نیکی صرف یہی نہیں کہ تم اپنے منہ مشرق اور مغرب کی طرف پھیر لو بلکہ اصل نیکی تو یہ ہے کہ کوئی شخص اﷲ پر اور قیامت کے دن پر اور فرشتوں پر اور (اﷲ کی) کتاب پر اور پیغمبروں پر ایمان لائے، اور اﷲ کی محبت میں (اپنا) مال قرابت داروں پر اور یتیموں پر اور محتاجوں پر اور مسافروں پر اور مانگنے والوں پر اور (غلاموں کی) گردنوں (کو آزاد کرانے) میں خرچ کرے، اور نماز قائم کرے اور زکوٰۃ دے اور جب کوئی وعدہ کریں تو اپنا وعدہ پورا کرنے والے ہوں، اور سختی (تنگدستی) میں اور مصیبت (بیماری) میں اور جنگ کی شدّت (جہاد) کے وقت صبر کرنے والے ہوں، یہی لوگ سچے ہیں اور یہی پرہیزگار ہیں

— English

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

— Transliteration

Falamma fasala talootubiljunoodi qala inna Allaha mubtaleekumbinaharin faman shariba minhu falaysa minnee waman lam yatAAamhufa-innahu minnee illa mani ightarafa ghurfatan biyadihifashariboo minhu illa qaleelan minhum falamma jawazahuhuwa wallatheena amanoo maAAahu qaloola taqata lana alyawma bijalootawajunoodihi qala allatheena yathunnoonaannahum mulaqoo Allahi kam min fi-atin qaleelatinghalabat fi-atan katheeratan bi-ithni Allahi wallahumaAAa assabireen

پھرجب طالوت اپنے لشکروں کو لے کر شہر سے نکلا، تو اس نے کہا: بیشک اﷲ تمہیں ایک نہر کے ذریعے آزمانے والا ہے، پس جس نے اس میں سے پانی پیا سو وہ میرے (ساتھیوں میں) سے نہیں ہوگا، اور جو اس کو نہیں پئے گا پس وہی میری (جماعت) سے ہوگا مگر جو شخص ایک چُلّو (کی حد تک) اپنے ہاتھ سے پی لے (اس پر کوئی حرج نہیں)، سو ان میں سے چند لوگوں کے سوا باقی سب نے اس سے پانی پی لیا، پس جب طالوت اور ان کے ایمان والے ساتھی نہر کے پار چلے گئے، تو کہنے لگے: آج ہم میں جالوت اور اس کی فوجوں سے مقابلے کی طاقت نہیں، جو لوگ یہ یقین رکھتے تھے کہ وہ (شہید ہو کر یا مرنے کے بعد) اﷲ سے ملاقات کا شرف پانے والے ہیں، کہنے لگے: کئی مرتبہ اﷲ کے حکم سے تھوڑی سی جماعت (خاصی) بڑی جماعت پر غالب آجاتی ہے، اور اﷲ صبر کرنے والوں کو اپنی معیّت سے نوازتا ہے

And when Saul went forth with the soldiers, he said, "Indeed, Allah will be testing you with a river. So whoever drinks from it is not of me, and whoever does not taste it is indeed of me, excepting one who takes [from it] in the hollow of his hand." But they drank from it, except a [very] few of them. Then when he had crossed it along with those who believed with him, they said, "There is no power for us today against Goliath and his soldiers." But those who were certain that they would meet Allah said, "How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the patient."

اور جب وہ جالوت اور اس کی فوجوں کے مقابل ہوئے تو عرض کرنے لگے: اے ہمارے پروردگار! ہم پر صبر میں وسعت ارزانی فرما اور ہمیں ثابت قدم رکھ اور ہمیں کافروں پر غلبہ عطا فرما

And when they went forth to [face] Goliath and his soldiers, they said, "Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people."

لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللّٰهُ نَفۡسًا اِلَّا وُسۡعَهَا‌ؕ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتۡ وَعَلَيۡهَا مَا اكۡتَسَبَتۡ‌ؕ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذۡنَاۤ اِنۡ نَّسِيۡنَاۤ اَوۡ اَخۡطَاۡنَا‌ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحۡمِلۡ عَلَيۡنَاۤ اِصۡرًا كَمَا حَمَلۡتَهٗ عَلَى الَّذِيۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِنَا‌‌ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلۡنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهٖ‌ ۚ وَاعۡفُ عَنَّا وَاغۡفِرۡ لَنَا وَارۡحَمۡنَا اَنۡتَ مَوۡلٰٮنَا فَانصُرۡنَا عَلَى الۡقَوۡمِ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ‏ 

La yukallifu Allahu nafsanilla wusAAaha laha ma kasabatwaAAalayha ma iktasabat rabbana latu-akhithna in naseena aw akhta/narabbana wala tahmil AAalayna isrankama hamaltahu AAala allatheena minqablina rabbana wala tuhammilnama la taqata lana bihi waAAfuAAanna waghfir lana warhamnaanta mawlana fansurna AAalaalqawmi alkafireen

اﷲ کسی جان کو اس کی طاقت سے بڑھ کر تکلیف نہیں دیتا، اس نے جو نیکی کمائی اس کے لئے اس کا اجر ہے اور اس نے جو گناہ کمایا اس پر اس کا عذاب ہے، اے ہمارے رب! اگر ہم بھول جائیں یا خطا کر بیٹھیں تو ہماری گرفت نہ فرما، اے ہمارے پروردگار! اور ہم پر اتنا (بھی) بوجھ نہ ڈال جیسا تو نے ہم سے پہلے لوگوں پر ڈالا تھا، اے ہمارے پروردگار! اور ہم پر اتنا بوجھ (بھی) نہ ڈال جسے اٹھانے کی ہم میں طاقت نہیں، اور ہمارے (گناہوں) سے درگزر فرما، اور ہمیں بخش دے، اور ہم پر رحم فرما، تو ہی ہمارا کارساز ہے پس ہمیں کافروں کی قوم پر غلبہ عطا فرما

— English

Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

Assabireena wassadiqeenawalqaniteena walmunfiqeena walmustaghfireenabil-ashar

The patient

صبر کرنے والے

wal-ṣādiqīna

and the truthful

اور سچے۔ سچ بولنے والے

wal-qānitīna

and the obedient

اور اطاعت گزار

and those who spend

wal-mus'taghfirīna

and those who seek forgiveness

اور بخشش مانگنے والے

bil-asḥāri

[in the] before dawn

Urdu —

(یہ لوگ) صبر کرنے والے ہیں اور قول و عمل میں سچائی والے ہیں اور ادب و اطاعت میں جھکنے والے ہیں اور اﷲ کی راہ میں خرچ کرنے والے ہیں اور رات کے پچھلے پہر (اٹھ کر) اﷲ سے معافی مانگنے والے ہیں

The patient, the true, the obedient, those who spend [in the way of Allah], and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.

— Transliteration

In tamsaskum hasanatun tasu/humwa-in tusibkum sayyi-atun yafrahoo bihawa-in tasbiroo watattaqoo la yadurrukumkayduhum shay-an inna Allaha bima yaAAmaloona muheet

Indeed,

بیشک

Allah

ساتھ اس کے جو

yaʿmalūna

they do

وہ عمل کرتے ہیں

muḥīṭun

(is) All-Encompassing

گھیرنے والا ہے

Urdu —

اگر تمہیں کوئی بھلائی پہنچے تو انہیں بری لگتی ہے اور تمہیں کوئی رنج پہنچے تو وہ اس سے خوش ہوتے ہیں، اور اگر تم صبر کرتے رہو اور تقوٰی اختیار کئے رکھو تو ان کا فریب تمہیں کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکے گا، جو کچھ وہ کر رہے ہیں بیشک اللہ اس پر احاطہ فرمائے ہوئے ہے

— English

If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do.

Bala in tasbiroo watattaqoowaya/tookum min fawrihim hatha yumdidkum rabbukumbikhamsati alafin mina almala-ikatimusawwimeen

Urdu —

ہاں اگر تم صبر کرتے رہو اور پرہیزگاری قائم رکھو اور وہ (کفّار) تم پر اسی وقت (پورے) جوش سے حملہ آور ہو جائیں تو تمہارا رب پانچ ہزار نشان والے فرشتوں کے ذریعے تمہاری مدد فرمائے گا

Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction]

ان کو جو صبر کرنے والے ہیں

کیا تم یہ گمان کئے ہوئے ہو کہ تم (یونہی) جنت میں چلے جاؤ گے؟ حالانکہ ابھی اللہ نے تم میں سے جہاد کرنے والوں کو پرکھا ہی نہیں ہے اور نہ ہی صبر کرنے والوں کو جانچا ہے

Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet made evident those of you who fight in His cause and made evident those who are steadfast?

