فَاِنۡ لَّمۡ تَفۡعَلُوۡا فَاۡذَنُوۡا بِحَرۡبٍ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ وَرَسُوۡلِهٖۚ وَاِنۡ تُبۡتُمۡ فَلَـكُمۡ رُءُوۡسُ اَمۡوَالِكُمۡۚ لَا تَظۡلِمُوۡنَ وَلَا تُظۡلَمُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Fa-in lam tafAAaloo fa/thanoo biharbinmina Allahi warasoolihi wa-in tubtum falakum ruoosu amwalikumla tathlimoona wala tuthlamoon

پھر اگر تم نے ایسا نہ کیا تو اﷲ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی طرف سے اعلانِ جنگ پر خبردار ہو جاؤ، اور اگر تم توبہ کر لو تو تمہارے لئے تمہارے اصل مال (جائز) ہیں، نہ تم خود ظلم کرو اور نہ تم پر ظلم کیا جائے

And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent, you may have your principal - [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged.

اِنَّمَا جَزٰٓؤُا الَّذِيۡنَ يُحَارِبُوۡنَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ وَيَسۡعَوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡاَرۡضِ فَسَادًا اَنۡ يُّقَتَّلُوۡۤا اَوۡ يُصَلَّبُوۡۤا اَوۡ تُقَطَّعَ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَاَرۡجُلُهُمۡ مِّنۡ خِلَافٍ اَوۡ يُنۡفَوۡا مِنَ الۡاَرۡضِؕ ذٰلِكَ لَهُمۡ خِزۡىٌ فِىۡ الدُّنۡيَا وَلَهُمۡ فِىۡ الۡاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيۡمٌۙ
— Transliteration
Innama jazao allatheenayuhariboona Allaha warasoolahu wayasAAawna feeal-ardi fasadan an yuqattaloo aw yusallabooaw tuqattaAAa aydeehim waarjuluhum min khilafin awyunfaw mina al-ardi thalika lahum khizyun fee addunyawalahum fee al-akhirati AAathabun AAatheem

بیشک جو لوگ اﷲ اور اس کے رسول سے جنگ کرتے ہیں اور زمین میں فساد انگیزی کرتے پھرتے ہیں (یعنی مسلمانوں میں خونریز رہزنی اور ڈاکہ زنی وغیرہ کے مرتکب ہوتے ہیں) ان کی سزا یہی ہے کہ وہ قتل کئے جائیں یا پھانسی دیئے جائیں یا ان کے ہاتھ اور ان کے پاؤں مخالف سمتوں سے کاٹے جائیں یا (وطن کی) زمین (میں چلنے پھرنے) سے دور (یعنی ملک بدر یاقید) کر دیئے جائیں۔ یہ (تو) ان کے لئے دنیا میں رسوائی ہے اور ان کے لئے آخرت میں (بھی) بڑا عذاب ہے

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,

وَقَالَتِ الۡيَهُوۡدُ يَدُ اللّٰهِ مَغۡلُوۡلَةٌ ؕ غُلَّتۡ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَلُعِنُوۡا بِمَا قَالُوۡاۘ بَلۡ يَدٰهُ مَبۡسُوۡطَتٰنِۙ يُنۡفِقُ كَيۡفَ يَشَآءُؕ وَلَيَزِيۡدَنَّ كَثِيۡرًا مِّنۡهُمۡ مَّاۤ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَيۡكَ مِنۡ رَّبِّكَ طُغۡيَانًا وَّكُفۡرًاؕ وَاَلۡقَيۡنَا بَيۡنَهُمُ الۡعَدَاوَةَ وَالۡبَغۡضَآءَ اِلٰى يَوۡمِ الۡقِيٰمَةِؕ كُلَّمَاۤ اَوۡقَدُوۡا نَارًا لِّلۡحَرۡبِ اَطۡفَاَهَا اللّٰهُۙ وَيَسۡعَوۡنَ فِىۡ الۡاَرۡضِ فَسَادًاؕ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الۡمُفۡسِدِيۡنَ
— Transliteration
Waqalati alyahoodu yadu Allahimaghloolatun ghullat aydeehim waluAAinoo bima qaloobal yadahu mabsootatani yunfiqu kayfa yashaowalayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka minrabbika tughyanan wakufran waalqaynabaynahumu alAAadawata walbaghdaa ilayawmi alqiyamati kullama awqadoo naran lilharbiatfaaha Allahu wayasAAawna fee al-ardifasadan wallahu la yuhibbualmufsideen

اور یہود کہتے ہیں کہ اﷲ کا ہاتھ بندھا ہوا ہے (یعنی معاذ اﷲ وہ بخیل ہے)، ان کے (اپنے) ہاتھ باندھے جائیں اور جو کچھ انہوں نے کہا اس کے باعث ان پر لعنت کی گئی، بلکہ (حق یہ ہے کہ) اس کے دونوں ہاتھ (جود و سخا کے لئے) کشادہ ہیں، وہ جس طرح چاہتا ہے خرچ (یعنی بندوں پر عطائیں) فرماتا ہے، اور (اے حبیب!) جو (کتاب) آپ کی طرف آپ کے ربّ کی جانب سے نازل کی گئی ہے یقیناً ان میں سے اکثر لوگوں کو (حسداً) سر کشی اور کفر میں اور بڑھا دے گی، اور ہم نے ان کے درمیان روزِ قیامت تک عداوت اور بغض ڈال دیا ہے، جب بھی یہ لوگ جنگ کی آگ بھڑکاتے ہیں اﷲ اسے بجھا دیتا ہے اور یہ (روئے) زمین میں فساد انگیزی کرتے رہتے ہیں، اور اﷲ فساد کرنے والوں کو پسند نہیں کرتا

And the Jews say, "The hand of Allah is chained." Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say. Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters.

