAaduwwan lakum fahtharoohumwa-in taAAfoo watasfahoo wataghfiroo fa-inna Allahaghafoorun raheem

(is) Oft-Forgiving

غفور

Most Merciful

رحیم ہے

Urdu —

اے ایمان والو! بیشک تمہاری بیویوں اور تمہاری اولاد میں سے بعض تمہارے دشمن ہیں پس اُن سے ہوشیار رہو۔ اور اگر تم صرفِ نظر کر لو اور درگزر کرو اور معاف کر دو تو بیشک اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہےo

— English

O you who have believed, indeed, among your wives and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them. But if you pardon and overlook and forgive - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.

Innaka in tatharhum yudillooAAibadaka wala yalidoo illa fajirankaffara

Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.

— Transliteration

Wayatoofu AAalayhim wildanunmukhalladoona itha raaytahum hasibtahum lu/lu-anmanthoora

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls.