— Transliteration

Wakaayyin min nabiyyin qatalamaAAahu ribbiyyoona katheerun fama wahanoo lima asabahumfee sabeeli Allahi wama daAAufoo wamaistakanoo wallahu yuhibbu assabireen

they gave in

And Allah

اور اللہ

yuḥibbu

loves

محبت رکھتا ہے

l-ṣābirīna

the patient ones

صبر کرنے والوں سے

Urdu —

اور کتنے ہی انبیاءایسے ہوئے جنہوں نے جہاد کیا ان کے ساتھ بہت سے اللہ والے (اولیاء) بھی شریک ہوئے، تو نہ انہوں نے ان مصیبتوں کے باعث جو انہیں اللہ کی راہ میں پہنچیں ہمت ہاری اور نہ وہ کمزور پڑے اور نہ وہ جھکے، اور اللہ صبر کرنے والوں سے محبت کرتا ہے

And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast.

— Transliteration

Latublawunna fee amwalikumwaanfusikum walatasmaAAunna mina allatheena ootoo alkitabamin qablikum wamina allatheena ashrakoo athankatheeran wa-in tasbiroo watattaqoo fa-inna thalikamin AAazmi al-omoor

the matters

(of) determination

کاموں میں سے ہے۔ بڑی ہمت کے کاموں میں سے ہے

Urdu —

(اے مسلمانو!) تمہیں ضرور بالضرور تمہارے اموال اور تمہاری جانوں میں آزمایا جائے گا، اور تمہیں بہر صورت ان لوگوں سے جنہیں تم سے پہلے کتاب دی گئی تھی اور ان لوگوں سے جو مشرک ہیں بہت سے اذیت ناک (طعنے) سننے ہوں گے، اور اگر تم صبر کرتے رہو اور تقوٰی اختیار کئے رکھو تو یہ بڑی ہمت کے کاموں سے ہے

You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooisbiroo wasabiroo warabitoo wattaqooAllaha laAAallakum tuflihoon

Be steadfast

Urdu —

اے ایمان والو! صبر کرو اور ثابت قدمی میں (دشمن سے بھی) زیادہ محنت کرو اور (جہاد کے لئے) خوب مستعد رہو، اور (ہمیشہ) اللہ کا تقوٰی قائم رکھو تاکہ تم کامیاب ہو سکو

O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.

وَلَقَدۡ كُذِّبَتۡ رُسُلٌ مِّنۡ قَبۡلِكَ فَصَبَرُوۡا عَلٰى مَا كُذِّبُوۡا وَاُوۡذُوۡا حَتّٰىۤ اَتٰٮهُمۡ نَصۡرُنَا‌ؕ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمٰتِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَكَ مِنۡ نَّبَاِى الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Walaqad kuththibat rusulun minqablika fasabaroo AAala ma kuththiboowaoothoo hatta atahum nasrunawala mubaddila likalimati Allahi walaqad jaakamin naba-i almursaleen

Urdu —

اور بیشک آپ سے قبل (بھی بہت سے) رسول جھٹلائے گئے مگر انہوں نے جھٹلائے جانے اور اذیت پہنچائے جانے پر صبر کیا حتٰی کہ انہیں ہماری مدد آپہنچی، اور اﷲ کی باتوں (یعنی وعدوں کو) کوئی بدلنے والا نہیں، اور بیشک آپ کے پاس (تسکینِ قلب کے لیے) رسولوں کی خبریں آچکی ہیں

And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they were patient over [the effects of] denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. And none can alter the words of Allah. And there has certainly come to you some information about the [previous] messengers.

وَلَا تَقۡرَبُوۡا مَالَ الۡيَتِيۡمِ اِلَّا بِالَّتِىۡ هِىَ اَحۡسَنُ حَتّٰى يَبۡلُغَ اَشُدَّهٗ‌ۚ وَاَوۡفُوۡا الۡكَيۡلَ وَالۡمِيۡزَانَ بِالۡقِسۡطِ‌ۚ لَا نُـكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا اِلَّا وُسۡعَهَا‌ۚ وَاِذَا قُلۡتُمۡ فَاعۡدِلُوۡا وَلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبٰى‌‌ۚ وَبِعَهۡدِ اللّٰهِ اَوۡفُوۡا‌ؕ ذٰلِكُمۡ وَصّٰٮكُمۡ بِهٖ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَذَكَّرُوۡنَۙ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wala taqraboo mala alyateemiilla billatee hiya ahsanu hattayablugha ashuddahu waawfoo alkayla walmeezana bilqistila nukallifu nafsan illa wusAAaha wa-ithaqultum faAAdiloo walaw kana tha qurbawabiAAahdi Allahi awfoo thalikum wassakumbihi laAAallakum tathakkaroon

We burden

ہم تکلیف دیتے

any soul

کسی جان کو

except

مگر

wus'ʿahā

(to) its capacity

اس کی وسعت کے مطابق

wa-idhā

And when

اور جب

qul'tum

you speak

کہو تم / بات کرو

fa-iʿ'dilū

then be just

تم تو عدل کرو

walaw

even if

اگرچہ

kāna

he is

ہوں

**a near relative.

And (the) Covenant

اور عہد کو

(He) has enjoined on you

وصیت کرتا ہے وہ تمہیں

with it

ساتھ اس کے

laʿallakum

so that you may

تاکہ تم

tadhakkarūna

remember

نصیحت پکڑو

Urdu —

اور یتیم کے مال کے قریب مت جانا مگر ایسے طریق سے جو بہت ہی پسندیدہ ہو یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنی جوانی کو پہنچ جائے، اور پیمانے اور ترازو (یعنی ناپ اور تول) کو انصاف کے ساتھ پورا کیا کرو۔ ہم کسی شخص کو اس کی طاقت سے زیادہ تکلیف نہیں دیتے، اور جب تم (کسی کی نسبت کچھ) کہو تو عدل کرو اگرچہ وہ (تمہارا) قرابت دار ہی ہو، اور اﷲ کے عہد کو پورا کیا کرو، یہی (باتیں) ہیں جن کا اس نے تمہیں تاکیدی حکم دیا ہے تاکہ تم نصیحت قبول کرو

— English

And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.

Qul aghayra Allahi abghee rabbanwahuwa rabbu kulli shay-in wala taksibu kullu nafsin illaAAalayha wala taziru waziratun wizra okhrathumma ila rabbikum marjiAAukum fayunabbi-okum bimakuntum feehi takhtalifoon

Urdu —

فرما دیجئے: کیا میں اﷲ کے سوا کوئی دوسرا رب تلاش کروں حالانکہ وہی ہر شے کا پروردگار ہے، اور ہر شخص جو بھی (گناہ) کرتا ہے (اس کا وبال) اسی پر ہوتا ہے اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا دوسرے کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گا۔ پھر تمہیں اپنے رب ہی کی طرف لوٹنا ہے پھر وہ تمہیں ان (باتوں کی حقیقت) سے آگاہ فرما دے گا جن میں تم اختلاف کیا کرتے تھے

Say, "Is it other than Allah I should desire as a lord while He is the Lord of all things? And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."

Wallatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati la nukallifunafsan illa wusAAaha ola-ika as-habualjannati hum feeha khalidoon

(of) Paradise

اس میں

khālidūna

(will) abide forever

ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں

Urdu —

اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے اور نیک عمل کرتے رہے، ہم کسی شخص کو اس کی طاقت سے زیادہ مکلّف نہیں کرتے، یہی لوگ اہلِ جنت ہیں وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے

— English

But those who believed and did righteous deeds - We charge no soul except [within] its capacity. Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.

— Transliteration

Wa-in kana ta-ifatun minkum amanoobillathee orsiltu bihi wata-ifatun lamyu/minoo fasbiroo hatta yahkumaAllahu baynana wahuwa khayru alhakimeen

(of) [the] Judges

فیصلہ کرنے والوں میں

Urdu —

اور اگر تم میں سے کوئی ایک گروہ اس (دین) پر جس کے ساتھ میں بھیجا گیا ہوں ایمان لے آیا ہے اور دوسرا گروہ ایمان نہیں لایا تو (اے ایمان والو!) صبر کرو یہاں تک کہ اﷲ ہمارے درمیان فیصلہ فرما دے، اور وہ سب سے بہتر فیصلہ فرمانے والا ہے

And if there should be a group among you who has believed in that with which I have been sent and a group that has not believed, then be patient until Allah judges between us. And He is the best of judges."

