And We made it a deterrent punishment for those who were present and those who succeeded [them] and a lesson for those who fear Allah.

Indeed, We have sent you, [O Muhammad], with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner, and you will not be asked about the companions of Hellfire.

(ابتداء میں) سب لوگ ایک ہی دین پر جمع تھے، (پھر جب ان میں اختلافات رونما ہو گئے) تو اﷲ نے بشارت دینے والے اور ڈر سنانے والے پیغمبروں کو بھیجا، اور ان کے ساتھ حق پر مبنی کتاب اتاری تاکہ وہ لوگوں میں ان امور کا فیصلہ کر دے جن میں وہ اختلاف کرنے لگے تھے اور اس میں اختلاف بھی فقط انہی لوگوں نے کیا جنہیں وہ کتاب دی گئی تھی، باوجود اس کے کہ ان کے پاس واضح نشانیاں آچکی تھیں، (اور انہوں نے یہ اختلاف بھی) محض باہمی بغض و حسد کے باعث (کیا) پھر اﷲ نے ایمان والوں کو اپنے حکم سے وہ حق کی بات سمجھا دی جس میں وہ اختلاف کرتے تھے، اور اﷲ جسے چاہتا ہے سیدھے راستے کی طرف ہدایت فرما دیتا ہے

— English

Mankind was [of] one religion [before their deviation]; then Allah sent the prophets as bringers of good tidings and warners and sent down with them the Scripture in truth to judge between the people concerning that in which they differed. And none differed over the Scripture except those who were given it - after the clear proofs came to them - out of jealous animosity among themselves. And Allah guided those who believed to the truth concerning that over which they had differed, by His permission. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.

— Transliteration

Wama anfaqtum min nafaqatin aw nathartummin nathrin fa-inna Allaha yaAAlamuhu wamaliththalimeena min ansar

Urdu —

اور تم جو کچھ بھی خرچ کرو یا تم جو مَنّت بھی مانو تو اﷲ اسے یقینا جانتا ہے، اور ظالموں کے لئے کوئی مددگار نہیں

And whatever you spend of expenditures or make of vows - indeed, Allah knows of it. And for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.

الَّذِيۡنَ يَاۡكُلُوۡنَ الرِّبٰوا لَا يَقُوۡمُوۡنَ اِلَّا كَمَا يَقُوۡمُ الَّذِىۡ يَتَخَبَّطُهُ الشَّيۡطٰنُ مِنَ الۡمَسِّ‌ؕ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمۡ قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّمَا الۡبَيۡعُ مِثۡلُ الرِّبٰوا‌ ۘ‌ وَاَحَلَّ اللّٰهُ الۡبَيۡعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبٰوا‌ ؕ فَمَنۡ جَآءَهٗ مَوۡعِظَةٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّهٖ فَانۡتَهٰى فَلَهٗ مَا سَلَفَ وَاَمۡرُهٗۤ اِلَى اللّٰهِ‌ؕ وَمَنۡ عَادَ فَاُولٰٓٮِٕكَ اَصۡحٰبُ النَّارِ‌ۚ هُمۡ فِيۡهَا خٰلِدُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Allatheena ya/kuloona arribala yaqoomoona illa kama yaqoomu allatheeyatakhabbatuhu ashshaytanu mina almassi thalikabi-annahum qaloo innama albayAAu mithlu arribawaahalla Allahu albayAAa waharrama arribafaman jaahu mawAAithatun min rabbihi fantahafalahu ma salafa waamruhu ila Allahi wamanAAada faola-ika as-habu annarihum feeha khalidoon

جو لوگ سُود کھاتے ہیں وہ (روزِ قیامت) کھڑے نہیں ہو سکیں گے مگر جیسے وہ شخص کھڑا ہوتا ہے جسے شیطان (آسیب) نے چھو کر بدحواس کر دیا ہو، یہ اس لئے کہ وہ کہتے تھے کہ تجارت (خرید و فروخت) بھی تو سود کی مانند ہے، حالانکہ اﷲ نے تجارت (سوداگری) کو حلال فرمایا ہے اور سود کو حرام کیا ہے، پس جس کے پاس اس کے رب کی جانب سے نصیحت پہنچی سو وہ (سود سے) باز آگیا تو جو پہلے گزر چکا وہ اسی کا ہے، اور اس کا معاملہ اﷲ کے سپرد ہے، اور جس نے پھر بھی لیا سو ایسے لوگ جہنمی ہیں، وہ اس میں ہمیشہ رہیں گے

— English

Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, "Trade is [just] like interest." But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest. So whoever has received an admonition from his Lord and desists may have what is past, and his affair rests with Allah. But whoever returns to [dealing in interest or usury] - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein.

[Mention, O Muhammad], when the wife of 'Imran said, "My Lord, indeed I have pledged to You what is in my womb, consecrated [for Your service], so accept this from me. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing."

Those are the ones of whom Allah knows what is in their hearts, so turn away from them but admonish them and speak to them a far-reaching word.

and a warner

wal-lahu

And Allah

اور اللہ

ʿalā

(is) on

All-Powerful

قادر ہے

Urdu —

اے اہلِ کتاب! بیشک تمہارے پاس ہمارے (یہ آخر الزمان) رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پیغمبروں کی آمد (کے سلسلے) کے منقطع ہونے (کے موقع) پر تشریف لائے ہیں، جو تمہارے لئے (ہمارے احکام) خوب واضح کرتے ہیں، (اس لئے) کہ تم (عذر کرتے ہوئے یہ) کہہ دوگے کہ ہمارے پاس نہ (تو) کوئی خوشخبری سنانے والا آیا ہے اور نہ ڈر سنانے والا۔ (اب تمہارا یہ عذر بھی ختم ہو چکا ہے کیونکہ) بلاشبہ تمہارے پاس (آخری) خوشخبری سنانے اور ڈر سنانے والا (بھی) آگیا ہے، اور اﷲ ہر چیز پر بڑا قادر ہے

O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger to make clear to you [the religion] after a period [of suspension] of messengers, lest you say, "There came not to us any bringer of good tidings or a warner." But there has come to you a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And Allah is over all things competent.