— Transliteration
Fa-imma tathqafannahum fee alharbifasharrid bihim man khalfahum laAAallahum yaththakkaroon

So if you, [O Muhammad], gain dominance over them in war, disperse by [means of] them those behind them that perhaps they will be reminded.

وَالَّذِيۡنَ اتَّخَذُوۡا مَسۡجِدًا ضِرَارًا وَّكُفۡرًا وَّتَفۡرِيۡقًۢا بَيۡنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَاِرۡصَادًا لِّمَنۡ حَارَبَ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُوۡلَهٗ مِنۡ قَبۡلُؕ وَلَيَحۡلِفُنَّ اِنۡ اَرَدۡنَاۤ اِلَّا الۡحُسۡنٰىؕ وَاللّٰهُ يَشۡهَدُ اِنَّهُمۡ لَـكٰذِبُوۡنَ
— Transliteration
Wallatheena ittakhathoomasjidan diraran wakufran watafreeqan baynaalmu/mineena wa-irsadan liman haraba Allahawarasoolahu min qablu walayahlifunna in aradna illaalhusna wallahu yashhadu innahum lakathiboon

اور (منافقین میں سے وہ بھی ہیں) جنہوں نے ایک مسجد تیار کی ہے (مسلمانوں کو) نقصان پہنچانے اور کفر (کو تقویت دینے) اور اہلِ ایمان کے درمیان تفرقہ پیدا کرنے اور اس شخص کی گھات کی جگہ بنانے کی غرض سے جو اﷲ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) سے پہلے ہی سے جنگ کر رہا ہے، اور وہ ضرور قَسمیں کھائیں گے کہ ہم نے (اس مسجد کے بنانے سے) سوائے بھلائی کے اور کوئی ارادہ نہیں کیا، اور اﷲ گواہی دیتا ہے کہ وہ یقیناً جھوٹے ہیں

And [there are] those [hypocrites] who took for themselves a mosque for causing harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a station for whoever had warred against Allah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, "We intended only the best." And Allah testifies that indeed they are liars.

فَاِذَا لَقِيۡتُمُ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا فَضَرۡبَ الرِّقَابِ ؕ حَتّٰٓى اِذَاۤ اَثۡخَنۡتُمُوۡهُمۡ فَشُدُّوۡا الۡوَثَاقَ ۙ فَاِمَّا مَنًّۢا بَعۡدُ وَاِمَّا فِدَآءً حَتّٰى تَضَعَ الۡحَـرۡبُ اَوۡزَارَهَا ۛۚ ذٰلِكَ ۛؕ وَلَوۡ يَشَآءُ اللّٰهُ لَانْـتَصَرَ مِنۡهُمۡۙ وَلٰـكِنۡ لِّيَبۡلُوَا۟ بَعۡضَكُمۡ بِبَعۡضٍؕ وَالَّذِيۡنَ قُتِلُوۡا فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ فَلَنۡ يُّضِلَّ اَعۡمَالَهُمۡ
— Transliteration
Fa-itha laqeetumu allatheenakafaroo fadarba arriqabi hattaitha athkhantumoohum fashuddoo alwathaqa fa-immamannan baAAdu wa-imma fidaan hatta tadaAAaalharbu awzaraha thalika walaw yashaoAllahu lantasara minhum walakinliyabluwa baAAdakum bibaAAdin wallatheenaqutiloo fee sabeeli Allahi falan yudillaaAAmalahum

پھر جب (میدان جنگ میں) تمہارا مقابلہ (متحارب) کافروں سے ہو تو (دورانِ جنگ) ان کی گردنیں اڑا دو، یہاں تک کہ جب تم انہیں (جنگی معرکہ میں) خوب قتل کر چکو تو (بقیہ قیدیوں کو) مضبوطی سے باندھ لو، پھر اس کے بعد یا تو (انہیں) (بلامعاوضہ) احسان کر کے (چھوڑ دو) یا فدیہ (یعنی معاوضہِء رہائی) لے کر (آزاد کر دو) یہاں تک کہ جنگ (کرنے والی مخالف فوج) اپنے ہتھیار رکھ دے (یعنی صلح و امن کا اعلان کر دے)۔ یہی (حکم) ہے، اور اگر اﷲ چاہتا تو ان سے (بغیر جنگ) انتقام لے لیتا مگر (اس نے ایسا نہیں کیا) تاکہ تم میں سے بعض کو بعض کے ذریعے آزمائے، اور جو لوگ اﷲ کی راہ میں قتل کر دیئے گئے تو وہ ان کے اعمال کو ہرگز ضائع نہ کرے گاo

So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah - never will He waste their deeds.