Urdu —

اور تمہیں ہمارا کون سا عمل برا لگا ہے؟ صرف یہی کہ ہم اپنے رب کی (سچی) نشانیوں پر ایمان لے آئے ہیں جب وہ ہمارے پاس پہنچ گئیں۔ اے ہمارے رب! تو ہم پر صبر کے سرچشمے کھول دے اور ہم کو (ثابت قدمی سے) مسلمان رہتے ہوئے (دنیا سے) اٹھالے

And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]."

lil'muttaqīna

(is) for the righteous

تقوی والوں کے لیے ہے

Urdu —

موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے اپنی قوم سے فرمایا: تم اللہ سے مدد مانگو اور صبر کرو، بیشک زمین اللہ کی ہے وہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جسے چاہتا ہے اس کا وارث بنا دیتا ہے، اور انجامِ خیر پرہیزگاروں کے لئے ہی ہے

Said Moses to his people, "Seek help through Allah and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous."

Waawrathna alqawma allatheenakanoo yustadAAafoona mashariqa al-ardiwamagharibaha allatee barakna feehawatammat kalimatu rabbika alhusna AAalabanee isra-eela bima sabaroo wadammarnama kana yasnaAAu firAAawnu waqawmuhu wamakanoo yaAArishoon

And We destroyed

اور برباد کردیا ہم نے

کیا کرتا۔ بناتا

فرعون

waqawmuhu

and his people

اور اس کی قوم

wamā

and what

اور جو کچھ

چھتوں پر چڑھاتے

Urdu —

اور ہم نے اس قوم (بنی اسرائیل) کو جو کمزور اور استحصال زدہ تھی اس سرزمین کے مشرق و مغرب (مصر اور شام) کا وارث بنا دیا جس میں ہم نے برکت رکھی تھی، اور (یوں) بنی اسرائیل کے حق میں آپ کے رب کا نیک وعدہ پورا ہوگیا اس وجہ سے کہ انہوں نے (فرعونی مظالم پر) صبر کیا تھا، اور ہم نے ان (عالیشان محلات) کو تباہ و برباد کردیا جو فرعون اور اس کی قوم نے بنا رکھے تھے اور ان چنائیوں (اور باغات) کو بھی جنہیں وہ بلندیوں پر چڑھاتے تھے

And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones, which We had blessed. And the good word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of what they had patiently endured. And We destroyed [all] that Pharaoh and his people were producing and what they had been building.

وَاَطِيۡعُوا اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ وَلَا تَنَازَعُوۡا فَتَفۡشَلُوۡا وَتَذۡهَبَ رِيۡحُكُمۡ‌ وَاصۡبِرُوۡا‌ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الصّٰبِرِيۡنَ‌ۚ‏ 

— Transliteration

WaateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahuwala tanazaAAoo fatafshaloo watathhaba reehukumwasbiroo inna Allaha maAAa assabireen

صبر کرنے والوں کے

اور اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اطاعت کرو اور آپس میں جھگڑا مت کرو ورنہ (متفرق اور کمزور ہو کر) بزدل ہو جاؤ گے اور (دشمنوں کے سامنے) تمہاری ہوا (یعنی قوت) اکھڑ جائے گی اور صبر کرو، بیشک اللہ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.

Ya ayyuha annabiyyu harridialmu/mineena AAala alqitali in yakun minkumAAishroona sabiroona yaghliboo mi-atayni wa-in yakunminkum mi-atun yaghliboo alfan mina allatheena kafaroobi-annahum qawmun la yafqahoon

Urdu —

اے نبئ (مکرّم!) آپ ایمان والوں کو جہاد کی ترغیب دیں (یعنی حق کی خاطر لڑنے پر آمادہ کریں)، اگر تم میں سے (جنگ میں) بیس () ثابت قدم رہنے والے ہوں تو وہ دو سو () (کفار) پر غالب آئیں گے اور اگر تم میں سے (ایک) سو (ثابت قدم) ہوں گے تو کافروں میں سے (ایک) ہزار پر غالب آئیں گے اس وجہ سے کہ وہ (آخرت اور اس کے اجرِ عظیم کی) سمجھ نہیں رکھتے (سو وہ اس قدر جذبہ و شوق سے نہیں لڑ سکتے جس قدر وہ مومن جو اپنی جانوں کا جنت اور اللہ کی رضا کے عوض سودا کر چکے ہیں)

— English

O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand.

— Transliteration

Al-ana khaffafa Allahu AAankumwaAAalima anna feekum daAAfan fa-in yakun minkum mi-atun sabiratunyaghliboo mi-atayni wa-in yakun minkum alfun yaghliboo alfaynibi-ithni Allahi wallahu maAAa assabireen

اب اللہ نے تم سے (اپنے حکم کا بوجھ) ہلکا کر دیا اسے معلوم ہے کہ تم میں (کسی قدر) کمزوری ہے سو (اب تخفیف کے بعد حکم یہ ہے کہ) اگر تم میں سے (ایک) سو (آدمی) ثابت قدم رہنے والے ہوں (تو) وہ دو سو (کفار) پر غالب آئیں گے اور اگر تم میں سے (ایک) ہزار ہوں تو وہ اللہ کے حکم سے دو ہزار (کافروں) پر غالب آئیں گے، اور اللہ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے (یہ مومنوں کے لئے ہدف ہے کہ میدانِ جہاد میں ان کے جذبۂ ایمانی کا اثر کم سے کم یہ ہونا چاہیئے)

Now, Allah has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the steadfast.

Urdu —

(اے رسول!) آپ اسی کی اتباع کریں جو آپ کی طرف وحی کی جاتی ہے اور صبر کرتے رہیں یہاں تک کہ اللہ فیصلہ فرما دے، اور وہ سب سے بہتر فیصلہ فرمانے والا ہے

And follow what is revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and be patient until Allah will judge. And He is the best of judges.

maghfiratun

(will be) forgiveness

بخشش ہے

wa-ajrun

and a reward

اور اجر ہے

kabīrun

great

بہت بڑا

Urdu —

سوائے ان لوگوں کے جنہوں نے صبر کیا اور نیک عمل کرتے رہے، (تو) ایسے لوگوں کے لئے مغفرت اور بڑا اجر ہے

Except for those who are patient and do righteous deeds; those will have forgiveness and great reward.

Tilka min anba-i alghaybi nooheehailayka ma kunta taAAlamuha anta wala qawmukamin qabli hatha fasbir inna alAAaqibatalilmuttaqeen

Urdu —

یہ (بیان ان) غیب کی خبروں میں سے ہے جو ہم آپ کی طرف وحی کرتے ہیں، اس سے قبل نہ آپ انہیں جانتے تھے اور نہ آپ کی قوم، پس آپ صبر کریں۔ بیشک بہتر انجام پرہیزگاروں ہی کے لئے ہے

— English

That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.

And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good.

Wajaoo AAala qameesihibidamin kathibin qala bal sawwalat lakum anfusukumamran fasabrun jameelun wallahu almustaAAanuAAala ma tasifoon

جس سے مدد چاہی جاسکتی ہے

تم بیان کررہے ہو

Urdu —

اور وہ اس کے قمیض پر جھوٹا خون (بھی) لگا کر لے آئے، (یعقوب علیہ السلام نے) کہا: (حقیقت یہ نہیں ہے) بلکہ تمہارے (حاسد) نفسوں نے ایک (بہت بڑا) کام تمہارے لئے آسان اور خوشگوار بنا دیا (جو تم نے کر ڈالا)، پس (اس حادثہ پر) صبر ہی بہتر ہے، اور اﷲ ہی سے مدد چاہتا ہوں اس پر جو کچھ تم بیان کر رہے ہو

— English

And they brought upon his shirt false blood. [Jacob] said, "Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe."

حکمت والا ہے

Urdu —

یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: (ایسا نہیں) بلکہ تمہارے نفسوں نے یہ بات تمہارے لئے مرغوب بنا دی ہے، اب صبر (ہی) اچھا ہے، قریب ہے کہ اﷲ ان سب کو میرے پاس لے آئے، بیشک وہ بڑا علم والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے

— English

[Jacob] said, "Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together. Indeed it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise."

— Transliteration

Qaloo a-innaka laanta yoosufa qalaana yoosufu wahatha akhee qad manna AllahuAAalayna innahu man yattaqi wayasbir fa-inna Allahala yudeeAAu ajra almuhsineen

fears Allah

تقویٰ اختیار کرے

and (is) patient

اور صبر کرے

Urdu —

وہ بولے: کیا واقعی تم ہی یوسف ہو؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: (ہاں) میں یوسف ہوں اور یہ میرا بھائی ہے بیشک اﷲ نے ہم پر احسان فرمایا ہے، یقیناً جو شخص اﷲ سے ڈرتا اور صبر کرتا ہے تو بیشک اﷲ نیکوکاروں کا اجر ضائع نہیں کرتا

— English

They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favored us. Indeed, he who fears Allah and is patient, then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good."

وَلَـقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوۡسٰى بِاٰيٰتِنَاۤ اَنۡ اَخۡرِجۡ قَوۡمَكَ مِنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوۡرِ ۙ وَذَكِّرۡهُمۡ بِاَيّٰٮمِ اللّٰهِ‌ؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰلِكَ لَاَيٰتٍ لّـِكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوۡرٍ‏ 

— Transliteration

Walaqad arsalna moosa bi-ayatinaan akhrij qawmaka mina aththulumatiila annoori wathakkirhum bi-ayyamiAllahi inna fee thalika laayatinlikulli sabbarin shakoor

And verily

اور البتہ تحقیق

We sent

with Our Signs

And remind them

اور نصیحت کرو ان کو

bi-ayyāmi

of the days

دنوں کے

l-lahi

(of) Allah

ساتھ اللہ کے

inna

Indeed,

بیشک

fī

اس میں

dhālika

that

laāyātin

surely (are) the signs

البتہ نشانیاں ہیں

likulli

for everyone

واسطے ہر

ṣabbārin

patient

بہت صبر کرنے والے

shakūrin

and thankful

بہت شکر کرنے والے کے لئے

Urdu —

اور بیشک ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کو اپنی نشانیوں کے ساتھ بھیجا کہ (اے موسٰی!) تم اپنی قوم کو اندھیروں سے نکال کر نور کی طرف لے جاؤ اور انہیں اﷲ کے دنوں کی یاد دلاؤ (جو ان پر اور پہلی امتوں پر آچکے تھے)۔ بیشک اس میں ہر زیادہ صبر کرنے والے (اور) خوب شکر بجا لانے والے کے لئے نشانیاں ہیں

— English

And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, [saying], "Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days of Allah." Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

وَمَا لَـنَاۤ اَلَّا نَـتَوَكَّلَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ وَقَدۡ هَدٰٮنَا سُبُلَنَا‌ؕ وَلَــنَصۡبِرَنَّ عَلٰى مَاۤ اٰذَيۡتُمُوۡنَا‌ؕ وَعَلَى اللّٰهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ الۡمُتَوَكِّلُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wama lana allanatawakkala AAala Allahi waqad hadanasubulana walanasbiranna AAala ma athaytumoonawaAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almutawakkiloon

And what

(is) for us

ہم کو

کہ نہ ہم

we put our trust

توکل کریں

He has guided us

اس نے ہدایت دی ہم کو

to our ways

ہمارے راستوں کی

And surely we will bear with patience

اور البتہ ہم ضرور صبر کریں گے

اس کے جو

ādhaytumūnā

harm you may cause us

اذیت دے رہے ہو تم ہم کو

waʿalā

And upon

اورپر ہی

l-lahi

Allah

اللہ

falyatawakkali

so let put (their) trust

پس چاہیے کہ بھروسہ کریں

l-mutawakilūna

the ones who put (their) trust

بھروسہ کرنے/ توکل کرنے والے

Urdu —

اور ہمیں کیا ہے کہ ہم اللہ پر بھروسہ نہ کریں درآنحالیکہ اسی نے ہمیں (ہدایت و کامیابی کی) راہیں دکھائی ہیں، اور ہم ضرور تمہاری اذیت رسانیوں پر صبر کریں گے اور اہلِ توکل کو اللہ ہی پر توکل کرنا چاہیے

— English

And why should we not rely upon Allah while He has guided us to our [good] ways. And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And upon Allah let those who would rely [indeed] rely."

وَبَرَزُوۡا لِلّٰهِ جَمِيۡعًا فَقَالَ الضُّعَفٰۤؤُا لِلَّذِيۡنَ اسۡتَكۡبَرُوۡۤا اِنَّا كُنَّا لَـكُمۡ تَبَعًا فَهَلۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ مُّغۡـنُوۡنَ عَنَّا مِنۡ عَذَابِ اللّٰهِ مِنۡ شَىۡءٍ‌ؕ قَالُوۡا لَوۡ هَدٰٮنَا اللّٰهُ لَهَدَيۡنٰكُمۡ‌ؕ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡنَاۤ اَجَزِعۡنَاۤ اَمۡ صَبَرۡنَا مَا لَــنَا مِنۡ مَّحِيۡصٍ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wabarazoo lillahi jameeAAan faqalaadduAAafao lillatheena istakbarooinna kunna lakum tabaAAan fahal antum mughnoonaAAanna min AAathabi Allahi min shay-in qaloolaw hadana Allahu lahadaynakum sawaonAAalayna ajaziAAna am sabarna malana min mahees

And they will come forth

the one who avails

وہ کہیں گے

Allah had guided us

ہدایت دیتا ہم کو

surely we would have guided you

البتہ ہم بھی ہدایت دیتے تم کو کے

(It is) same

برابر ہے

whether we show intolerance

خواہ ہم جزع و فزع کریں

یا

we are patient

ہم صبر کریں

نہیں ہے

(is) for us

ہمارے لئے

کوئی

place of escape

پناہ گاہ

Urdu —

اور (روزِ محشر) اللہ کے سامنے سب (چھوٹے بڑے) حاضر ہوں گے تو (پیروی کرنے والے) کمزور لوگ (طاقتور) متکبروں سے کہیں گے: ہم تو (عمر بھر) تمہارے تابع رہے تو کیا تم اللہ کے عذاب سے بھی ہمیں کسی قدر بچا سکتے ہو؟ وہ (اُمراء اپنے پیچھے لگنے والے غریبوں سے) کہیں گے: اگر اللہ ہمیں ہدایت کرتا تو ہم تمہیں بھی ضرور ہدایت کی راہ دکھاتے (ہم خود بھی گمراہ تھے سو تمہیں بھی گمراہ کرتے رہے)۔ ہم پر برابر ہے خواہ (آج) ہم آہ و زاری کریں یا صبر کریں ہمارے لئے کوئی راہِ فرار نہیں ہے

— English

And they will come out [for judgement] before Allah all together, and the weak will say to those who were arrogant, "Indeed, we were your followers, so can you avail us anything against the punishment of Allah?" They will say, "If Allah had guided us, we would have guided you. It is all the same for us whether we show intolerance or are patient: there is for us no place of escape."

الَّذِيۡنَ صَبَرُوۡا وَعَلٰى رَبِّهِمۡ يَتَوَكَّلُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Allatheena sabaroo waAAalarabbihim yatawakkaloon

[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.

MakkiSerial: Revelation: 70Verses: 128Parah: 14Rukus: 16Sajda: 50

مَا عِنۡدَكُمۡ يَنۡفَدُ‌ وَمَا عِنۡدَ اللّٰهِ بَاقٍؕ وَلَـنَجۡزِيَنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ صَبَرُوۡۤا اَجۡرَهُمۡ بِاَحۡسَنِ مَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Ma AAindakum yanfadu wamaAAinda Allahi baqin walanajziyanna allatheenasabaroo ajrahum bi-ahsani ma kanooyaAAmaloon

Whatever

جو

ʿindakum

(is) with you

تمہارے پاس ہے

will be exhausted

ختم ہوجائے گا

and whatever

اور جو

(is) with

And surely We will pay

اور البتہ ہم ضرور جزا دیں گے

bi-aḥsani

to (the) best

بہترین

جو

they used (to)

وہ عمل کرتے

Urdu —

جو (مال و زر) تمہارے پاس ہے فنا ہو جائے گا اور جو اللہ کے پاس ہے باقی رہنے والا ہے، اور ہم ان لوگوں کو جنہوں نے صبر کیا ضرور ان کا اجر عطا فرمائیں گے ان کے اچھے اعمال کے عوض جو وہ انجام دیتے رہے تھے

— English

Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.