قُلۡ اَىُّ شَىۡءٍ اَكۡبَرُ شَهَادَةً‌ ؕ قُلِ اللّٰهُ‌ؕ شَهِيۡدٌۢ بَيۡنِىۡ وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ‌ وَاُوۡحِىَ اِلَىَّ هٰذَا الۡـقُرۡاٰنُ لِاُنۡذِرَكُمۡ بِهٖ وَمَنۡۢ بَلَغَ‌ ؕ اَٮِٕنَّكُمۡ لَـتَشۡهَدُوۡنَ اَنَّ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اٰلِهَةً اُخۡرٰى‌ؕ قُل لَّاۤ اَشۡهَدُ‌ۚ قُلۡ اِنَّمَا هُوَ اِلٰـهٌ وَّاحِدٌ وَّاِنَّنِىۡ بَرِىۡٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشۡرِكُوۡنَ‌ۘ‏ 

— Transliteration

Qul ayyu shay-in akbaru shahadatanquli Allahu shaheedun baynee wabaynakum waoohiyailayya hatha alqur-anu li-onthirakum bihiwaman balagha a-innakum latashhadoona anna maAAa Allahi alihatanokhra qul la ashhadu qul innama huwa ilahunwahidun wa-innanee baree-on mimma tushrikoon

Urdu —

آپ (ان سے دریافت) فرمائیے کہ گواہی دینے میں سب سے بڑھ کر کون ہے؟ آپ (ہی) فرما دیجئے کہ اﷲ میرے اور تمہارے درمیان گواہ ہے، اور میری طرف یہ قرآن اس لئے وحی کیا گیا ہے کہ اس کے ذریعے تمہیں اور ہر اس شخص کو جس تک (یہ قرآن) پہنچے ڈر سناؤں۔ کیا تم واقعی اس بات کی گواہی دیتے ہو کہ اﷲ کے ساتھ دوسرے معبود (بھی) ہیں؟ آپ فرما دیں: میں (تو اس غلط بات کی) گواہی نہیں دیتا، فرما دیجئے: بس معبود تو وہی ایک ہی ہے اور میں ان(سب) چیزوں سے بیزار ہوں جنہیں تم (اﷲ کا) شریک ٹھہراتے ہو

Say, "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say, "Allah is witness between me and you. And this Qur'an was revealed to me that I may warn you thereby and whomever it reaches. Do you [truly] testify that with Allah there are other deities?" Say, "I will not testify [with you]." Say, "Indeed, He is but one God, and indeed, I am free of what you associate [with Him]."

— Transliteration

Wama nursilu almursaleena illamubashshireena wamunthireena faman amana waaslahafala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoon

وہ

yaḥzanūna

will grieve

غمگین ہوں گے

Urdu —

اور ہم پیغمبروں کو نہیں بھیجتے مگر خوشخبری سنانے والے اور ڈر سنانے والے بنا کر، سو جو شخص ایمان لے آیا اور (عملاً) درست ہوگیا تو ان پرنہ کوئی خوف ہوگا اور نہ ہی وہ غمگین ہوں گے

— English

And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. So whoever believes and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.

Waanthir bihi allatheena yakhafoonaan yuhsharoo ila rabbihim laysa lahum min doonihiwaliyyun wala shafeeAAun laAAallahum yattaqoon

وہ تقوی اختیار کریں

Urdu —

اور آپ اس (قرآن) کے ذریعے ان لوگوں کو ڈر سنائیے جو اپنے رب کے پاس اس حال میں جمع کئے جانے سے خوف زدہ ہیں کہ ان کے لئے اس کے سوا نہ کوئی مددگار ہو اور نہ (کوئی) سفارشی تاکہ وہ پرہیزگار بن جائیں

— English

And warn by the Qur'an those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord - for them besides Him will be no protector and no intercessor - that they might become righteous.

Wahatha kitabun anzalnahumubarakun musaddiqu allathee bayna yadayhiwalitunthira omma alqura waman hawlahawallatheena yu/minoona bil-akhiratiyu/minoona bihi wahum AAala salatihim yuhafithoon

and who

(are) around it

wa-alladhīna

And those who

اور وہ لوگ

yu'minūna

believe

جو ایمان رکھتے ہیں

bil-ākhirati

in the Hereafter

آخرت پر

yu'minūna

they believe

جو ایمان رکھتے ہیں

bihi

in it,

ساتھ اس کے

wahum

and they,

اور وہ

ʿalā

over

اوپر

ṣalātihim

their prayers

اپنی نمازوں کے

yuḥāfiẓūna

(are) guarding

حفاظت کرتے ہیں

Urdu —

اور یہ (وہ) کتاب ہے جسے ہم نے نازل فرمایا ہے، بابرکت ہے، جو کتابیں اس سے پہلے تھیں ان کی (اصلاً) تصدیق کرنے والی ہے۔ اور (یہ) اس لئے (نازل کی گئی ہے) کہ آپ (اولاً) سب (انسانی) بستیوں کے مرکز (مکّہ) والوں کو اور (ثانیاً ساری دنیا میں) اس کے ارد گرد والوں کو ڈر سنائیں، اور جو لوگ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اس پر وہی ایمان لاتے ہیں اور وہی لوگ اپنی نماز کی پوری حفاظت کرتے ہیں

And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers.

