قَاتِلُوا الَّذِيۡنَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَلَا بِالۡيَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُوۡنَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ وَرَسُوۡلُهٗ وَلَا يَدِيۡنُوۡنَ دِيۡنَ الۡحَـقِّ مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوا الۡـكِتٰبَ حَتّٰى يُعۡطُوۡا الۡجِزۡيَةَ عَنۡ يَّدٍ وَّهُمۡ صَاغِرُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Qatiloo allatheena layu/minoona billahi wala bilyawmial-akhiri wala yuharrimoona ma harramaAllahu warasooluhu wala yadeenoona deena alhaqqimina allatheena ootoo alkitaba hattayuAAtoo aljizyata AAan yadin wahum saghiroon

(اے مسلمانو!) تم اہلِ کتاب میں سے ان لوگوں کے ساتھ (بھی) جنگ کرو جو نہ اللہ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں نہ یومِ آخرت پر اور نہ ان چیزوں کو حرام جانتے ہیں جنہیں اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے حرام قرار دیا ہے اور نہ ہی دینِ حق (یعنی اسلام) اختیار کرتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ وہ (حکمِ اسلام کے سامنے) تابع و مغلوب ہو کر اپنے ہاتھ سے خراج ادا کریں

Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.

وَمِنۡهُمۡ مَّنۡ عٰهَدَ اللّٰهَ لَٮِٕنۡ اٰتٰٮنَا مِنۡ فَضۡلِهٖ لَـنَصَّدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الصّٰلِحِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Waminhum man AAahada Allahala-in atana min fadlihi lanassaddaqannawalanakoonanna mina assaliheen

اور ان (منافقوں) میں (بعض) وہ بھی ہیں جنہوں نے اللہ سے عہد کیا تھا کہ اگر اس نے ہمیں اپنے فضل سے (دولت) عطا فرمائی تو ہم ضرور (اس کی ر اہ میں) خیرات کریں گے اور ہم ضرور نیکو کاروں میں سے ہو جائیں گے

And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah, [saying], "If He should give us from His bounty, we will surely spend in charity, and we will surely be among the righteous."
فَلَمَّاۤ اٰتٰٮهُمۡ مِّنۡ فَضۡلِهٖ بَخِلُوۡا بِهٖ وَتَوَلَّوْا وَّهُمۡ مُّعۡرِضُوۡنَ

Falamma atahum min fadlihibakhiloo bihi watawallaw wahum muAAridoon

پس جب اس نے انہیں اپنے فضل سے (دولت) بخشی (تو) وہ اس میں بخل کرنے لگے اور وہ (اپنے عہد سے) روگردانی کرتے ہوئے پھر گئے

فَرِحَ الۡمُخَلَّفُوۡنَ بِمَقۡعَدِهِمۡ خِلٰفَ رَسُوۡلِ اللّٰهِ وَكَرِهُوۡۤا اَنۡ يُّجَاهِدُوۡا بِاَمۡوَالِهِمۡ وَاَنۡفُسِهِمۡ فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ وَقَالُوۡا لَا تَنۡفِرُوۡا فِى الۡحَـرِّؕ قُلۡ نَارُ جَهَـنَّمَ اَشَدُّ حَرًّاؕ لَوۡ كَانُوۡا يَفۡقَهُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Fariha almukhallafoona bimaqAAadihimkhilafa rasooli Allahi wakarihoo an yujahidoobi-amwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahi waqaloola tanfiroo fee alharri qul naru jahannamaashaddu harran law kanoo yafqahoon

رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی مخالفت کے باعث (جہاد سے) پیچھے رہ جانے والے (یہ منافق) اپنے بیٹھ رہنے پر خوش ہو رہے ہیں وہ اس بات کو ناپسند کرتے تھے کہ اپنے مالوں اور اپنی جانوں سے اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کریں اور کہتے تھے کہ اس گرمی میں نہ نکلو، فرما دیجئے: دوزخ کی آگ سب سے زیادہ گرم ہے، اگر وہ سمجھتے ہوتے (تو کیا ہی اچھا ہوتا

Those who remained behind rejoiced in their staying [at home] after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allah and disliked to strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allah and said, "Do not go forth in the heat." Say, "The fire of Hell is more intensive in heat" - if they would but understand.

فَاِنۡ رَّجَعَكَ اللّٰهُ اِلٰى طَآٮِٕفَةٍ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَاسۡتَـاْذَنُوۡكَ لِلۡخُرُوۡجِ فَقُل لَّنۡ تَخۡرُجُوۡا مَعِىَ اَبَدًا وَّلَنۡ تُقَاتِلُوۡا مَعِىَ عَدُوًّاؕ اِنَّكُمۡ رَضِيۡتُمۡ بِالۡقُعُوۡدِ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ فَاقۡعُدُوۡا مَعَ الۡخٰلـِفِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Fa-in rajaAAaka Allahu ila ta-ifatinminhum fasta/thanooka lilkhurooji faqul lantakhrujoo maAAiya abadan walan tuqatiloo maAAiya AAaduwwaninnakum radeetum bilquAAoodi awwala marratin faqAAudoomaAAa alkhalifeen

پس (اے حبیب!) اگر اللہ آپ کو (غزوۂ تبوک سے فارغ ہونے کے بعد) ان (منافقین) میں سے کسی گروہ کی طرف دوبارہ واپس لے جائے اور وہ آپ سے (آئندہ کسی اور غزوہ کے موقع پر جہاد کے لئے) نکلنے کی اجازت چاہیں تو ان سے فرما دیجئے گا کہ (اب) تم میرے ساتھ کبھی بھی ہرگز نہ نکلنا اور تم میرے ساتھ ہو کر کبھی بھی ہرگز دشمن سے جنگ نہ کرنا (کیونکہ) تم پہلی مرتبہ (جہاد چھوڑ کر) پیچھے بیٹھے رہنے سے خوش ہوئے تھے سو (اب بھی) پیچھے بیٹھے رہ جانے والوں کے ساتھ بیٹھے رہو

If Allah should return you to a faction of them [after the expedition] and then they ask your permission to go out [to battle], say, "You will not go out with me, ever, and you will never fight with me an enemy. Indeed, you were satisfied with sitting [at home] the first time, so sit [now] with those who stay behind."

وَاٰخَرُوۡنَ اعۡتَرَفُوۡا بِذُنُوۡبِهِمۡ خَلَطُوۡا عَمَلاً صَالِحًـا وَّاٰخَرَ سَيِّئًاؕ عَسَى اللّٰهُ اَنۡ يَّتُوۡبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ
— Transliteration
Waakharoona iAAtarafoo bithunoobihimkhalatoo AAamalan salihan waakharasayyi-an AAasa Allahu an yatooba AAalayhim inna Allahaghafoorun raheem

اور دوسرے وہ لو گ کہ (جنہوں نے) اپنے گناہوں کا اعتراف کر لیا ہے انہوں نے کچھ نیک عمل اور دوسرے برے کاموں کو (غلطی سے) ملا جلا دیا ہے، قریب ہے کہ اﷲ ان کی توبہ قبول فرمالے، بیشک اﷲ بڑا بخشنے والا نہایت مہربان ہے

And [there are] others who have acknowledged their sins. They had mixed a righteous deed with another that was bad. Perhaps Allah will turn to them in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