ثُمَّ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِيۡنَ هَاجَرُوۡا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا فُتِنُوۡا ثُمَّ جٰهَدُوۡا وَصَبَرُوۡۤاۙ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِهَا لَغَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ‏ 

— Transliteration

Thumma inna rabbaka lillatheena hajaroomin baAAdi ma futinoo thumma jahadoo wasabarooinna rabbaka min baAAdiha laghafoorun raheem

Indeed,

بیشک

rabbaka

your Lord

تیرا رب

min

**after it,

سے

baʿdihā

after it

اس کے بعد

laghafūrun

surely is Oft-Forgiving

البتہ غفور،

raḥīmun

Most Merciful

رحیم ہے

Urdu —

پھر آپ کا رب ان لوگوں کے لئے جنہوں نے آزمائشوں (اور تکلیفوں) میں مبتلا کئے جانے کے بعد ہجرت کی (یعنی اللہ کے لئے اپنے وطن چھوڑ دیئے) پھر جہاد کئے اور (پریشانیوں پر) صبر کئے تو (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) آپ کا رب اس کے بعد بڑا بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے

— English

Then, indeed your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been compelled [to renounce their religion] and thereafter fought [for the cause of Allah] and were patient - indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and Merciful

وَاِنۡ عَاقَبۡتُمۡ فَعَاقِبُوۡا بِمِثۡلِ مَا عُوۡقِبۡتُمۡ بِهٖ‌ۚ وَلَٮِٕنۡ صَبَرۡتُمۡ لَهُوَ خَيۡرٌ لِّلصّٰبِرِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wa-in AAaqabtum faAAaqiboobimithli ma AAooqibtum bihi wala-in sabartum lahuwakhayrun lissabireen

And if

اور اگر

you retaliate

بدلہ لو تم

faʿāqibū

then retaliate

تو بدلہ لو

with the like

with [it].

ساتھ اس کے

But if

اور البتہ اگر

ṣabartum

you are patient

صبر کیا تم نے

lahuwa

surely (it) is

البتہ وہ

khayrun

better

بہتر ہے

lilṣṣābirīna

for those who are patient

صبر کرنے والوں کے لیے

Urdu —

اور اگر تم سزا دینا چاہو تو اتنی ہی سزا دو جس قدر تکلیف تمہیں دی گئی تھی، اور اگر تم صبر کرو تو یقیناً وہ صبر کرنے والوں کے لئے بہتر ہے

— English

And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.

وَاصۡبِرۡ وَمَا صَبۡرُكَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ‌ وَلَا تَحۡزَنۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا تَكُ فِىۡ ضَيۡقٍ مِّمَّا يَمۡكُرُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wasbir wama sabrukailla billahi wala tahzanAAalayhim wala taku fee dayqin mimmayamkuroon

wa-iṣ'bir

And be patient

اور صبر کیجیے

and not

اور نہیں

(is) your patience

صبر تیرا

from Allah

وہ چالیں چل رہے ہیں

Urdu —

اور (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) صبر کیجئے اور آپ کا صبر کرنا اللہ ہی کے ساتھ ہے اور آپ ان (کی سرکشی) پر رنجیدہ خاطر نہ ہوا کریں اور آپ ان کی فریب کاریوں سے (اپنے کشادہ سینہ میں) تنگی (بھی) محسوس نہ کیا کریں

— English

And be patient, [O Muhammad], and your patience is not but through Allah. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire.

مَّنِ اهۡتَدٰى فَاِنَّمَا يَهۡتَدِىۡ لِنَفۡسِهٖ‌ۚ وَمَنۡ ضَلَّ فَاِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيۡهَا‌ؕ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرٰى‌ؕ وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِيۡنَ حَتّٰى نَبۡعَثَ رَسُوۡلاً‏ 

— Transliteration

Mani ihtada fa-innama yahtadeelinafsihi waman dalla fa-innama yadilluAAalayha wala taziru waziratun wizra okhrawama kunna muAAaththibeena hattanabAAatha rasoola

a bearer of burden

کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا

(of) another

دوسرے کا

wamā

And not

اور نہیں

kunnā

ہیں ہم

muʿadhibīna

are to punish

عذاب دینے والے

ḥattā

until,

یہاں تک کہ

nabʿatha

We have sent

ہم بھیجیں

rasūlan

a Messenger

ایک رسول کو

Urdu —

جو کوئی راہِ ہدایت اختیار کرتا ہے تو وہ اپنے فائدہ کے لئے ہدایت پر چلتا ہے اور جو شخص گمراہ ہوتا ہے تو اس کی گمراہی کا وبال (بھی) اسی پر ہے، اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا کسی دوسرے (کے گناہوں) کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گا، اور ہم ہرگز عذاب دینے والے نہیں ہیں یہاں تک کہ ہم (اس قوم میں) کسی رسول کو بھیج لیں

— English

Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger.

وَاَمَّا الۡجِدَارُ فَكَانَ لِغُلٰمَيۡنِ يَتِيۡمَيۡنِ فِىۡ الۡمَدِيۡنَةِ وَكَانَ تَحۡتَهٗ كَنۡزٌ لَّهُمَا وَكَانَ اَبُوۡهُمَا صَالِحًـاۚ فَاَرَادَ رَبُّكَ اَنۡ يَّبۡلُغَاۤ اَشُدَّهُمَا وَيَسۡتَخۡرِجَا كَنۡزَهُمَاۖ رَحۡمَةً مِّنۡ رَّبِّكَ‌‌ۚ وَمَا فَعَلۡتُهٗ عَنۡ اَمۡرِىۡ‌ؕ ذٰلِكَ تَاۡوِيۡلُ مَا لَمۡ تَسۡطِعْ عَّلَيۡهِ صَبۡرًاؕ‏ 

— Transliteration

Waamma aljidaru fakanalighulamayni yateemayni fee almadeenati wakana tahtahukanzun lahuma wakana aboohuma salihanfaarada rabbuka an yablugha ashuddahumawayastakhrija kanzahuma rahmatan min rabbikawama faAAaltuhu AAan amree thalika ta/weelu malam tastiAA AAalayhi sabra

they reach

وہ دونوں پہنچیں

their maturity

اپنی جوانی کو

wayastakhrijā

and bring forth

اور نکالیں

kanzahumā

their treasure

اپنے خزانے کو

raḥmatan

(as) a mercy

بطور رحمت

min

from

سے

rabbika

your Lord

تیرے رب کی طرف سے

wamā

And not

اور نہیں

faʿaltuhu

I did it

میں نے کہا اس کو

ʿan

سے

amrī

my (own) accord

اپنے حکم سے

dhālika

That

یہ ہے

tawīlu

(is the) interpretation

حقیقت

mā

(of) what

جو

lam

not

نہیں

tasṭiʿ

you were able

تم استطاعت رکھ سکے

ʿalayhi

on it

اس پر

ṣabran

(to have) patience

صبر کی

Urdu —

اور وہ جو دیوار تھی تو وہ شہر میں (رہنے والے) دو یتیم بچوں کی تھی اور اس کے نیچے ان دونوں کے لئے ایک خزانہ (مدفون) تھا اور ان کا باپ صالح (شخص) تھا، سو آپ کے رب نے ارادہ کیا کہ وہ دونوں اپنی جوانی کو پہنچ جائیں اور آپ کے رب کی رحمت سے وہ اپنا خزانہ (خود ہی) نکالیں، اور میں نے (جو کچھ بھی کیا) وہ اَز خود نہیں کیا، یہ ان (واقعات) کی حقیقت ہے جن پر آپ صبر نہ کر سکے

— English

And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they reach maturity and extract their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience."

Taa-HaaTaa-Haa020surahطٰہٰ

MakkiSerial: Revelation: 45Verses: 135Parah: 16Rukus: 8Sajda: ---

فَاصۡبِرۡ عَلٰى مَا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ قَبۡلَ طُلُوۡعِ الشَّمۡسِ وَقَبۡلَ غُرُوۡبِهَا‌ۚ وَمِنۡ اٰنَآىِٕ الَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡ وَاَطۡرَافَ النَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرۡضٰى‏ 

— Transliteration

Fasbir AAala mayaqooloona wasabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tulooAAiashshamsi waqabla ghuroobiha wamin ana-iallayli fasabbih waatrafa annaharilaAAallaka tarda

be satisfied

تو راضی ہوجائے

Urdu —

پس آپ ان کی (دل آزار) باتوں پر صبر فرمایا کریں اور اپنے رب کی حمد کے ساتھ تسبیح کیا کریں طلوعِ آفتاب سے پہلے (نمازِ فجر میں) اور اس کے غروب سے قبل (نمازِ عصر میں)، اور رات کی ابتدائی ساعتوں میں (یعنی مغرب اور عشاء میں) بھی تسبیح کیا کریں اور دن کے کناروں پر بھی (نمازِ ظہر میں جب دن کا نصفِ اوّل ختم اور نصفِ ثانی شروع ہوتا ہے، (اے حبیبِ مکرّم! یہ سب کچھ اس لئے ہے) تاکہ آپ راضی ہو جائیں

— English

So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied.