يٰمَعۡشَرَ الۡجِنِّ وَالۡاِنۡسِ اَلَمۡ يَاۡتِكُمۡ رُسُلٌ مِّنۡكُمۡ يَقُصُّوۡنَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ اٰيٰتِىۡ وَيُنۡذِرُوۡنَكُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هٰذَا‌ؕ قَالُوۡا شَهِدۡنَا عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِنَا‌ وَغَرَّتۡهُمُ الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا وَشَهِدُوۡا عَلٰٓى اَنۡفُسِهِمۡ اَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوۡا كٰفِرِيۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Ya maAAshara aljinni wal-insialam ya/tikum rusulun minkum yaqussoona AAalaykum ayateewayunthiroonakum liqaa yawmikum hatha qalooshahidna AAala anfusina wagharrat-humu alhayatuaddunya washahidoo AAala anfusihim annahumkanoo kafireen

disbelievers

Urdu —

اے گروہِ جن و انس! کیا تمہارے پاس تم ہی میں سے رسول نہیں آئے تھے جو تم پر میری آیتیں بیان کرتے تھے اور تمہاری اس دن کی پیشی سے تمہیں ڈراتے تھے؟ (تو) وہ کہیں گے: ہم اپنی جانوں کے خلاف گواہی دیتے ہیں، اور انہیں دنیا کی زندگی نے دھوکہ میں ڈال رکھا تھا اور وہ اپنی جانوں کے خلاف اس (بات) کی گواہی دیں گے کہ وہ (دنیا میں) کافر (یعنی حق کے انکاری) تھے

"O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves"; and the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

— Transliteration

Kitabun onzila ilayka falayakun fee sadrika harajun minhu litunthirabihi wathikra lilmu/mineen

(اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) یہ کتاب ہے (جو) آپ کی طرف اتاری گئی ہے سو آپ کے سینۂ (انور) میں اس (کی تبلیغ پر کفار کے انکار و تکذیب کے خیال) سے کوئی تنگی نہ ہو (یہ تو اتاری ہی اس لئے گئی ہے) کہ آپ اس کے ذریعے (منکرین کو) ڈر سنا سکیں اور یہ مومنین کے لئے نصیحت (ہے)

— English

[This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers.

Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man from among you, that he may warn you and that you may fear Allah so you might receive mercy."

Awa AAajibtum an jaakum thikrunmin rabbikum AAala rajulin minkum liyunthirakum wathkurooith jaAAalakum khulafaa min baAAdi qawmi noohinwazadakum fee alkhalqi bastatan fathkurooalaa Allahi laAAallakum tuflihoon

فلاح پا جاؤ

Urdu —

کیا تمہیں اس بات پر تعجب ہے کہ تمہارے پاس تمہارے رب کی طرف سے تم ہی میں سے ایک مرد (کی زبان) پر نصیحت آئی تاکہ وہ تمہیں (عذابِ الٰہی سے) ڈرائے، اور یاد کرو جب اس نے تمہیں قومِ نوح کے بعد (زمین پر) جانشین بنایا اور تمہاری خلقت میں (قد و قامت اور) قوت کو مزید بڑھا دے، سو تم اﷲ کی نعمتوں کو یاد کرو تاکہ تم فلاح پا جاؤ

— English

Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man from among you, that he may warn you? And remember when He made you successors after the people of Noah and increased you in stature extensively. So remember the favors of Allah that you might succeed.

Awa lam yatafakkaroo ma bisahibihimmin jinnatin in huwa illa natheerun mubeen

کیا انہوں نے غور نہیں کیا کہ انہیں (اپنی) صحبت کے شرف سے نوازنے والے (رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو جنون سے کوئی علاقہ نہیں، وہ تو (نافرمانوں کو) صرف واضح ڈر سنانے والے ہیں

Then do they not give thought? There is in their companion [Muhammad] no madness. He is not but a clear warner.

Qul la amliku linafsee nafAAan waladarran illa ma shaa Allahuwalaw kuntu aAAlamu alghayba lastakthartu mina alkhayriwama massaniya assoo-o in ana illanatheerun wabasheerun liqawmin yu/minoon

Urdu —

آپ (ان سے یہ بھی) فرما دیجئے کہ میں اپنی ذات کے لئے کسی نفع اور نقصان کا خود مالک نہیں ہوں مگر (یہ کہ) جس قدر اللہ نے چاہا، اور (اسی طرح بغیر عطاءِ الٰہی کے) اگر میں خود غیب کا علم رکھتا تو میں اَز خود بہت سی بھلائی (اور فتوحات) حاصل کرلیتا اور مجھے (کسی موقع پر) کوئی سختی (اور تکلیف بھی) نہ پہنچتی، میں تو (اپنے منصبِ رسالت کے باعث) فقط ڈر سنانے والا اور خوشخبری دینے والا ہوں ان لوگوں کو جو ایمان رکھتے ہیں٭

— English

Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe."

Akana linnasi AAajabanan awhayna ila rajulin minhum an anthiriannasa wabashshiri allatheena amanooanna lahum qadama sidqin AAinda rabbihim qala alkafiroonainna hatha lasahirun mubeen

Urdu —

کیا یہ بات لوگوں کے لئے تعجب خیز ہے کہ ہم نے انہی میں سے ایک مردِ (کامل) کی طرف وحی بھیجی کہ آپ (بھولے بھٹکے ہوئے) لوگوں کو (عذابِ الٰہی کا) ڈر سنائیں اور ایمان والوں کو خوشخبری سنائیں کہ ان کے لئے ان کے رب کی بارگاہ میں بلند پایہ (یعنی اونچا مرتبہ) ہے، کافر کہنے لگے: بیشک یہ شخص تو کھلا جادوگر ہے

Have the people been amazed that We revealed [revelation] to a man from among them, [saying], "Warn mankind and give good tidings to those who believe that they will have a [firm] precedence of honor with their Lord"? [But] the disbelievers say, "Indeed, this is an obvious magician."

