اَلَمۡ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِىۡ حَآجَّ اِبۡرٰهٖمَ فِىۡ رَبِّهٖۤ اَنۡ اٰتٰٮهُ اللّٰهُ الۡمُلۡكَۘ اِذۡ قَالَ اِبۡرٰهٖمُ رَبِّىَ الَّذِىۡ يُحۡىٖ وَيُمِيۡتُۙ قَالَ اَنَا اُحۡىٖ وَاُمِيۡتُؕ قَالَ اِبۡرٰهٖمُ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَاۡتِىۡ بِالشَّمۡسِ مِنَ الۡمَشۡرِقِ فَاۡتِ بِهَا مِنَ الۡمَغۡرِبِ فَبُهِتَ الَّذِىۡ كَفَرَؕ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهۡدِىۡ الۡقَوۡمَ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَۚ
— Transliteration
Alam tara ila allathee hajjaibraheema fee rabbihi an atahu Allahualmulka ith qala ibraheemu rabbiya allatheeyuhyee wayumeetu qala ana ohyeewaomeetu qala ibraheemu fa-inna Allahaya/tee bishshamsi mina almashriqi fa/ti biha minaalmaghribi fabuhita allathee kafara wallahula yahdee alqawma aththalimeen

(اے حبیب!) کیا آپ نے اس شخص کو نہیں دیکھا جو اس وجہ سے کہ اﷲ نے اسے سلطنت دی تھی ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) سے (خود) اپنے رب (ہی) کے بارے میں جھگڑا کرنے لگا، جب ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: میرا رب وہ ہے جو زندہ (بھی) کرتا ہے اور مارتا (بھی) ہے، تو (جواباً) کہنے لگا: میں (بھی) زندہ کرتا ہوں اور مارتا ہوں، ابراہیم (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: بیشک اﷲ سورج کو مشرق کی طرف سے نکالتا ہے تُو اسے مغرب کی طرف سے نکال لا! سو وہ کافر دہشت زدہ ہو گیا، اور اﷲ ظالم قوم کو حق کی راہ نہیں دکھاتا

Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

Inna rabbakumu Allahu allatheekhalaqa assamawati wal-ardafee sittati ayyamin thumma istawa AAalaalAAarshi yughshee allayla annahara yatlubuhuhatheethan washshamsa walqamara wannujoomamusakhkharatin bi-amrihi ala lahu alkhalqu wal-amrutabaraka Allahu rabbu alAAalameen

بیشک تمہارا رب اﷲ ہے جس نے آسمانوں اور زمین (کی کائنات) کو چھ مدتوں (یعنی چھ اَدوار) میں پیدا فرمایا پھر (اپنی شان کے مطابق) عرش پر استواء (یعنی اس کائنات میں اپنے حکم و اقتدار کے نظام کا اجراء) فرمایا۔ وہی رات سے دن کو ڈھانک دیتا ہے (درآنحالیکہ دن رات میں سے) ہر ایک دوسرے کے تعاقب میں تیزی سے لگا رہتا ہے اور سورج اور چاند اور ستارے (سب) اسی کے حکم (سے ایک نظام) کے پابند بنا دیئے گئے ہیں۔ خبردار! Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds.

It is Allah who erected the heavens without pillars that you [can] see; then He established Himself above the Throne and made subject the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Watara ashshamsa itha talaAAattazawaru AAan kahfihim thata alyameeni wa-ithagharabat taqriduhum thata ashshimaliwahum fee fajwatin minhu thalika min ayatiAllahi man yahdi Allahu fahuwa almuhtadi waman yudlilfalan tajida lahu waliyyan murshida

اور آپ دیکھتے ہیں جب سورج طلوع ہوتا ہے تو ان کے غار سے دائیں جانب ہٹ جاتا ہے اور جب غروب ہونے لگتا ہے تو ان سے بائیں جانب کترا جاتا ہے اور وہ اس غار کے کشادہ میدان میں (لیٹے) ہیں، یہ (سورج کا اپنے راستے کو بدل لینا) اﷲ کی (قدرت کی بڑی) نشانیوں میں سے ہے، جسے اﷲ ہدایت فرما دے سو وہی ہدایت یافتہ ہے، اور جسے وہ گمراہ ٹھہرا دے تو آپ اس کے لئے کوئی ولی مرشد (یعنی راہ دکھانے والا مددگار) نہیں پائیں گے

And [had you been present], you would see the sun when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they were [laying] within an open space thereof. That was from the signs of Allah. He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray - never will you find for him a protecting guide.

Hatta itha balaghamaghriba ashshamsi wajadaha taghrubu fee AAaynin hami-atinwawajada AAindaha qawman qulna ya thaalqarnayni imma an tuAAaththiba wa-imma antattakhitha feehim husna

یہاں تک کہ وہ غروبِ آفتاب (کی سمت آبادی) کے آخری کنارے پر جا پہنچا وہاں اس نے سورج کے غروب کے منظر کو ایسے محسوس کیا جیسے وہ (کیچڑ کی طرح سیاہ رنگ) پانی کے گرم چشمہ میں ڈوب رہا ہو اور اس نے وہاں ایک قوم کو (آباد) پایا۔ ہم نے فرمایا: اے ذوالقرنین! (یہ تمہاری مرضی پر منحصر ہے) خواہ تم انہیں سزا دو یا ان کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرو

Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness."

فَاصۡبِرۡ عَلٰى مَا يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ قَبۡلَ طُلُوۡعِ الشَّمۡسِ وَقَبۡلَ غُرُوۡبِهَاۚ وَمِنۡ اٰنَآىِٕ الَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡ وَاَطۡرَافَ النَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرۡضٰى
— Transliteration
Fasbir AAala mayaqooloona wasabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tulooAAiashshamsi waqabla ghuroobiha wamin ana-iallayli fasabbih waatrafa annaharilaAAallaka tarda

پس آپ ان کی (دل آزار) باتوں پر صبر فرمایا کریں اور اپنے رب کی حمد کے ساتھ تسبیح کیا کریں طلوعِ آفتاب سے پہلے (نمازِ فجر میں) اور اس کے غروب سے قبل (نمازِ عصر میں)، اور رات کی ابتدائی ساعتوں میں (یعنی مغرب اور عشاء میں) بھی تسبیح کیا کریں اور دن کے کناروں پر بھی (نمازِ ظہر میں جب دن کا نصفِ اوّل ختم اور نصفِ ثانی شروع ہوتا ہے، (اے حبیبِ مکرّم! یہ سب کچھ اس لئے ہے) تاکہ آپ راضی ہو جائیں

So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied.

Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people? But upon many the punishment has been justified. And he whom Allah humiliates - for him there is no bestower of honor. Indeed, Allah does what He wills.

He causes the night to enter the day, and He causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon - each running [its course] for a specified term. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed.