Wa-ismaAAeela wa-idreesa wathaalkifli kullun mina assabireen

لِّـكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ جَعَلۡنَا مَنۡسَكًا هُمۡ نَاسِكُوۡهُ‌ فَلَا يُنَازِعُنَّكَ فِىۡ الۡاَمۡرِ‌ؕ وَادۡعُ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ‌ؕ اِنَّكَ لَعَلٰى هُدًى مُّسۡتَقِيۡمٍ‏ 

— Transliteration

Likulli ommatin jaAAalna mansakan humnasikoohu fala yunaziAAunnaka fee al-amri wadAAuila rabbika innaka laAAala hudan mustaqeem

Urdu —

ہم نے ہر ایک امت کے لئے (احکامِ شریعت یا عبادت و قربانی کی) ایک راہ مقرر کر دی ہے، انہیں اسی پر چلنا ہے، سو یہ لوگ آپ سے ہرگز (اﷲ کے) حکم میں جھگڑا نہ کریں، اور آپ اپنے رب کی طرف بلاتے رہیں۔ بیشک آپ ہی سیدھی (راہِ) ہدایت پر ہیں

— English

For every religion We have appointed rites which they perform. So, [O Muhammad], let the disbelievers not contend with you over the matter but invite them to your Lord. Indeed, you are upon straight guidance.

وَاِنۡ جٰدَلُوۡكَ فَقُلِ اللّٰهُ اَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wa-in jadalooka faquli AllahuaAAlamu bima taAAmaloon

Word By Word —

wa-in

And if

اور اگر وہ

jādalūka

they argue (with) you

جھگڑا کریں تجھ سے

faquli

then say

تو کہہ دیجیے کہ

(is) most knowing

اگر وہ آپ سے جھگڑا کریں تو آپ فرما دیجئے: اﷲ بہتر جانتا ہے جو کچھ تم کر رہے ہو

And if they dispute with you, then say, "Allah is most knowing of what you do.

الَّذِيۡنَ اِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّٰهُ وَجِلَتۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ وَالصّٰبِرِيۡنَ عَلٰى مَاۤ اَصَابَهُمۡ وَالۡمُقِيۡمِىۡ الصَّلٰوةِۙ وَمِمَّا رَزَقۡنٰهُمۡ يُنۡفِقُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Allatheena itha thukiraAllahu wajilat quloobuhum wassabireenaAAala ma asabahum walmuqeemee assalatiwamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoon

they spend

وہ خرچ کرتے ہیں

Urdu —

(یہ) وہ لوگ ہیں کہ جب اﷲ کا ذکر کیا جاتا ہے (تو) ان کے دل ڈرنے لگتے ہیں اور جو مصیبتیں انہیں پہنچتی ہیں ان پر صبر کرتے ہیں اور نماز قائم رکھنے والے ہیں اور جو کچھ ہم نے انہیں عطا فرمایا ہے اس میں سے خرچ کرتے ہیں

— English

Who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts are fearful, and [to] the patient over what has afflicted them, and the establishers of prayer and those who spend from what We have provided them.

MakkiSerial: Revelation: 74Verses: 118Parah: 18Rukus: 6Sajda: ---

وَلَا نُـكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا اِلَّا وُسۡعَهَا‌ وَلَدَيۡنَا كِتٰبٌ يَّـنۡطِقُ بِالۡحَـقِّ‌ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wala nukallifu nafsan illawusAAaha waladayna kitabun yantiqu bilhaqqiwahum la yuthlamoon

We burden

ہم تکلیف دیتے

کسی جان کو

be wronged

ظلم کیے جائیں گے

Urdu —

اور ہم کسی جان کو تکلیف نہیں دیتے مگر اس کی استعداد کے مطابق اور ہمارے پاس نوشتۂ (اَعمال موجود) ہے جو سچ سچ کہہ دے گا اور ان پر ظلم نہیں کیا جائے گا

— English

And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged.

اِنِّىۡ جَزَيۡتُهُمُ الۡيَوۡمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوۡۤاۙ اَنَّهُمۡ هُمُ الۡفَآٮِٕزُوۡنَ‏ 

Innee jazaytuhumu alyawma bima sabarooannahum humu alfa-izoon

Indeed, I have rewarded them this Day for their patient endurance - that they are the attainers [of success]."

وَمَاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا قَبۡلَكَ مِنَ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَ اِلَّاۤ اِنَّهُمۡ لَيَاۡكُلُوۡنَ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمۡشُوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡاَسۡوَاقِ‌ؕ وَجَعَلۡنَا بَعۡضَكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ فِتۡنَةً ؕ اَتَصۡبِرُوۡنَ‌ۚ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ بَصِيۡرًا‏ 

— Transliteration

Wama arsalna qablaka minaalmursaleena illa innahum laya/kuloona attaAAamawayamshoona fee al-aswaqi wajaAAalna baAAdakumlibaAAdin fitnatan atasbiroona wakanarabbuka baseera

a trial

آزمائش

ataṣbirūna

will you have patience

کیا تم صبر کرو گے

wakāna

And is

اور ہے

rabbuka

your Lord

رب تیرا

baṣīran

All-Seer

دیکھنے والا

Urdu —

اور ہم نے آپ سے پہلے رسول نہیں بھیجے مگر (یہ کہ) وہ کھانا (بھی) یقیناً کھاتے تھے اور بازاروں میں بھی (حسبِ ضرورت) چلتے پھرتے تھے اور ہم نے تم کو ایک دوسرے کے لئے آزمائش بنایا ہے، کیا تم (آزمائش پر) صبر کرو گے؟ اور آپ کا رب خوب دیکھنے والا ہےo

— English

And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing.

— Transliteration

Ola-ika yujzawna alghurfata bimasabaroo wayulaqqawna feeha tahiyyatan wasalama

will be awarded

جزاپائیں گے

the Chamber

بلند منزل کی

and they will be met

اور وہ حاصل کریں گے۔ ڈالے جائیں گے

دعائے خیر

and peace

اور سلام

Urdu —

انہی لوگوں کو (جنت میں) بلند ترین محلات ان کے صبر کرنے کی جزا کے طور پر بخشے جائیں گے اور وہاں دعائے خیر اور سلام کے ساتھ ان کا استقبال کیا جائے گاo

Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace.

— Transliteration

Ola-ika yu/tawna ajrahum marrataynibima sabaroo wayadraoona bilhasanatiassayyi-ata wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqoon

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جنہیں ان کا اجر دوبار دیا جائے گا اس وجہ سے کہ انہوں نے صبر کیا اور وہ برائی کو بھلائی کے ذریعے دفع کرتے ہیں اور اس عطا میں سے جو ہم نے انہیں بخشی خرچ کرتے ہیں

— English

Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend.

— Transliteration

Waqala allatheena ootooalAAilma waylakum thawabu Allahi khayrun liman amanawaAAamila salihan wala yulaqqahailla assabiroon

صبر کرنے والوں کو

Urdu —

اور (دوسری طرف) وہ لوگ جنہیں علمِ (حق) دیا گیا تھا بول اٹھے: تم پر افسوس ہے اللہ کا ثواب اس شخص کے لئے (اس دولت و زینت سے کہیں زیادہ) بہتر ہے جو ایمان لایا ہو اور نیک عمل کرتا ہو، مگر یہ (اجر و ثواب) صبر کرنے والوں کے سوا کسی کو عطا نہیں کیا جائے گا

— English

But those who had been given knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of Allah is better for he who believes and does righteousness. And none are granted it except the patient."

پس آپ صبر کیجئے، بیشک اﷲ کا وعدہ سچا ہے، جو لوگ یقین نہیں رکھتے کہیں (ان کی گمراہی کا غم اور ہدایت کی فکر) آپ کو کمزور ہی نہ کر دیں۔ (اے جانِ جہاں! ان کے کفر کو غمِ جاں نہ بنا لیں)

— English

So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And let them not disquiet you who are not certain [in faith].

يٰبُنَىَّ اَقِمِ الصَّلٰوةَ وَاۡمُرۡ بِالۡمَعۡرُوۡفِ وَانۡهَ عَنِ الۡمُنۡكَرِ وَاصۡبِرۡ عَلٰى مَاۤ اَصَابَكَ‌ؕ اِنَّ ذٰلِكَ مِنۡ عَزۡمِ الۡاُمُوۡرِ‌ۚ ‏ 

Ya bunayya aqimi assalatawa/mur bilmaAAroofi wanha AAani almunkari wasbirAAala ma asabaka inna thalika minAAazmi al-omoor

اے میرے فرزند! تو نماز قائم رکھ اور نیکی کا حکم دے اور برائی سے منع کر اور جو تکلیف تجھے پہنچے اس پر صبر کر، بیشک یہ بڑی ہمت کے کام ہیں

— English

O my son, establish prayer, enjoin what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you. Indeed, [all] that is of the matters [requiring] determination.