— Transliteration

Fakaththaboohu fanajjaynahuwaman maAAahu fee alfulki wajaAAalnahum khala-ifawaaghraqna allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinafanthur kayfa kana AAaqibatualmunthareen

Urdu —

پھر آپ کی قوم نے آپ کو جھٹلایا پس ہم نے انہیں اور جو ان کے ساتھ کشتی میں تھے (عذابِ طوفان سے) نجات دی اور ہم نے انہیں (زمین میں) جانشین بنادیا اور ان لوگوں کو غرق کردیا جنہوں نے ہماری آیتوں کو جھٹلایا تھا، سو آپ دیکھئے کہ ان لوگوں کا انجام کیسا ہوا جو ڈرائے گئے تھے

— English

And they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship and made them successors, and We drowned those who denied Our signs. Then see how was the end of those who were warned.

فرما دیجئے: تم لوگ دیکھو تو (سہی) آسمانوں اور زمین (کی اس وسیع کائنات) میں قدرتِ الٰہیہ کی کیا کیا نشانیاں ہیں اور (یہ) نشانیاں اور (عذابِ الٰہی سے) ڈرانے والے (پیغمبر) ایسے لوگوں کو فائدہ نہیں پہنچا سکتے جو ایمان لانا ہی نہیں چاہتے

— English

Say, "Observe what is in the heavens and earth." But of no avail will be signs or warners to a people who do not believe

[Through a messenger, saying], "Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings,"

FalaAAallaka tarikun baAAda mayooha ilayka wada-iqun bihi sadruka anyaqooloo lawla onzila AAalayhi kanzun aw jaamaAAahu malakun innama anta natheerun wallahuAAala kulli shay-in wakeel

بھلا کیا یہ ممکن ہے کہ آپ اس میں سے کچھ چھوڑ دیں جو آپ کی طرف وحی کیا گیا ہے اور اس سے آپ کا سینہء (اَطہر) تنگ ہونے لگے (اس خیال سے) کہ کفار یہ کہتے ہیں کہ اس (رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر کوئی خزانہ کیوں نہ اتارا گیا یا اس کے ساتھ کوئی فرشتہ کیوں نہیں آیا، (ایسا ہرگز ممکن نہیں۔ اے رسولِ معظم!) آپ تو صرف ڈر سنانے والے ہیں (کسی کو دنیوی لالچ یا سزا دینے والے نہیں)، اور اﷲ ہر چیز پر نگہبان ہے

Then would you possibly leave [out] some of what is revealed to you, or is your breast constrained by it because they say, "Why has there not been sent down to him a treasure or come with him an angel?" But you are only a warner. And Allah is Disposer of all things.

And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner

اور کافر لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ اس (رسول) پر ان کے رب کی طرف سے کوئی نشانی کیوں نہیں اتاری گئی؟ (اے رسولِ مکرّم!) آپ تو فقط (نافرمانوں کو انجامِ بد سے) ڈرانے والے اور (دنیا کی) ہر قوم کے لئے ہدایت بہم پہنچانے والے ہیں

— English

And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" You are only a warner, and for every people is a guide.

— Transliteration

Waanthiri annasa yawmaya/teehimu alAAathabu fayaqoolu allatheena thalamoorabbana akhkhirna ila ajalin qareebin nujibdaAAwataka wanattabiAAi arrusula awa lam takoonooaqsamtum min qablu ma lakum min zawal

اور آپ لوگوں کو اس دن سے ڈرائیں جب ان پر عذاب آپہنچے گا تو وہ لوگ جو ظلم کرتے رہے ہوں گے کہیں گے: اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں تھوڑی دیر کے لئے مہلت دے دے کہ ہم تیری دعوت کو قبول کر لیں اور رسولوں کی پیروی کر لیں۔ (ان سے کہا جائے گا) کہ کیا تم ہی لوگ پہلے قسمیں نہیں کھاتے رہے کہ تمہیں کبھی زوال نہیں آئے گا

— English

And, [O Muhammad], warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, "Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." [But it will be said], "Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation?

هٰذَا بَلٰغٌ لِّـلنَّاسِ وَلِيُنۡذَرُوۡا بِهٖ وَلِيَـعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّمَا هُوَ اِلٰـهٌ وَّاحِدٌ وَّلِيَذَّكَّرَ اُولُوۡا الۡاَلۡبَابِ‏ 

Hatha balaghun linnasiwaliyuntharoo bihi waliyaAAlamoo annama huwa ilahunwahidun waliyaththakkara oloo al-albab

یہ (قرآن) لوگوں کے لئے کاملاً پیغام کا پہنچا دینا ہے، تاکہ انہیں اس کے ذریعہ ڈرایا جائے اور یہ کہ وہ خوب جان لیں کہ بس وہی (اللہ) معبودِ یکتا ہے اور یہ کہ دانش مند لوگ نصیحت حاصل کریں

— English

This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded.

يُنَزِّلُ الۡمَلٰۤٮِٕكَةَ بِالرُّوۡحِ مِنۡ اَمۡرِهٖ عَلٰى مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهٖۤ اَنۡ اَنۡذِرُوۡۤا اَنَّهٗ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنَا فَاتَّقُوۡنِ‏ 

— Transliteration

Yunazzilu almala-ikata birroohimin amrihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi ananthiroo annahu la ilaha illa anafattaqoon

وہی فرشتوں کو وحی کے ساتھ (جو جملہ تعلیماتِ دین کی روح اور جان ہے) اپنے حکم سے اپنے بندوں میں سے جس پر چاہتا ہے نازل فرماتا ہے کہ (لوگوں کو) ڈر سناؤ کہ میرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں سو میری پرہیزگاری اختیار کرو

He sends down the angels, with the inspiration of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."

— Transliteration

Inna Allaha ya/muru bilAAadliwal-ihsani wa-eeta-i theealqurba wayanha AAani alfahsha-i walmunkariwalbaghyi yaAAithukum laAAallakum tathakkaroon

and the bad

and the oppression

He admonishes you

وہ نصیحت کرتا ہے تم کو

laʿallakum

so that you may

تاکہ تم

tadhakkarūna

take heed

تم نصیحت پکڑو

Urdu —

بیشک اللہ (ہر ایک کے ساتھ) عدل اور احسان کا حکم فرماتا ہے اور قرابت داروں کو دیتے رہنے کا اور بے حیائی اور برے کاموں اور سرکشی و نافرمانی سے منع فرماتا ہے، وہ تمہیں نصیحت فرماتا ہے تاکہ تم خوب یاد رکھو

— English

Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.

Wabilhaqqi anzalnahuwabilhaqqi nazala wama arsalnaka illamubashshiran wanatheera

And with the truth We have sent the Qur'an down, and with the truth it has descended. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.

[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward

Wama nursilu almursaleena illamubashshireena wamunthireena wayujadilu allatheenakafaroo bilbatili liyudhidoo bihi alhaqqawattakhathoo ayatee wama onthiroohuzuwa

to refute

تاکہ زائل کردیں/ پھسلا دیں

bihi

thereby

ساتھ اس کے

the truth

حق کو

wa-ittakhadhū

And they take

اور انہوں نے بنالیا

āyātī

My Verses

میری آیات کو

wamā

and what

اور جس سے

undhirū

they are warned

وہ ڈرائے گئے

huzuwan

(in) ridicule

مذاق

Urdu —

اور ہم رسولوں کو نہیں بھیجا کرتے مگر (لوگوں کو) خوشخبری سنانے والے اور ڈر سنانے والے (بنا کر)، اور کافر لوگ (ان رسولوں سے) بیہودہ باتوں کے سہارے جھگڑا کرتے ہیں تاکہ اس (باطل) کے ذریعہ حق کو زائل کردیں اور وہ میری آیتوں کو اور اس (عذاب) کو جس سے وہ ڈرائے جاتے ہیں ہنسی مذاق بنا لیتے ہیں

— English

And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth and have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule.

فَكُلِىۡ وَاشۡرَبِىۡ وَقَرِّىۡ عَيۡنًا‌ۚ فَاِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ الۡبَشَرِ اَحَدًاۙ فَقُوۡلِىۡۤ اِنِّىۡ نَذَرۡتُ لِلرَّحۡمٰنِ صَوۡمًا فَلَنۡ اُكَلِّمَ الۡيَوۡمَ اِنۡسِيًّا‌ۚ‏ 

— Transliteration

Fakulee washrabee waqarree AAaynanfa-imma tarayinna mina albashari ahadan faqooleeinnee nathartu lirrahmani sawmanfalan okallima alyawma insiyya

سو تم کھاؤ اور پیو اور (اپنے حسین و جمیل فرزند کو دیکھ کر) آنکھیں ٹھنڈی کرو، پھر اگر تم کسی بھی انسان کو دیکھو تو (اشارے سے) کہہ دینا کہ میں نے (خدائے) رحمان کے لئے (خاموشی کے) روزہ کی نذر مانی ہوئی ہے سو میں آج کسی انسان سے قطعاً گفتگو نہیں کروں گی

— English

So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.' "

— Transliteration

Waanthirhum yawma alhasrati ithqudiya al-amru wahum fee ghaflatin wahum layu/minoon

— English

And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe.

— English

So, [O Muhammad], We have only made Qur'an easy in the Arabic language that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people.

Al-AnbiyaaThe Prophets021surahپیغمبر

Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.

ثُمَّ لۡيَـقۡضُوۡا تَفَثَهُمۡ وَلۡيُوۡفُوۡا نُذُوۡرَهُمۡ وَلۡيَطَّوَّفُوۡا بِالۡبَيۡتِ الۡعَتِيۡقِ‏ 

— Transliteration

Thumma lyaqdoo tafathahum walyoofoonuthoorahum walyattawwafoo bilbaytialAAateeq

Then let them end their untidiness and fulfill their vows and perform Tawaf around the ancient House."

قُلۡ يٰۤاَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا لَـكُمۡ نَذِيۡرٌ مُّبِيۡنٌ‌ۚ‏ 

Qul ya ayyuha annasuinnama ana lakum natheerun mubeen

اور وہ کہتے ہیں کہ اس رسول کو کیا ہوا ہے، یہ کھانا کھاتا ہے اور بازاروں میں چلتا پھرتا ہے۔ اس کی طرف کوئی فرشتہ کیوں نہیں اتارا گیا کہ وہ اس کے ساتھ (مل کر) ڈر سنانے والا ہوتاo

And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner?

نیز یہ کہ میں قرآن پڑھ کر سناتا رہوں سو جس شخص نے ہدایت قبول کی تو اس نے اپنے ہی فائدہ کے لئے راہِ راست اختیار کی، اور جو بہکا رہا تو آپ فرما دیں کہ میں تو صِرف ڈر سنانے والوں میں سے ہوں

— English

And to recite the Qur'an." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays - say, "I am only [one] of the warners."

اور نہ (ہی) آپ طُور کے کنارے (اس وقت موجود) تھے جب ہم نے (موسٰی علیہ السلام کو) ندا فرمائی مگر (آپ کو ان تمام احوالِ غیب پر مطلع فرمانا) آپ کے رب کی جانب سے (خصوصی) رحمت ہے۔ تاکہ آپ (ان واقعات سے باخبر ہو کر) اس قوم کو (عذابِ الٰہی سے) ڈرائیں جن کے پاس آپ سے پہلے کوئی ڈر سنانے والا نہیں آیا، تاکہ وہ نصیحت قبول کریں

— English

And you were not at the side of the mount when We called [Moses] but [were sent] as a mercy from your Lord to warn a people to whom no warner had come before you that they might be reminded.

اور کفّار کہتے ہیں کہ اِن پر (یعنی نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر) ان کے رب کی طرف سے نشانیاں کیوں نہیں اتاری گئیں، آپ فرما دیجئے کہ نشانیاں تو اﷲ ہی کے پاس ہیں اور میں تو محض صریح ڈر سنانے والا ہوں

— English

But they say, "Why are not signs sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "The signs are only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner."