کیا آپ نے نہیں دیکھا کہ کشتیاں سمندر میں اﷲ کی نعمت سے چلتی ہیں تاکہ وہ تمہیں اپنی کچھ نشانیاں دکھا دے۔ بیشک اس میں ہر بڑے صابر و شاکر کے لئے نشانیاں ہیں

— English

Do you not see that ships sail through the sea by the favor of Allah that He may show you of His signs? Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

— Transliteration

WajaAAalna minhum a-immatan yahdoonabi-amrina lamma sabaroo wakanoo bi-ayatinayooqinoon

And We made

And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs.

— Transliteration

Inna almuslimeena walmuslimatiwalmu/mineena walmu/minati walqaniteenawalqanitati wassadiqeena wassadiqatiwassabireena wassabiratiwalkhashiAAeena walkhashiAAatiwalmutasaddiqeena walmutasaddiqatiwassa-imeena wassa-imatiwalhafitheena furoojahum walhafithatiwaththakireena Allaha katheeran waththakiratiaAAadda Allahu lahum maghfiratan waajran AAatheema

and the men who guard

حفاظت کرنے والے

furūjahum

their chastity

اپنی شرم گاہوں کی

wal-ḥāfiẓāti

and the women who guard (it)

and the men who remember

اور ذکر کرنے والے

Allah

اللہ کا

Allah has prepared

تیار کررکھا ہے

بیشک مسلمان مرد اور مسلمان عورتیں، اور مومن مَرد اور مومن عورتیں، اور فرمانبردار مرد اور فرمانبردار عورتیں، اور صدق والے مرد اور صدق والی عورتیں، اور صبر والے مرد اور صبر والی عورتیں، اور عاجزی والے مرد اور عاجزی والی عورتیں، اور صدقہ و خیرات کرنے والے مرد اور صدقہ و خیرات کرنے والی عورتیں اور روزہ دار مرد اور روزہ دار عورتیں، اور اپنی شرم گاہوں کی حفاظت کرنے والے مرد اور حفاظت کرنے والی عورتیں، اور کثرت سے اللہ کا ذکر کرنے والے مرد اور ذکر کرنے والی عورتیں، اللہ نے اِن سب کے لئے بخشِش اور عظیم اجر تیار فرما رکھا ہے

Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.

فَقَالُوۡا رَبَّنَا بٰعِدۡ بَيۡنَ اَسۡفَارِنَا وَظَلَمُوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَهُمۡ فَجَعَلۡنٰهُمۡ اَحَادِيۡثَ وَمَزَّقۡنٰهُمۡ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوۡرٍ‏ 

— Transliteration

Faqaloo rabbana baAAidbayna asfarina wathalamoo anfusahumfajaAAalnahum ahadeetha wamazzaqnahum kullamumazzaqin inna fee thalika laayatin likullisabbarin shakoor

Indeed,

یقینا

اس (میں)

surely (are) Signs

البتہ نشانیاں ہیں

for everyone

واسطے ہر

بہت صبر کرنے والے

(and) grateful

شکر گزار کے

Urdu —

تو وہ کہنے لگے: اے ہمارے رب! ہماری منازلِ سفر کے درمیان فاصلے پیدا کر دے، اور انہوں نے اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کیا تو ہم نے انہیں (عبرت کے) فسانے بنا دیا اور ہم نے انہیں ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر کے منتشر کر دیا۔ بیشک اس میں بہت صابر اور نہایت شکر گزار شخص کے لئے نشانیاں ہیں

— English

But [insolently] they said, "Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys," and wronged themselves, so We made them narrations and dispersed them in total dispersion. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

MakkiSerial: Revelation: 43Verses: 45Parah: 22Rukus: 5Sajda: ---

وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرَىٰؕ وَاِنۡ تَدۡعُ مُثۡقَلَةٌ اِلٰى حِمۡلِهَا لَا يُحۡمَلۡ مِنۡهُ شَىۡءٌ وَّلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبٰى ؕ اِنَّمَا تُنۡذِرُ الَّذِيۡنَ يَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ بِالۡغَيۡبِ وَاَقَامُوۡا الصَّلٰوةَ ؕ وَمَنۡ تَزَكّٰى فَاِنَّمَا يَتَزَكّٰى لِنَفۡسِه ؕ وَاِلَى اللّٰهِ الۡمَصِيۡرُ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wala taziru waziratun wizraokhra wa-in tadAAu muthqalatun ila himlihala yuhmal minhu shay-on walaw kana thaqurba innama tunthiru allatheenayakhshawna rabbahum bilghaybi waaqamoo assalatawaman tazakka fa-innama yatazakka linafsihiwa-ila Allahi almaseer

اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا دوسرے کا بارِ (گناہ) نہ اٹھا سکے گا، اور کوئی بوجھ میں دبا ہوا (دوسرے کو) اپنا بوجھ بٹانے کے لئے بلائے گا تو اس سے کچھ بھی بوجھ نہ اٹھایا جا سکے گا خواہ قریبی رشتہ دار ہی ہو، (اے حبیب!) آپ ان ہی لوگوں کو ڈر سناتے ہیں جو اپنے رب سے بن دیکھے ڈرتے ہیں اور نماز قائم کرتے ہیں، اور جو کوئی پاکیزگی حاصل کرتا ہے وہ اپنے ہی فائدہ کے لئے پاک ہوتا ہے، اور اﷲ ہی کی طرف پلٹ کر جانا ہے

— English

And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allah is the [final] destination.

— Transliteration

Falamma balagha maAAahu assaAAyaqala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanamiannee athbahuka fanthur mathatara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tu/marusatajidunee in shaa Allahu mina assabireen

Urdu —

پھر جب وہ (اسماعیل علیہ السلام) ان کے ساتھ دوڑ کر چل سکنے (کی عمر) کو پہنچ گیا تو (ابراہیم علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: اے میرے بیٹے! میں خواب میں دیکھتا ہوں کہ میں تجھے ذبح کررہا ہوں سو غور کرو کہ تمہاری کیا رائے ہے۔ (اسماعیل علیہ السلام نے) کہا: ابّاجان! وہ کام (فوراً) کر ڈالیے جس کا آپ کو حکم دیا جا رہا ہے۔ اگر اﷲ نے چاہا تو آپ مجھے صبر کرنے والوں میں سے پائیں گے

And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."

(اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) جو کچھ وہ کہتے ہیں آپ اس پر صبر جاری رکھیئے اور ہمارے بندے داؤد (علیہ السلام) کا ذکر کریں جو بڑی قوت والے تھے، بے شک وہ (ہماری طرف) بہت رجوع کرنے والے تھےo

Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allah].

— Transliteration

Wakhuth biyadika dighthan fadribbihi wala tahnath inna wajadnahu sabiranniAAma alAAabdu innahu awwab

(اے ایوب!) تم اپنے ہاتھ میں (سَو) تنکوں کی جھاڑو پکڑ لو اور (اپنی قسم پوری کرنے کے لئے) اس سے (ایک بار اپنی زوجہ کو) مارو اور قسم نہ توڑو، بے شک ہم نے اسے ثابت قدم پایا، (ایّوب علیہ السلام) کیا خوب بندہ تھا، بے شک وہ (ہماری طرف) بہت رجوع کرنے والا تھاo

— English

[We said], "And take in your hand a bunch [of grass] and strike with it and do not break your oath." Indeed, We found him patient, an excellent servant. Indeed, he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah].

اِنۡ تَكۡفُرُوۡا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنۡكُمۡ‌ وَلَا يَرۡضَىٰ لِعِبَادِهِ الۡكُفۡرَ‌ۚ وَاِنۡ تَشۡكُرُوۡا يَرۡضَهُ لَـكُمۡ‌ؕ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرٰى‌ؕ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكُمۡ مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمۡ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ‌ؕ اِنَّهٗ عَلِيۡمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوۡرِ‏ 

— Transliteration

In takfuroo fa-inna Allaha ghaniyyunAAankum wala yarda liAAibadihi alkufra wa-intashkuroo yardahu lakum wala taziru waziratunwizra okhra thumma ila rabbikum marjiAAukumfayunabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloona innahu AAaleemun bithatiassudoor

لوٹنا ہے تمہارا

then He will inform you

پھر وہ بتائے گا تم کو

you used to

تم عمل کرتے

Indeed, He

بیشک

ʿalīmun

(is) the All-Knower

وہ جاننے والا ہے

**of what (is) in the breasts.

of what (is) in the breasts

سینوں کے

Urdu —

اگر تم کفر کرو تو بے شک اللہ تم سے بے نیاز ہے اور وہ اپنے بندوں کے لئے کفر (و ناشکری) پسند نہیں کرتا، اور اگر تم شکرگزاری کرو (تو) اسے تمہارے لئے پسند فرماتا ہے، اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا کسی دوسرے کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گا، پھر تمہیں اپنے رب کی طرف لوٹنا ہے پھر وہ تمہیں اُن کاموں سے خبردار کر دے گا جو تم کرتے رہے تھے، بے شک وہ سینوں کی (پوشیدہ) باتوں کو (بھی) خوب جاننے والا ہے

— English

If you disbelieve - indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

قُلۡ يٰعِبَادِ الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا اتَّقُوۡا رَبَّكُمۡ‌ؕ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اَحۡسَنُوۡا فِىۡ هٰذِهِ الدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةٌ ‌ ؕ وَاَرۡضُ اللّٰهِ وَاسِعَةٌ ‌ ؕ اِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصّٰبِرُوۡنَ اَجۡرَهُمۡ بِغَيۡرِ حِسَابٍ‏ 

— Transliteration

Qul ya AAibadi allatheenaamanoo ittaqoo rabbakum lillatheena ahsanoofee hathihi addunya hasanatun waarduAllahi wasiAAatun innama yuwaffa assabiroonaajrahum bighayri hisab

— English

Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."

فَاصۡبِرۡ اِنَّ وَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ وَّاسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۡۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ بِالۡعَشِىِّ وَالۡاِبۡكَارِ‏ 

— Transliteration

Fasbir inna waAAda Allahihaqqun wastaghfir lithanbika wasabbihbihamdi rabbika bilAAashiyyi wal-ibkar

پس آپ صبر کیجئے، بے شک اللہ کا وعدہ حق ہے اور اپنی اُمت کے گناہوں کی بخشش طلب کیجئے٭ اور صبح و شام اپنے رب کی حمد کے ساتھ تسبیح کیا کیجئے

— English

So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning.

Al-GhaafirThe Forgiver040surahبخشنے والا

MakkiSerial: Revelation: 60Verses: 85Parah: 24Rukus: 9Sajda: ---

فَاصۡبِرۡ اِنَّ وَعۡدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّ ۚ فَاِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعۡضَ الَّذِىۡ نَعِدُهُمۡ اَوۡ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَاِلَيۡنَا يُرۡجَعُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Fasbir inna waAAda Allahihaqqun fa-imma nuriyannaka baAAda allatheenaAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-ilayna yurjaAAoon

ہم فوت کردیں آپ کو

fa-ilaynā

then to Us

تو ہماری طرف ہی

yur'jaʿūna

they will be returned

وہ سب لوٹائے جائیں گے

Urdu —

پس آپ صبر کیجئے بے شک اﷲ کا وعدہ سچّا ہے، پھر اگر ہم آپ کو اس (عذاب) کا کچھ حصّہ دکھا دیں جس کا ہم اُن سے وعدہ کر رہے ہیں یا ہم آپ کو (اس سے قبل) وفات دے دیں تو (دونوں صورتوں میں) وہ ہماری ہی طرف لوٹائے جائیں گے

So be patient, [O Muhammad]; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned.

— Transliteration

Fa-in yasbiroo fannarumathwan lahum wa-in yastaAAtiboo fama hum minaalmuAAtabeen

Urdu —

اب اگر وہ صبر کریں تب بھی ان کا ٹھکانا دوزخ ہے، اور اگر وہ (توبہ کے ذریعے اﷲ کی) رضا حاصل کرنا چاہیں تو بھی وہ رضا پانے والوں میں نہیں ہوں گے

— English

So [even] if they are patient, the Fire is a residence for them; and if they ask to appease [Allah], they will not be of those who are allowed to appease.

But none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one having a great portion [of good].

اِنۡ يَّشَاۡ يُسۡكِنِ الرِّيۡحَ فَيَظۡلَلۡنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلٰى ظَهۡرِهٖؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّـكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوۡرٍۙ‏ 

— Transliteration

In yasha/ yuskini arreehafayathlalna rawakida AAala thahrihiinna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarinshakoor

اگر وہ چاہے ہوا کو بالکل ساکِن کر دے تو کشتیاں سطحِ سمندر پر رُکی رہ جائیں، بیشک اس میں ہر صبر شعار و شکر گزار کے لئے نشانیاں ہیں

— English

If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

فَاصۡبِرۡ كَمَا صَبَرَ اُولُوۡا الۡعَزۡمِ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ وَلَا تَسۡتَعۡجِل لَّهُمۡ‌ؕ كَاَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡن مَا يُوۡعَدُوۡنَۙ لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوۡۤا اِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّنۡ نَّهَارٍ ‌ؕ بَلٰغٌ ۚ فَهَلۡ يُهۡلَكُ اِلَّا الۡقَوۡمُ الۡفٰسِقُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Fasbir kama sabaraoloo alAAazmi mina arrusuli wala tastaAAjil lahumkaannahum yawma yarawna ma yooAAadoona lam yalbathoo illasaAAatan min naharin balaghun fahal yuhlakuilla alqawmu alfasiqoon

As if they had,

they see

وہ دیکھیں گے

اسے جو

yūʿadūna

they were promised

وہ وعدہ دیئے جاتے ہیں

lam

not

نہیں

yalbathū

remained

وہ ٹھہریں گے

illā

except

مگر

sāʿatan

an hour

ایک گھڑی

min

سے

nahārin

a day

دن میں (سے)

balāghun

A notification

پیغام پہنچانا ہے

fahal

But will

تو نہیں

yuh'laku

(any) be destroyed

ہلاک کی جائے گی

illā

except

مگر

l-qawmu

the people

قوم

l-fāsiqūna

the defiantly disobedient

فاسق

Urdu —

(اے حبیب!) پس آپ صبر کئے جائیں جس طرح (دوسرے) عالی ہمّت پیغمبروں نے صبر کیا تھا اور آپ ان (منکروں) کے لئے (طلبِ عذاب میں) جلدی نہ فرمائیں، جس دن وہ اس (عذابِ آخرت) کو دیکھیں گے جس کا ان سے وعدہ کیا جا رہا ہے تو (خیال کریں گے) گویا وہ (دنیا میں) دن کی ایک گھڑی کے سوا ٹھہرے ہی نہیں تھے، (یہ اﷲ کی طرف سے) پیغام کا پہنچایا جانا ہے، نافرمان قوم کے سوا دیگر لوگ ہلاک نہیں کئے جائیں گےo

— English

So be patient, [O Muhammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them. It will be - on the Day they see that which they are promised - as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people?

— Transliteration

Walanabluwannakum hattanaAAlama almujahideena minkum wassabireenawanabluwa akhbarakum

And surely We will test you

اور البتہ ہم ضرور آزمائیں گے تم کو

We make evident

those who strive

wal-ṣābirīna

and the patient ones

اور صبر کرنے والوں کو

and We will test

اور ہم آزمائیں

akhbārakum

your affairs

تمہاری خبروں کو۔ حالات کو

Urdu —

اور ہم ضرور تمہاری آزمائش کریں گے یہاں تک کہ تم میں سے (ثابت قدمی کے ساتھ) جہاد کرنے والوں اور صبر کرنے والوں کو (بھی) ظاہر کر دیں اور تمہاری (منافقانہ بزدلی کی مخفی) خبریں (بھی) ظاہر کر دیںo

— English

And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allah] and the patient, and We will test your affairs.

Wasbir lihukmi rabbikafa-innaka bi-aAAyunina wasabbih bihamdirabbika heena taqoom

you arise

آپ کھڑے ہوتے ہیں

Urdu —

اور (اے حبیبِ مکرّم! اِن کی باتوں سے غم زدہ نہ ہوں) آپ اپنے رب کے حکم کی خاطر صبر جاری رکھئے بیشک آپ (ہر وقت) ہماری آنکھوں کے سامنے (رہتے) ہیں٭ اور آپ اپنے رب کی حمد کے ساتھ تسبیح کیجئے جب بھی آپ کھڑے ہوںo

— English

And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise.

Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient.

پس آپ اپنے رب کے حکم کے انتظار میں صبر فرمائیے اور مچھلی والے (پیغمبر یونس علیہ السلام) کی طرح (دل گرفتہ) نہ ہوں، جب انہوں نے (اللہ کو) پکارا اس حال میں کہ وہ (اپنی قوم پر) غم و غصہ سے بھرے ہوئے تھےo

— English

Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed.