Am yaqooloona iftarahu bal huwa alhaqqumin rabbika litunthira qawman ma atahum minnatheerin min qablika laAAallahum yahtadoon

کیا کفار و مشرکین یہ کہتے ہیں کہ اسے اس (رسول) نے گھڑ لیا ہے۔ بلکہ وہ آپ کے رب کی طرف سے حق ہے تاکہ آپ اس قوم کو ڈر سنائیں جن کے پاس آپ سے پہلے کوئی ڈر سنانے والا نہیں آیا تاکہ وہ ہدایت پائیں

— English

Or do they say, "He invented it"? Rather, it is the truth from your Lord, [O Muhammad], that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you [so] perhaps they will be guided.

O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner.

اور (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) ہم نے آپ کو نہیں بھیجا مگر اس طرح کہ (آپ) پوری انسانیت کے لئے خوشخبری سنانے والے اور ڈر سنانے والے ہیں لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے

— English

And We have not sent you except comprehensively to mankind as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. But most of the people do not know.

اور ہم نے کسی بستی میں کوئی ڈر سنانے والا نہیں بھیجا مگر یہ کہ وہاں کے خوشحال لوگوں نے (ہمیشہ یہی) کہا کہ تم جو (ہدایت) دے کر بھیجے گئے ہو ہم اس کے مُنکِر ہیں

— English

And We did not send into a city any warner except that its affluent said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."

And We had not given them any scriptures which they could study, and We had not sent to them before you, [O Muhammad], any warner.

Qul innama aAAithukumbiwahidatin an taqoomoo lillahi mathna wafuradathumma tatafakkaroo ma bisahibikum min jinnatin inhuwa illa natheerun lakum bayna yaday AAathabinshadeed

فرما دیجئے: میں تمہیں بس ایک ہی (بات کی) نصیحت کرتا ہوں کہ تم اﷲ کے لئے (روحانی بیداری اور انتباہ کے حال میں) قیام کرو، دو دو اور ایک ایک، پھر تفکّر کرو (یعنی حقیقت کا معاینہ اور مراقبہ کرو تو تمہیں مشاہدہ ہو جائے گا) کہ تمہیں شرفِ صحبت سے نوازنے والے (رسولِ مکرّم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) ہرگز جنون زدہ نہیں ہیں وہ تو سخت عذاب (کے آنے) سے پہلے تمہیں (بروقت) ڈر سنانے والے ہیں (تاکہ تم غفلت سے جاگ اٹھو)

— English

Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allah, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment.

وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِّزۡرَ اُخۡرَىٰؕ وَاِنۡ تَدۡعُ مُثۡقَلَةٌ اِلٰى حِمۡلِهَا لَا يُحۡمَلۡ مِنۡهُ شَىۡءٌ وَّلَوۡ كَانَ ذَا قُرۡبٰى ؕ اِنَّمَا تُنۡذِرُ الَّذِيۡنَ يَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ بِالۡغَيۡبِ وَاَقَامُوۡا الصَّلٰوةَ ؕ وَمَنۡ تَزَكّٰى فَاِنَّمَا يَتَزَكّٰى لِنَفۡسِه ؕ وَاِلَى اللّٰهِ الۡمَصِيۡرُ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wala taziru waziratun wizraokhra wa-in tadAAu muthqalatun ila himlihala yuhmal minhu shay-on walaw kana thaqurba innama tunthiru allatheenayakhshawna rabbahum bilghaybi waaqamoo assalatawaman tazakka fa-innama yatazakka linafsihiwa-ila Allahi almaseer

he purifies

وہ پاکیزگی اختیار کرتا ہے

for his own self

اپنی ذات کے لیے

wa-ilā

And to

اور طرف

l-lahi

Allah

اللہ کے

l-maṣīru

(is) the destination

لوٹنا ہے

Urdu —

اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا دوسرے کا بارِ (گناہ) نہ اٹھا سکے گا، اور کوئی بوجھ میں دبا ہوا (دوسرے کو) اپنا بوجھ بٹانے کے لئے بلائے گا تو اس سے کچھ بھی بوجھ نہ اٹھایا جا سکے گا خواہ قریبی رشتہ دار ہی ہو، (اے حبیب!) آپ ان ہی لوگوں کو ڈر سناتے ہیں جو اپنے رب سے بن دیکھے ڈرتے ہیں اور نماز قائم کرتے ہیں، اور جو کوئی پاکیزگی حاصل کرتا ہے وہ اپنے ہی فائدہ کے لئے پاک ہوتا ہے، اور اﷲ ہی کی طرف پلٹ کر جانا ہے

— English

And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allah is the [final] destination.

Urdu —

بیشک ہم نے آپ کو حق و ہدایت کے ساتھ، خوشخبری سنانے والا اور (آخرت کا) ڈر سنانے والا بنا کر بھیجا ہے۔ اور کوئی امّت (ایسی) نہیں مگر اُس میں کوئی (نہ کوئی) ڈر سنانے والا (ضرور) گزرا ہے

— English

Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner.

— Transliteration

Wahum yastarikhoona feeharabbana akhrijna naAAmal salihanghayra allathee kunna naAAmalu awa lam nuAAammirkumma yatathakkaru feehi man tathakkara wajaakumuannatheeru fathooqoo fama liththalimeenamin naseer

(is) for the wrongdoers

Urdu —

اور وہ اس دوزخ میں چِلّائیں گے کہ اے ہمارے رب! ہمیں (یہاں سے) نکال دے، (اب) ہم نیک عمل کریں گے ان (اَعمال) سے مختلف جو ہم (پہلے) کیا کرتے تھے۔ (ارشاد ہوگا:) کیا ہم نے تمہیں اتنی عمر نہیں دی تھی کہ اس میں جو شخص نصیحت حاصل کرنا چاہتا، وہ سوچ سکتا تھا اور (پھر) تمہارے پاس ڈر سنانے والا بھی آچکا تھا، پس اب (عذاب کا) مزہ چکھو سو ظالموں کے لئے کوئی مددگار نہ ہوگا

— English

And they will cry out therein, "Our Lord, remove us; we will do righteousness - other than what we were doing!" But did We not grant you life enough for whoever would remember therein to remember, and the warner had come to you? So taste [the punishment], for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper.

وَاَقۡسَمُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ جَهۡدَ اَيۡمَانِهِمۡ لَٮِٕنۡ جَآءَهُمۡ نَذِيۡرٌ لَّيَكُوۡنُنَّ اَهۡدٰى مِنۡ اِحۡدَى الۡاُمَمِۚ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ نَذِيۡرٌ مَّا زَادَهُمۡ اِلَّا نُفُوۡرًاۙ‏ 

— Transliteration

Waaqsamoo billahi jahda aymanihimla-in jaahum natheerun layakoonunna ahda minihda al-omami falamma jaahum natheerunma zadahum illa nufoora

And they swore

Urdu —

اور یہ لوگ اﷲ کے ساتھ بڑی پختہ قَسمیں کھایا کرتے تھے کہ اگر اُن کے پاس کوئی ڈر سنانے والا آجائے تو یہ ضرور ہر ایک امّت سے بڑھ کر راہِ راست پر ہوں گے، پھر جب اُن کے پاس ڈر سنانے والے (نبی آخر الزماں صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) تشریف لے آئے تو اس سے اُن کی حق سے بیزاری میں اضافہ ہی ہوا

— English

And they swore by Allah their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would be more guided than [any] one of the [previous] nations. But when a warner came to them, it did not increase them except in aversion.

YaseenYaseen036surahیٰسٓ

MakkiSerial: Revelation: 41Verses: 83Parah: 22,23Rukus: 5Sajda: ---

لِتُنۡذِرَ قَوۡمًا مَّاۤ اُنۡذِرَ اٰبَآؤُهُمۡ فَهُمۡ غٰفِلُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Litunthira qawman ma onthiraabaohum fahum ghafiloon

That you may warn

تاکہ تم خبردار کرو

That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware.

YaseenYaseen036surahیٰسٓ

وَسَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَاَنۡذَرۡتَهُمۡ اَمۡ لَمۡ تُنۡذِرۡهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ‏ 

— Transliteration

Wasawaon AAalayhim aanthartahumam lam tunthirhum la yu/minoon

And it (is) same

اور برابر ہے

And it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.

اِنَّمَا تُنۡذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكۡرَ وَخَشِىَ الرَّحۡمٰنَ بِالۡغَيۡبِۚ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِمَغۡفِرَةٍ وَّاَجۡرٍ كَرِيۡمٍ‏ 

— Transliteration

Innama tunthiru mani ittabaAAaaththikra wakhashiya arrahmanabilghaybi fabashshirhu bimaghfiratin waajrin kareem

Urdu —

آپ تو صرف اسی شخص کو ڈر سناتے ہیں جو نصیحت کی پیروی کرتا ہے اور خدائے رحمان سے بن دیکھے ڈرتا ہے، سو آپ اسے بخشش اور بڑی عزت والے اجر کی خوشخبری سنا دیں

— English

You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward.

Fa-itha nazala bisahatihimfasaa sabahu almunthareen

it descends

وہ اترے گا

in their territory

But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.

وَعَجِبُوۡۤا اَنۡ جَآءَهُمۡ مُّنۡذِرٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ‌ وَقَالَ الۡكٰفِرُوۡنَ هٰذَا سٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ‌ ۖ‌ۚ‏ 

— Transliteration

WaAAajiboo an jaahum munthirunminhum waqala alkafiroona hatha sahirunkaththab

And they wonder

اور انہوں نے تعجب کیا

اس بات پر کہ

has come to them

اور انہوں نے اس بات پر تعجب کیا کہ ان کے پاس اُن ہی میں سے ایک ڈر سنانے والا آگیا ہے۔ اور کفّار کہنے لگے: یہ جادوگر ہے، بہت جھوٹا ہےo

And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar.

قُلۡ اِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا مُنۡذِرٌ‌‌ۖ وَّمَا مِنۡ اِلٰهٍ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ الۡوَاحِدُ الۡقَهَّارُ‌ۚ‏ 

— Transliteration

Qul innama ana munthirunwama min ilahin illa Allahu alwahidualqahhar

— Transliteration

Waseeqa allatheena kafaroo ilajahannama zumaran hatta itha jaoohafutihat abwabuha waqala lahumkhazanatuha alam ya/tikum rusulun minkum yatloonaAAalaykum ayati rabbikum wayunthiroonakumliqaa yawmikum hatha qaloo bala walakinhaqqat kalimatu alAAathabi AAala alkafireen

اور جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا ہے وہ دوزخ کی طرف گروہ درگروہ ہانکے جائیں گے، یہاں تک کہ جب وہ اُس (جہنم) کے پاس پہنچیں گے تو اُس کے دروازے کھول دیئے جائیں گے اور اس کے داروغے اُن سے کہیں گے: کیا تمہارے پاس تم ہی میں سے رسول نہیں آئے تھے جو تم پر تمہارے رب کی آیات پڑھ کر سناتے تھے اور تمہیں اِس دن کی پیشی سے ڈراتے تھے؟ وہ (دوزخی) کہیں گے: ہاں (آئے تھے)، لیکن کافروں پر فرمانِ عذاب ثابت ہو چکا ہوگا

And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, "Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes, but the word of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers.

[He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting.

And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed.

But if they turn away, then say, "I have warned you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt [that struck] 'Aad and Thamud.

— Transliteration

Wakathalika awhaynailayka qur-anan AAarabiyyan litunthira omma alqurawaman hawlaha watunthira yawma aljamAAi larayba feehi fareequn fee aljannati wafareequn fee assaAAeer

اور اسی طرح ہم نے آپ کی طرف عربی زبان میں قرآن کی وحی کی تاکہ آپ مکّہ والوں کو اور اُن لوگوں کو جو اِس کے اِردگرد رہتے ہیں ڈر سنا سکیں، اور آپ جمع ہونے کے اُس دن کا خوف دلائیں جس میں کوئی شک نہیں ہے۔ (اُس دن) ایک گروہ جنت میں ہوگا اور دوسرا گروہ دوزخ میں ہوگا

— English

And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur'an that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Makkah] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.

Wakathalika ma arsalnamin qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qalamutrafooha inna wajadna abaanaAAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihimmuqtadoon

And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."

Ma khalaqna assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma illabilhaqqi waajalin musamman wallatheenakafaroo AAamma onthiroo muAAridoon

اور ہم نے آسمانوں کو اور زمین کو اور اس (مخلوقات) کو جو ان کے درمیان ہے پیدا نہیں کیا مگر حکمت اور مقررہ مدّت (کے تعیّن) کے ساتھ، اور جنہوں نے کفر کیا ہے انہیں جس چیز سے ڈرایا گیا اسی سے رُوگردانی کرنے والے ہیںo

We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who disbelieve, from that of which they are warned, are turning away.

Qul ma kuntu bidAAan mina arrusuliwama adree ma yufAAalu bee wala bikum inattabiAAu illa ma yooha ilayya wamaana illa natheerun mubeen

آپ فرما دیں کہ میں (انسانوں کی طرف) کوئی پہلا رسول نہیں آیا (کہ مجھ سے قبل رسالت کی کوئی مثال ہی نہ ہو) اور میں اَزخود (یعنی محض اپنی عقل و درایت سے) نہیں جانتا کہ میرے ساتھ کیا سلوک کیا جائے گا اور نہ وہ جو تمہارے ساتھ کیا جائے گا، (میرا علم تو یہ ہے کہ) میں صرف اس وحی کی پیروی کرتا ہوں جو میری طرف بھیجی جاتی ہے (وہی مجھے ہر شے کا علم عطا کرتی ہے) اور میں تو صرف (اس علم بالوحی کی بنا پر) واضح ڈر سنانے والا ہوںo

Say, "I am not something original among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner."

Wamin qablihi kitabu moosa imamanwarahmatan wahatha kitabun musaddiqunlisanan AAarabiyyan liyunthira allatheena thalamoowabushra lilmuhsineen

اور اس سے پہلے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کی کتاب (تورات) پیشوا اور رحمت تھی، اور یہ کتاب (اس کی) تصدیق کرنے والی ہے، عربی زبان میں ہے تاکہ ان لوگوں کو ڈرائے جنہوں نے ظلم کیا ہے اور نیکوکاروں کے لئے خوشخبری ہوo

— English

And before it was the scripture of Moses to lead and as a mercy. And this is a confirming Book in an Arabic tongue to warn those who have wronged and as good tidings to the doers of good.

— Transliteration

Wathkur akha AAadinith anthara qawmahu bil-ahqafiwaqad khalati annuthuru min bayni yadayhi waminkhalfihi alla taAAbudoo illa Allaha inneeakhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheem

اور (اے حبیب!) آپ قومِ عاد کے بھائی (ہود علیہ السلام) کا ذکر کیجئے، جب انہوں نے (عُمان اور مَہرہ کے درمیان یمن کی ایک وادی) اَحقاف میں اپنی قوم کو (اَعمالِ بد کے نتائج سے) ڈرایا حالانکہ اس سے پہلے اور اس کے بعد (بھی کئی) ڈرانے والے (پیغمبر) گزر چکے تھے کہ تم اﷲ کے سوا کسی اور کی پرستش نہ کرنا، مجھے ڈر ہے کہ کہیں تم پر بڑے (ہولناک) دن کا عذاب (نہ) آجائےo

— English

And mention, [O Muhammad], the brother of 'Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

Wa-ith sarafna ilaykanafaran mina aljinni yastamiAAoona alqur-ana falammahadaroohu qaloo ansitoo falammaqudiya wallaw ila qawmihim munthireen

Urdu —

اور (اے حبیب!) جب ہم نے جنّات کی ایک جماعت کو آپ کی طرف متوجہ کیا جو قرآن غور سے سنتے تھے۔ پھر جب وہ وہاں (یعنی بارگاہِ نبوت میں) حاضر ہوئے تو انہوں نے (آپس میں) کہا: خاموش رہو، پھر جب (پڑھنا) ختم ہو گیا تو وہ اپنی قوم کی طرف ڈر سنانے والے (یعنی داعی الی الحق) بن کر واپس گئےo

— English

And [mention, O Muhammad], when We directed to you a few of the jinn, listening to the Qur'an. And when they attended it, they said, "Listen quietly." And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners.

But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say, "This is an amazing thing.

And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning."

گویا (ابھی) شدتِ غضب سے پھٹ کر پارہ پارہ ہو جائے گی، جب اس میں کوئی گروہ ڈالا جائے گا تو اس کے داروغے ان سے پوچھیں گے: کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی ڈر سنانے والا نہیں آیا تھاo

It almost bursts with rage. Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?"

Qaloo bala qad jaananatheerun fakaththabna waqulna manazzala Allahu min shay-in in antum illa fee dalalinkabeer

They will say," Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, 'Allah has not sent down anything. You are not but in great error.'"

کیا تم آسمان والے (رب) سے بے خوف ہو گئے ہو کہ وہ تم پر پتھر برسانے والی ہوا بھیج دے؟ سو تم عنقریب جان لو گے کہ میرا ڈرانا کیسا ہےo

— English

Or do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning.
